Rules of the Buy/Sell/Trade Forums These rules apply to everyone participating in these subforums! The following rules posted below are for everyone to follow. These rules, when followed, facilitate efficiency and promote equal opportunity in the B/S/T section of ASF. PLEASE read and follow these rules, or your account may get warned, restricted or suspended for repeated violations. 1) Email Addresses: Please do not post email addresses in topics or posts. We have several ways members can get a hold of you; these are accessible via your profile page. Please complete your profile information and advise members to contact you either PM (Private Message, board email or instant messenger as mentioned on your profile page). To access a member's profile page, simply click on their screen name. Take notice that emails that bounce could mean that your account here might get deleted or suspended, so make sure you always keep a working email on file. In other words, You must maintain a working email address to be a member here on this website. Accounts that later stop receiving emails usually wind up getting placed in a "broken email" member group that can not access the forums and sometimes those broken accounts get deleted depending on a few factors. 2) Pricing: Must post an asking price. If the item is strictly for trade, then be sure you post trading somewhere in the title or "WTT". This also applies to "OBO" (Or Best Offers) or "testing the waters" cases. 3) Thread Crapping: NO THREAD CRAPPING! Example: A seller has an asking price of $300 and then another member shows up and posts replies about how unfair that price is or some other negative info about the seller or item. If you have a disagreement, please PM or contact that user and keep it between the buyer and seller. If you're not interested in buying, don't post anything. 4) Evaluation and Feedback: Check members feedback listed in their profile comments as well as the Feedback system. There is also an Official Thread of ASF Scammers. Please be sure to check a member out thoroughly before dealing with them. Once a transaction has taken place, you may leave feedback in the members profile as well as in the Feedback system, but you are limited to 1 feedback per transaction. You may only leave feedback if the transaction occurred on ASF. Feedback from transactions that take place anywhere outside the forum such as Ebay, Craigslist, or any other airsoft forum will not be allowed. 4b) Evaluation: Flip Flop Sellers: If a seller agrees to sell you an item, and then turns around and sells it to someone else, you may leave NEUTRAL feedback. DO NOT leave Negative feedback if this event should occur. Remember that the seller has no obligation to sell it to you. If you have already sent money, and the seller still sells it to someone else, you may only leave Negative feedback if the seller does not refund your money. 5) Post Classification: Clearly mark your post title with: "FS" (for "For Sale" listings), "FT" ("For Trade"), "WTB" (this means "Willing To Buy"), "WTS" (this means, "Willing To Sell", "WTT" (which means, "Willing To Trade"), etc. 6) Thread Bumping: Is allowed once per day beginning that day after you post the original message. If you are caught excessively bumping, we will warn you the first couple of times. After that, your thread faces being locked or deleted and your posting rights restricted. Please note when bumping your posts the moderator team (and other users I'm sure) would prefer you to add an additional piece of information, or comment on something someone has said rather than just typing "bump". Doing this will still have the same effect, however it will contribute more to the forum. 6b) Additional Bumping Notes: Bumping includes updates to the advertisement and answering questions. Do not double-post in the same day with updates or bumps, edit the first one. Time your bump appropriately. One bump per day translates to one bump per 24 hours. An early bump up to 1.5 hours before the 24 hour time span has passed is allowed, but please do not exceed this. Please make use of the Edit button or PM the member if you wish to answer their question. 7) Non Airsoft Items Sale: The sale of non-airsoft items are not allowed. Non airsoft items being traded for airsoft items are acceptable. Other items may be listed on SOA, but they cannot be listed in ASF's Buy Sell Trade forums. Any language suggesting such a sale will be punishable and will be automatically removed. 8) Retailers and Advertising: No retailers or distributors are allowed to sell sell items here except "Authorized Sellers" and "ASF Sponsors". To find out more about these two types of authorized member groups who have permission to sell airsoft items here, click here. 8b) Resale: resale of multiple new items (up to moderator discretion) will be considered as storefront sales and are prohibited under normal conditions. A sponsorship fee must be paid to resell multiple new items. Storefront sales are allowed on SOA, not at the ASF Buy Sale Trade forums. 9) Lethal Weapons: Transactions involving knives, swords, blades, firearms, etc. are prohibited from the AirsoftForum.com Buy-Sell-Trade Forums and you MUST USE http://www.SportsOnlyAuctions.com (SOA) or those types of transactions. 10) Paypal Fees, Charging Extra for Paypal: Under PayPal User Agreements Section 4.7, no party may charge extra for PayPal's fees. Charging extra for PayPal's service is against their policy but if you need to compensate for their 3%+0.30 fee, then figure it in to your selling price and don't advertise that you are doing so - use common sense... 10a) An additional note on Paypal: You are highly encouraged to use Paypal so that if there is a problem or dispute about your item or transaction here on this website (ASF), then you have some sort of remedy by requesting support from paypal in terms of a "dispute" with your purchase. We are not responsible for transactions gone bad here and you are encouraged to use the Sports Auction Website for safer transactions. Please read the pinned topics and use common sense or ask a moderator for help understanding this. 10b Asking for payments sent using Paypal's 'gift' option is now banned. 11) Limit of Threads: You may have only one thread for the same item. You CANNOT have multiple threads or topics with the same content and continue bumping all of them. This is so all members have a fair environment to post their ads in. If you wish for a clean, new thread, send a Private Message (PM) to a moderator for permission to make a second post, have other posts merged or closed. Double-posting threads or identical topics displaying the same items are not allowed unless a moderator has given permission under certain circumstances. The staff encourages you to have as few threads as possible when selling items. The moderating team will gladly consolidate and manage your threads if you request so. Having a single thread makes it easy for your potential buyers to view ads. Creating multiple sale threads is more difficult to manage than a single, clean thread. It also creates a more fair atmosphere for sellers here. One person with 7 ads takes away positions in the list from other sellers. PM a moderator if you wish to have all your sale threads consolidated or merged. If you have an excessive number of threads, a moderator will close them all and inform you to make a single thread, so as to be fair to all sellers. Please note that this rule about "the limiting of threads" here on ASF is the exact opposite of the rule on SOA. On the SportsOnlyAuction.com website, you must have separate listings for every item being sold unless you are selling a "lot" or group of items for one price. Here on ASF, there is no way to monitor or "check out", so we have no idea what is being sold or to whom. However, on SOA, each item needs to be sold via it's own listing so that we CAN monitor the transaction and provide a safer means of helping buyers and sellers with their transactions. Additionally, we can also edit, or make updates, clean threads of bumps, and other non-pertinent information to clean up your ads. Multiple threads or replies created within an editing period will be merged without question. Users with excessive amounts of threads, especially when listing individual items in each thread may be asked to create a new thread containing all information, while having their multiple threads moved to the archive. If you wish to have multiple threads or multiple listings for many different items, please use SOA: http://www.SportsOnlyAuction.com and them put a link here to your listings over there. Repeated offenses will be punishable. 12) NecroPosting (posting in a thread that has been dead for more than 1 - 2 months): Necroposting policies are slightly different in the BST forums. Please do not post a reply in a topic thats a month or two old. Instead, send the seller an email or PM or ask a moderator or administrator to "close" the thread. If the advertisement has not had a reply or comment in over a month, it may be considered "dead" in which the seller may be unavailable or no longer wishes for the sale to continue. Instead of posting, please PM the seller, asking if the items are still available and if not, please let us know so that we can close the topic or thread. 13) Ebay Auctions: you are not allowed to post links to ebay pages or listings, Ebay links, or links to other forums containing Ebay links. Buyers do not appreciate having to copy and paste Ebay auction numbers to find out information about a sale. Ebay's links are not allowed here because the auction expires too quickly and the links become invalid. This includes posting links to Ebay stores. If you want to sell something here, TAKE YOUR TIME and write up a nice advertisement thread. Feel free to copy and paste the important information from the ebay listings or ebay auction. 15) Terminated Memberships: In the case of repeat offenses, general rule-breaking, and scams, Authorized Sellers Paid and Authorized Sellers Free may have their memberships revoked with no refund, if the staff determines such a consequence is justified. 16) False Feedback: Posting false feedback is punishable by a 30 day account suspension. It's malicious intent towards another member to leave false feedback to damage their reputation. It is highly suggest that you keep any communications you have with someone with regards to a sale in case of false feedback being given. If you can not prove that it was false feedback, we can't do anything about it. 17) Pay It Forward Section: Using this section to gain other forms of payment (I.e. subscriptions to your YouTube channel, views on a website, etc) are not allowed. You may charge for shipping of a free item; however shipping charges must be reasonable, I.e. you list a $200 gun for "free" and then say shipping is $200. 18 Scammers Scammers will be looked at on a case by case basis. If a someone is found to be a scammer, or there is solid evidence against them, they may not have their username changed at any time while on ASF. ________________________________________________________________________________ Additional useful information, suggested by a wise man named "Junior" at one point in time: QUOTE From personal experience from many transactions, this is what I do when trading with someone with little to no reputation, or I personally do not know: 1: Get references - Very important. Ask them for references of trades/deals/transactions they have done in the past. It's a bit better if they provide you with a reference form a reputable source. 2: Get all their contact information - Full name/Address/telephone number. Once you get their information, verify it's correct by calling them. Have them call you once the package is shipped but have them e-mail you the tracking number 3: Always get a tracking number - Its always important to ask for a tracking number, whether you're the shipper or receiver. If you are the shipper, this is your proof that you actually sent the item. If you're the receiver, you can see when the package will arrive and if it was in fact shipped. When you track a package, most of the time it tells you the town of the destination address. This way you can be sure that the package/tracking number is indeed meant for you and not some random number, or a number he had for someone else. 4: Always maintain a good paper trail - Also very important. Keep records of all communication, just in case something arrives broken, or incomplete, or doesn't arrive at all. You'll be surprised how quickly someone responds when they receive an official letter in the mail saying that someone filed a judgment against them. Its easy to do as long as you have all the proper documentation showing the particulars of the transaction. SIDE NOTE: Paypal is useless when there is no money exchanged. Even by sending a dollar, the most they can do is get you your dollar back. They will not give out the other party's contact information, nor will they credit you the amount of money you think your item was worth. ________________________________________________________________________________ Additional Notes: - When your sale has ended, please PM a Moderator to close your topic or thread. Do not use the "!Report" button. - A guide to avoid scammers is available as a pinned topic in this sub-forum, and here as a link: http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/Guide-Av...ers-t59711.html - Threads for positive and negative feedback are available in the General Discussions of Sales sub-forum. We recommend using the Comments function in each person's profile. - ASF is not responsible for any scams, burns or problems with a transaction. The responsibility to handle a bad transaction lies on the parties involved. Please report any scammers or bad transactions to the ASF staff. - To appear as if you have a brain (per admin), Please do not quote entire ads or pictures to ask a question or make a reply. Many people do not like it when others take up half the thread because they quoted the entire first post to make a reply. If you do quote a picture or long post, you will be warned once or twice and then put on post suspension for 24 - 48 hours. - Purchase your Authorized Seller membership in the Subscriptions function of ASF. If you pay the full amount, your account should be automatically adjusted for the Authorized Seller Paid permissions. If you pay incorrectly, you will not have access to post in the BST forums. We are able to see ALL transactions, so do not even try to sneak around the subscriptions and PayPal, or we will deny subscriptions. - If you have questions about your membership as an ASF Authorized Seller, PM an administrator directly to help you. NGOB is available daily available and can assist you immediately. The Admin, Bodie, and Meety may not respond to your request right away. - ASF's staff reserves the right to use their discretion to determine whether a sale is in violation of these rules. Members who cannot abide by these rules will face consequences. *Rules for the B/S/T of ASF, Agreed on and Set by the ASF Staff, Approved by Admin*
