Ok, to start things off, I am not including the MP7 and Mac10 in this FAQ, because personally, I don't think that they belong in the Automatic Electric Pistol category, they are more of a low FPS AEG.
AEP stands for Automatic Electric Pistol. The current AEPs in production are the TM G18c, TM USP, TM M93r, CYMA G18c, DE M92 and the DE USP. AEPs are a good cold weather alternative to GBBs, and they don't require you to keep buying gas. AEPs have low power (220 FPS tops) unless upgraded. However, because they have an excellent hop up unit, they achieve ranges of 120 feet. Fully upgraded, an AEP will shoot about 250 FPS with a maximum range of 130 feet. Read this for the performace of an upgraded AEP: http://www.airsofthawaii.org/ballistic/200507/g18pdi.shtml The cheapest place I could find to get either of the Tokyo Marui AEPs was: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Home Takedown Guides Here is a guide for taking a TM G18c apart. It will also work for the CYMA G18c clone: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...=G18C+stripping I am unable to find a take-down guide for the USP. If anyone can, please PM me and I will add it to this post. During the break in period, my TM G18c would make a dull thumping noise and the bb would fly about 20 feet forwards and drop. This was because the hop up wasn't quite broken in yet. If you have this problem, try firing about 500-1,000 shots through your gun and it should fix it. This is my first FAQ, so any feedback and advice would be appreciated. There's really nothing more dependable out there (with the exception of a really good spring pistol).
I'll never give mine up. They are the future of airsoft (it's getting harder and harder to get green gas and I'm not a big fan of propane) and their performance is going to increase as time goes on. I have some really nice GBB's, but AEP's have it all over them as far as dependability goes. |

Yes, AEPs are worth it in my opinion. They have the same range and accuracy as a GBB, you can get one for half of the price of a good GBB, and you don't have to pay for gas. Not to mention, you can still use it whenever it is less than 50* outside.

I am pretty much sold on AEP's...save for one thing. their power. now power isnt the biggest factor in any of my airsoft decisions. But I do however need a gun that will make my hits hard enough to feel. Are these guns good in that respect? Just for helping your advice, I will probably be playing in a woodland-esque enviroment. TM also makes an AEP G18C, they're a few upgrades for it. And the Cyma is 100% TM compatiable. oh ok thx -------------------- "War does not determine who is right, only who is left."

I'm kinda novice in airsoft and I want to buy a pistol. I have a small question...does an AEP has semi-automatic fire? and blow-back function too? |

AEPs have semi-auto, but do not have blowback.
If you see an AEP listed as having blowback then it's most likely a mismarked EBB which is not worth purchasing for skirmishing use. |

"an AEP will shoot about 250 FPS with a maximum range of 230 feet." Dude, theres no way an AEP can send a BB 230feet downrange... You must mean 130feet. My MP7 drops about 2 inches in 80 ft (that's how far it is to my target tree from the back porch), 230ft is within it's range. Haven't tried the pistols enough to know... but to me the MP7 is just a big pistol. PS, pinned this, realized after I smarted off the other day I forgot to do so. Again, thanks for doing this... now add the MP7!!! heheh This post has been edited by Paisley Pirate: Feb 11 2008, 11:18 PM -------------------- -THE Paisley Pirate- <=== Read at your own peril

I might get an aep but I want to know which one would be better the Cyma G18C AEP or a Beretta M92 AEP, or is there a better one Well, I'd have to know which brand of M93r AEP you mean. There is a better one than both of those, the TM, if you're willing to spend more money. -------------------- Hey, lets have a third grade argument: "My Glock is better than your Glock."

Is it necessary to decompress the spring of an AEP or would it not really matter? Also, does anyone know if the DE USP (M81) comes with battery/charger? If not, I will probably get the CM 030. Would I need a custom charger in both situations? Thanks!

^^^It's just like any other electric gun, the spring needs to be decompressed. I mean, AEPs already shoot pretty slow as it is.

Hey Guys, So I have a TM USP AEP and I really like it. It becomes even more dangerous/valuable when you have the 100 rd Hi-cap mag in it. You can overwhelm other pistol users with the ROF and outlast them with the high ammo capacity. I have had problems with people calling their hits when I shoot them though. Opponents wearing a sweatshirt will have trouble knowing they got hit at range. So, aim for Skin!! The pistol is very accurate but is definitely best used for CQB action, or if you like moving in close to your opponent. Actually I have found that when using a pistol that my speed, mobility and ability to use cover increase quite a bit. It is very satisfying to "out craft" AEG users with just a pistol and OWN them up close!! |

I have a question, and a totally irrelevant comment. First off, is the CYMA Glock 18c a good gun? In terms of range, ROF, and durability? I was thinking of picking it up as a sidearm, and as a lender gun. Also, please change the FAQ into caps, as when I saw it I thought it said Aep :pain:

Very yes. But it is a very good sidearm and very good AEP. FPS is going to be ~240fps and effective range is going to be 40-70 feet. -------------------- I think I'm supposed to have a signature, so here it is. I hope you like it.
