I have been reading through a number of posts on this board and being fairly new (to the board, not Airsoft) I would like to offer some 'advice.'
A lot of 'tech' questions on this board can be answered with a short list of absolute 'needed' supplies in your at home tool box. With these you can fix almost any problem with your AEG, GBB or whatever kind of airsoft gun you have. Also with the gained experience you can pass your knowledge on to others in your local teams, meets and yes even here. So here goes... Tools of the Trade: Dremel MultiPro Power Tool Kit: $59.99 - 99.99 Kronus 25-piece Mini-Tool Set: $19.99 Hex key set (Allen Wrench) I listed a set that is a bargain on Amazon.com, 25 pieces for $5.50: $4.99 - 12.99 Cyanaoacrylates glue (Super Glue): $1.99 - 14.50 Soldering Iron 40 Watt: $8.39 Kronus Helping hands with Magnifier: $12.99 Pad of paper w/ pen or pencil Online Calculator and Conversions Tool bin of spare washers, screws, fuses, wires, tapes etc.: $.99 - 10.00 Bookmark to Lessons in Electric Circuits or for $6.71 Electric Circuits Crash Course Isopropyl Alcohol (excellent for cleaning parts prone to corrosion or damage, also used to clean off soldering jobs, safe for electronics) Small Sponge Workspace (/THOU SHALT NOT USE MY NAME IN VAIN/... now this may be the hardest to acquire especially if you are married like me!) In my experience 99% of all my problems with my AEGs have been solved with the above tools and references. I admit though I received my electrical and electronics training through the Navy so those problems are easier for me to solve then others. That doesn't mean you can't learn also. a lot of this sport involves trial and error but if you don't take the time to find the solutions yourself you just end up shelling out the bucks for someone else to do it for you! If you figure you are going to spend at least $250 on your AEG and then add on another $100-400 in accessories to sup it up... would it kill you to spend $60 on the tools to fix your toy? Plus you can be the envy of all your buddies and end up being there 'go-to' guy when their AEGs break. Good luck and play safe.
