So basically I blew my knee out a while back and have been slowly recovering. This has kept me from being able to play for a while. I can't wait to get back into it full force. In the mean time, I'd like to switch to a sniper role so I won't have to run around as much (and save the knee).

I'm not really sure where to begin, so I will just list my end goals:

-Accurate, Long Distance (if it's not going to be accurately shooting much farther than an AEG <AT>400fps, what's the point)
-Semi-Auto (I've played a sniper role before and hated it cause not many people like to call single shot mystery hits)
-Under $500 (I have a lot of spare parts laying around for most of the externals so that should help keep some of the cost down)

My basic design right now is to build it from an M4 platform with an Evike m160 gearbox, a 650mm internal barrel covered by a mock suppressor, and a high torque motor. That's about as far as I've gotten.

The most important thing to me is for it to be as accurate and to shoot as far as I can get it. I care more about internals. My field limits snipers to 550fps, so the extra fps could help.

Look forward to your input,

Thanks.

If you're basing this off of an M4, it's more like a DMR than a sniper rifle. Additionally, does the 550 FPS sniper rifle limit you mentioned allow for full-auto? If not you'd need to disable full-auto on your M4.

For accuracy and range you're going to want to start with a good bucking and nub system first.

This thread might get better answers in the Upgrades section.

Thanks. DMR is what I meant to say. At the field, any gun that shoots over 400fps must be semi-auto or bolt action. I plan on disabling the full auto feature.

As far as the bucking and nub goes, what do you suggest?

650mm is way too long for V2....and it's....unnecessary.

The "Matrix" M160 GB, you need swap out the bearing for bushings.
Rest of it "looks" decent, never used one extensively.

Other than the parts, you need the mods.
R-hop, extreme range and consistent shots.
Air seal mods, AoE correction, Sorbo Padding etc etc

m4 dmr... *puke*

as far as internals go, you would want to replace every single part. I would look at building a DMR out of a M14 since they have unbreakable gearboxes. you are gonna have to spend a bit on the gearbox alone for the M4 since the V2 has a serious weak point. you should ask this on the AEG subsection instead.

get a shock transfer system so you don't break your gearbox into 2 pieces, sorbo it up so its less loud and less damage, and I would reshim the gb and like every one else said, correct aoe and airseal mods. One more thing is if you disable your full auto function, Take out the anti reversal latch and put in an "Active Breaking" mosfet, which will replace that so your gearbox wont lock up.

I'm sure that lots of semi-auto + AB MOSFET is not really a good idea.....
It'll kill the motor fast....

Really? from what every one says you should use an ab mosfet in semi auto builds.

From the last I don't remember how many SR-25 that I've built/tuned/upgraded, NONE of them needs AB MOSFET....
All of the piston resets at the proper (resting) place after each shot.
It's why the cut-off lever exist.

And if the gun locks up due to low battery charge, just grab a fresh battery, plug it in and pull the trigger.
Unless you are running some super high power spring setup, it shouldn't be a problem.
My SR-25 with Guarder SP170, stock ratio gear set, JG Blue can be powered with a 9.6 1600mAh.

AB is mostly used for guns with full-auto, it's used to ensure that the piston is in the resting position after each shot after full-auto.

Grab a gun with AB MOSFET, tap the trigger fast, then feel how hot the motor gets.

I think one of the mosfets built by AWS detects when the motor gets too fast and disables AB until the motor cools down.
