The problem isn't age limits at all, it's the fact that people aren't educated properly.
I'm only 15. I have been through NRA gun safety classes, and several other safety courses through the BSA and Homeland Security. If there is a chance someone who isn't playing in our game, or is not wearing safety goggles, I'll immediately stand down; finger off the trigger and pointed in safe direction. But, there are hundreds of families that don't understand that. They think that any kid with a gun (Toy, real steel, or even made out of Legos), is a deranged child with anger/aggression issues, and should be counseled. This is not always the case. In fact, I'd rather think that 99% of airsoft players would be perfectly sane people, without any mental problems. However, most voters don't play airsoft. Most voters don't realize that Airsoft can be an actual sport, keeping people who would normally lay on their couch downing Coke and eating potato chips, in good shape. Airsoft can also stimulate your brain. It's like physical chess. Delinquents, planning violent crimes? No, teenagers looking for a worthwhile physical activity. Please, Crucify american Football before you go for Airsoft. Placing an age limit on airsoft is something that would be hard to enforce. Really. My friends and I try to play on very secluded areas, with acres of empty space between us and pedestrians. If no bystanders are around to get shot, offended, or scared by us, why should they call the LEs? If the LEs don't come or know about our skirmishes, how can they stop us? They can't. And how would you take away all the airsoft guns US minors have already bought, and are using responsibly? Punishing the general masses for the crimes of a few is preposterous, silly. |
