Intro

This guide will help you upgrade your BAR10 with minimal cost. This guide is based on a JG bar10. I don't know if it will last on a VSR.
I got my bar10 for 50€. I don't se the point on dumping 500+€ on a sniper rifle, that I use only in winter games (dense woodland field), so I wanted to upgrade my rifle as cheap as possible.

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR DURING UPGRADING YOUR SNIPER RIFLE. YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

The guide

You will need the following:

Rotary tool
Teflon tape
Basic set of tools
If you have access to a lathe, you're winning!

FPS

So first I wanted is to get higher FPS. I went with the cheapest option. I used a Element M145 ST spring for the VSR series, stock cylinder set, stock spring guide, custom piston (will get to that).
The cylinder was polished using a buffing attachment on my rotary tool. Inside and outside. So shiny, I can see my face :)
The cylinder head was beveled like the PDI head. Helps with air-flow. I added a thin piece of shrink tube on the end of the piston head for a better seal.
Because of the added strain on the system, I added a sorbo pad on the PISTON!

As for the piston, I made my own out of Delrin (pom-C). It has very good sliding properties and it's very strong.
I also added ports for the O-ring.

note: I tested the stock piston, and it went through ~1k shots with minimal sign of wear.

Trigger

I used the element second sear and the stock first sear. The element sear is made out of steel, very strong for only 8€ with shipping.
I adjusted the trigger pull to be light as possible (two grub screws on the stock trigger mech).

Accuracy

I mounted a 363 madbull 6.03 AEG barrel in my BAR. How to do it you ask? Simple:
You need to cut the inner rim of the hop-up bucking. That way it easily slides on the barrel. I used the stock rubber, modified for the G-hop. You can find the g-hop in a nother thread.
Because there is no rim, there is a potential massive air leak. I fixed that with ABB rings. 5 minutes on a lathe and you have your rings.
I added stabilization rings made out of delrin inside the outer barrel, to reduce the IB vibrations.

Conclusion

That's all that I’ve done to my VSR.

I'm getting 670 FPS with a max deviation of 3 fps. Confirmed hits past 120 meters ~ 390 feet (measured with a rangefinder).
I'm using .40 or .43 washed madbull BB.
The only problem is, that the bolt push is a little hard because of the 45° trigger. But nothing a little silicon oil can't minimize.

Now I know most of you will tell me that this is a bunch of BS, but honestly I don't care. I know I have a good skirmishable rifle for 1/5 of the price.
As for the player with a tight budget, you’re welcome :) If you need help, just ask.

Total spent:

Rifle 50€
Sear 8€
Barrel 20€
Delrin rod 5€
Element 145 spring 12€
-------------------------------
Total: 95€ ~ 130 USD

I don't see how a m145 can hit 670 FPS. although the range is believable, especially with the g-hop mod.

But I'm pretty sure that G-hop will get ripped apart at that fps....fast...
