I just found this! This. I never knew there was an airsoft barret! I gotta get one of those things. The same site also has two types of RPG's that shoot 40mm airsoft grenades.
![]() ![]() I gotta get those too! |

don't get that barret rifle. There is no point in lugging all the weight around for a 300fps spring rifle. If your going to get that gun get the gas powered one.

There is a gas powered one? Anyway, I'd get it for the looks. I could always upgrade the spring.

You could go for realism and get that one. The real thing is a beast to carry. Long AND heavy.
Of course, for CHEAPER THAN THIS GUN you can buy a REAL STEAL (pun intended) Barret Sniper in .50 cal. It was at a gun show somewhere but I remember it. 2,500 or so. It might be illegal to own though, but I would love to have one to stop burgalars. BAM! NO MORE BURGALAR!! HEHE! -------------------- ASF Staff 2005-2008

I couldn't imagine running 'round a field with one of those. It would be cool to mount a real one on the roof of my house with the M2 though... BTW, a new M82 is $7,750.00 |

HMM I thought it was cheaper maybe your show was the first time it was exhibited and by the time it made it to the gun show I'm speaking of it was old business the guy wanted to get rid of.

A real Barret runs in the 7-8K range. Why bring out a huge, ungainly spring gun that can be outranged by most AEGs? Smokey's hasn't made any aftermarket upgrade parts available for their system. There is another Barret kit out there that takes APS2 internals, but again why? I know it looks cool but you can get that gun or make a down payment on a car, and get a fully-tuned L96 or other quality mass-marketed spring rifle.

There are 2 barret kits other than the Smokeys 8mm Barret M82A1 One converts an APS2 into a Barret M99-1, the other converts an M16 into a Barret M82A1 Here was my post in another thread QUOTE The gun in the back, is NOT an Barret M82.. It is an APS2 converted to an M99-1
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?I...onversion%20Kit ***EDIT*** Further correction... Smokeys was the maker of the first Barret Lite 50 M82A1, but they are no longer available as far as I know. However, Hurricane makes the before mentioned M82A1 M16 conversion kit, as seen here at redwolf: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/prod...sp?prodID=17070 |

I want it to look cool. Plus, with 8mm bb's at 300fps theey will fly much farther than 6mm bb's. Oh, also, I went to barrett.com. The real one is 7-8k

If where you play goes for realism in the extreme it won't do you any good.
The geneva convention has banned use of .50 cal on human beings. Correct me if I am wrong. So far that has been the trend. You could though nail peoples guns and then they would have to use them as really heavy bats or use their bayonet (hehe I keep mine in my back pocket just in case :) ). Or you could do my favorite: eliminate canteens/magazines. You could snipe their ammo and they would run out and have to quit or go rambo with the bayonets (see above). Or they would get really thirsty and have to stop. -------------------- ASF Staff 2005-2008

Um, right. I dunno about the .50 caliber on people thing. I'm not going for extreme realism. I'm going for realistic looks, tactics, and, of course, the feel of holding a 5 foot long gun at hip level and shooting someone 50 feet away (as unrealistic as it is). I still like a fair amount of realism though. Especially when it comes to how guns look. I can't stand paintball guns with big green and pink resoviors on top. <_<

People are using .50 cal sniper rifles all over the world... all you have to do to take out a person, and not get in trouble over the geneva thing, is to shoot something else first.... the rest is collateral damage. Regardless though, people are still shooting people with .50 cals The now world record longest rifle shot in combat was done with a 50 caliber sniper rifle on a terrorist in Afganistan from 2,430 meters.
But thats enough on that topic... lets drop it. |

There is not, nor has there ever been, a prohibition on engaging soft targets with the .50. Carlos Hath:censored2: used a Ma Deuce in Vietnam to record the old record. Audie Murphy gunned down most of a platoon with a .50. The longest kill ever recorded by a PPLI sniper in Afghanistan was with an M82. There is this urban myth about no-no on shooting people with the .50, even in the army, but believe me it's false.

About that candian sniper in afghanistan, I believe it was over 2000 yards. I have a picture in my White Feather Book that shows the Ma Deuce with a scope on it and next to it was Carlos Hath:censored2:. I will scan it and post it sometime if anyone wants to see it. Yes the record was around 6,000 yard I believe. I got that form worlds deadliest snipers on history channel.
I think that spring m82 is cool but it is a little expensive, especially when its range is less than upgraded aegs. |

If you wnat a .50 Cal. rifle, get an M195 bolt action single shot. lots of range, extraa accurate, good looking gun too. Kinda hard to conceal, though.

I've read articles about gas .50 cals in Airsoft.
But a real .50 cal can go as cheap as 800 dollars for a kit. ![]() ![]() That's my dad's gun, and him firing it. .50 cals are pretty awesome. Here's a short list of .50's and prices: Anzio 50 - 18" or 26", magazine -$2895 Anzio Single Shot -18" or 26" -$1900 www.anzioironworks.com Grizzly Big Boa - $2295 www.largrizzly.com AR-15 50 BMG Uppers - $1249 Complete AR-15 50 BMG Guns - $1595 www.watsonsweapons.com If you got the money, pick one up. But you'll need a pretty nice scope, mind you, that's another 500 bucks. -------------------- If any of you are wondering, I'm fighting Zombies in South America right now, that's why I'm not on ASF; and will probably be on only every once in a while. I got to see...and hear a .50 BMFG go off before, damd that thing sends a shock wave through ya...maybe thats becuase I was standing too close to the muzzle when it went off but yeah....PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUCMENT!!!
!!!DO NOT STAND TO CLOSE TO THE MUZZLE OF A .50 BMFG WHEN IT GOES OFF...ITS NOT A GOOD THING!!! But yeah I would love to have an Airsoft Barret, and I think it said that each 8mm bb was held inside a shell. But I am sure. That would be cool though, to have a big empty .50 shell casing fly out every time you pulled the bolt back. Just hearing the sound of brass hitting the ground gets me all excited. -------------------- "The inevitibility of death is mearly and incentive to fight harder..."

Yeah, you never want to stand in front of a .50's muzzle. :D Could you think of gettin hit by a .50 shell? I've been hit by a small .45 pistol shell and it hurts like crap. A .50'd give you a bruise. |

The Barret .50 cal actually diverts the shock of pressure out of the gun at 45 degree angles. It is worse for the spotter than the shooter. The Barret also has a recoil management system which is why a human being can unload a clip with the semi auto .50 cal and still have a torso. Oh and the BAM, no more burglar guy. You will have to fix the gigantic hole in the wall and pick up the guys legs and guts. |

I was seriously considering getting the VFC M82 next year. Then it turned out that the only good field near me is mostly CQB. YAY.
