Hello
1st I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I am 23 years old and I have airsofted since I was 13. I am usually a sniper. However sometimes I am the leader of my flanking group. When I am the leader I usually Have to make strategies. Here are some of the strategies that have worked for me. The Backsprain In the back sprain the two snipers shoot at the enemy that is going down the road. When the enemy gets shot in the back they start running to the nearest cover (the tall grass) in the tall grass sit a bunch of awaiting riflemen that finish off the enemy. ![]() The Simple Capture In the simple capture 2-3 riflemen very stealthily and quickly get into the high grass. The others have to provide cover so that the enemy doesn't get any ideas. The riflemen crawl to the enemy and as soon as they get to the sand bags they quickly stand up and shoot all the enemys hiding behind the sandbags. Don't worry if you do it stealthily and silently enough so that the enemy doesn't suspect anything you'll surprise them and easily kill them. ![]() these are two good strategies. sorry if its hard see the pictures I did them at work on Paint. thanks for reading. Comments and questions are encouraged. -------------------- In april 1912, in the Crna Gora mountains a young and curious girl from Udine

yea nice ideas. on the simple capture what if the "x's" start flanking you? hmmm...... thats what they're planning to do. Thats why you have to act quickly and stealthily so that they wont have time to flank you. -------------------- In april 1912, in the Crna Gora mountains a young and curious girl from Udine

My biggest concern with this is that it relies on major terrain elements specific to your location of play.

The biggest problem w/ these, is that they are less of a strategy or principle, and more of a situational opportunity. Sometimes you get an awesome chance to pull off something like this, but it's more of a spur of the moment. B/c wherever you're playing, the terrain is different than where I'm playing.

Way to terrain base. I would rather have something like everyone split up into 3 fire teams. 2 set up a cross firing position while 1 guards flank or shoots no mans land.

There are two types of effective ambush Linear (both fire teams in a line) or L shaped.
let me quote from FM 7-8 Linear. In an ambush using a linear formation, the assault and support elements deploy parallel to the enemy's route . This positions both elements on the long axis of the kill zone and subjects the enemy to flanking fire. This formation can be used in close terrain that restricts the enemy's ability to maneuver against the platoon, or in open terrain provided a means of keeping the enemy in the kill zone can be effected. L-shaped. In an L-shaped ambush, the assault element forms the long leg parallel to the enemy's direction of movement along the kill zone. The support element forms the short leg at one end of and at right angles to the assault element. This provides both flanking (long leg) and enfilading fires (short leg) against the enemy. The L-shaped ambush can be used at a sharp bend in a trail, road, or stream. It should not be used where the short leg would have to cross a straight road or trail. |

Biggest problem with the "Backsprain" is the assumption that OPFOR will turn tail upon encountering the marksmen instead of pushing through them like they should. If that ended up being the case, it's somewhat safe to say your snipers are proper f*cked since they have no backup.
And +1 to what bat21 mentioned about these plans being situational opportunities. |

Then try this out, I have not been able to get enough controll over my team to do it but it should work and isnt very terrain-based.
Situation: Firefight between teams So you and your enemy are both sitting around swapping slugs and you are sick of the useless shooting but don't want to let them go so easliy. Simple, sneak a couple people into cover behind your lines and then suddenly retreat, leaving the people in hiding to ambush. Don't pull back too far that the ambushers will be overwhelmed, prepare to rally and counter-attack instead. The enemy should see your lines fall back and follow you either with a glory charge (in which case you guys just hit jackpot) or a slow advance (wich should work anyway) either way the ambush is there where they least expect it so at the least they should be able to take out a couple enemies and throw their ranks into disarray. The hardest part is the counter-attack made by the 'retreating' troops that is vital to the survival of your ambushers and the ultimate demise of the enemies. Make sure you come back for them or thye will be pretty POed with you for hanging them out to dry. -------------------- War is inevitable. Games are fun. Does that make wargames inevitable fun?
