How to pick an SMG

What is an SMG,

Now you probably have seen some "which AEG?" or "which Springer" threads. Now, I am going to try and help you on picking an SMG because I have some background with the M11 and the Mp5k and the Mp5kcqb which are basically the same thing. When you here the term Airsoft SMG it is not referring to an AEG mp5 or an AEG Uzi. It strictly means gas powered Submachine gun and in the airsoft world, this would include the:

M11 class:
KWA M11 the KWC M11 the KSC M11 the Maruzen M11, Maruzen M11 CQB II, and the M11 CQB III the HFC M11 the WA M11 (rear)

The Mp5k Class:
Maruzen Mp5k, Maruzen Mp5k cqb, Maruzen Mp5k cqb II and the Maruzen Mp5k Cqb III all the difference on all of them are accessories they all basically function the same.

The Hudson Class:
M3A1 Grease Gun, and the M3A1 Grease Gun -Limited Edition

And the Msic Class which include:
the KSC Steyr SPP, KSC STEYR TMP, Maruzen UZI Pistol, Maruzen Vz61 Scorpion

All of these guns are current models of the SMG category. Other brands such as JAC are gas guns but not SMG's because they are considered under classic Airsoft which is a new ball game because they take external gas. The KWA, KSC, HFC and Marui G18 and G26c are not SMG's. So the question you might want to ask your self is what category of SMG's shall I pick from?

Base your first choice on looks:
Try to evaluate the gun you think looks the coolest. It has been said with AEG's and I'll say it with SMG's just for the fact that SMG's pretty much function the same. Sure some may be a bit stronger than others, but its the same way with AEG's. Once you determined what one looks the coolest go to the next step.

Find Good Reviews:
The key to finding a good review is http://www.google.com in the search type (What ever brand of smg your getting {space} than the model of the SMG you are getting {Space} Review) you should get a ton of results and remember if all else fails, there is http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/. They have tons of reviews. Just to get you off on the right foot you could check out these reviews. This one is on the Maruzin MP5k (with PDW stock) http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/index.ph...=ST&f=27&t=104&
Here is another one on the KWA M11 http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/index.ph...ST&f=27&t=1569& after you looked into at least 2 different reviews of the same gun its time for the next step.

Can you afford it?
You might want to look at what you can afford. Most SMG's arel in the same price range 120 - 180, so fortunately this isn’t that big of a problem, but you might want to look into it. After that, find a good retailer. For some reason I see the SMG's in HK the same price as they are back in the states so either type of retailer will be good, just pick one that is trusted here is a list that may help: http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/index.ph...ST&f=37&t=1106&

Here are some things too look for that are friend dude12 put up,

and since it’s absolutely important in Airsoft to find a retailer that won't screw you over I suggest we have a retailer review section to review all the retailers on-

1 service
2 selection
3 pricing
4 communications
5 quality of the product
6 how do they do answering questions
and finally how is there shipping policy.
This would also be a good place for newbies to start at to find the right retailer and the right pricing.

Ok now that you have a gun, a retailer, and know some background go for it and order the gun that you’re set on.

If you’re asking your self "Ok I think I found the gun but is an SMG worth it?" here is the answer:

First, SMG's are great guns that often have higher stock fps than most AEG's. They can make a great primary CQB/CQC weapon or a good sidearm in any type of situation (sometimes as a primary in other situations). Most SMG's do have accessories and are made of high risen ABS plastic or metal. They are built and come apart just like the real thing. The gas feeds into the mag unlike their big brothers known as classic Airsoft. So my overall thoughts on SMG's are that they are great and although they may take some extra attention, the results on the battle field are well worth it.

If you took the time to read "how to pick your SMG than you should know what to do and hopefully have an idea on what kind of SMG to get. If you need fuarther help please do not post it. Either ask me on aim s/n is : domskidan or simply PM me but please leave that as a last alternative.
