Hello everyone, I'm here to review the AGM Type 96 sent to me by Travis at AirsoftCommando I won the contest for the rifle, so here it is.
First Look When the gun was sent to my door, I was very excited to see it in nice brown UPS paper. I ripped it all off and found the gun. Pretty heavy, about 8 pounds. There were some holes and a CSI sticker on it, but not much wear and tear. When I opened the box, the gun came in two pieces. The orange nozzle wasn't painted, so you can take it off, but I prefer to keep it on for extra safety. The gun is plastic, but is pretty durable. You have to assemble it with the included allen wrench. The L96 also doesn't come with any trademarks, which is good depending on personal preference. I like it because you can engrave your own trades. One more thing, even though there is a scope and Harris bipod on the box, the gun doesn't include the it. The gun also came with cheap .12 gram BB's. The same ones that come with cheap springers. You won't need them, but I keep them for my pistol. Reliability The rifle is plastic, so yes, it does scratch. It is pretty durable, so I wouldn't mind dropping it, although like I said, it scratches. When I inserted the magazine, I found out why the gun was heavy: There were weights glued onto the sides of the rifle. Kind of cheap. Hehe. There are three. One in the front and two in the back. You can take them out since they are just glue. The buttpad is very comfortable, though it doesn't extend outward like the real thing. You can't even use the allen wrench to adjust it. Performance The first time I took the gun in the back and shot it, I was shocked. It was dead accurate and hit a soda can at 80 feet. This is my first sniper rifle, so by some of your guys' standards, it isn't all that impressive. But man, this thing can shoot, and packs a punch. The bolt is very smooth and natural to pull back, though I can't compare it. According to the box, it shoots 350 FPS with .25's. At about 80 feet, I tested accuracy. I shot 5 BB's and got results of 7'inch groupings. Dead accurate. I was using .25's though. For best accuracy, I'd reccomend .28's. Using the soda can test, it shot through the bottom easy. I don't know if teflon taping the nozzle works or not. If it works like it does the JG BAR-10, the FPS can be raised pretty high. Conclusion Overall, I'm very impressed. Shoots very well, and fells like it just melts in your hand. Again, this is my first sniper rifle so I can't compare it. Last of all, I'd like to thank Travis for sending me the gun. The box came in about a week. The gun had no scratches on it, and came with a nice little AirsoftCommando sticker. Hehe.
