*before you read this* I recommend reading Arnies review first. It's more informative than mine plus it's got more pictures. Though I might disagree with him on some of the points, I written this as a supplement to his review and make repeated reference to his article.

I finally got my CA36c from airsplat. Gee, I only waited about a month! I guess it's not completely airsplat's fault, but they did delay my shippment for about a week. I picked it from the ups office (why do they deliver to ppls home when most of them are at work?). The package was shipped in a box filled with peanuts, which makes it messy. The box itself lack the stylish flair and the offical-ness of tm packages. But it does serves its purpose as a storage as with all of CA packaging so far.

I think arnies has mentioned it, but CA packaged it with the stock unfolded. It's kinda strange, because you'd think it's easier to package with the stock folded. Trademark on the CA36c are non-existant to bypass strict custom. So all you diehard replica fans will just have to stick with your tm and hefty custom fees.

Anyways, the gun itself is heavier than I expected. Not sure how much it weights, but I'd said it's comparable to my metal mp5. It's quite sturdy, with no apparent body flex or sqreaks, which I really hate. The material claims to be fiberglass, but I suspect it more to be a mixture of plastic with fiberglass. Since I can scratch off some of the plastic surface with fingernail (not deep though), I know it's not completely scratch resistant. It still pending a friend's opinion on how closely the material mimick the actual g36c. Some part of the stock have ugly mold seams on it, but it's only noticable if you look at it very closely. The magazine is not as cool looking without the fake bullets like the TM version, but it does hold about 470 bbs. The make of the magazine is rather low, and tends to sqreak when any pressure is applied. The first I know I'm getting is a TM g36e low cap mag.

As with most of my guns, first thing I do is replacing the orange flash hider with a black metal one. But airsplat failed to include the metal flashhider. I know this is their doing since CA has always included it with all their guns PLUS the box clearly advertizes it. I found out from airsplat that they never include the black flashhider in their orders UNLESS you specifically ask for it to be included. But they were nice enough to send one to me at their expense. So, next time you order from airsplat, make sure you ask. In the meantime, I've replace the orange tip with one of my extra black one. After replacing the metal flashhider I usually test the gun out to make sure everything works. So I hooked the 8.6v mini battery, switch to single, and fired...the motor clicked...then nothing. Great! I double checked the connection and the battery charge. Consequent firing didn't make a sound, save for the buzz from the motor. So I assumed the most probable cause was the spring was winded all the way, but something is preventing the gears from completing the cycle. I then recharged the 8.6v and hooked 9.6v to the gun. The 9.6v was too big for the stock handguard to fit over, so I wound up having to tape the 9.6v to the front unit. It's pretty ghettofied, again it works.

It turned out my 8.6v wasn't fully charged, therefore not enough to turn the motor. But the 9.6v solved that problem, and now I'm readied for the accuracy test. I setup two makeshift targets about 30 feet away; one for single shot and one for double. The target is size of a regular cd. I fired about 8 rounds into each target.
http://membres.lycos.fr/falloutboy33/g36c_05.jpg
As you can see, the grouping is fair on single and good on auto. The accuracy was off because I never did bother to zero the gun or adjust the hopup. I'd said it's pretty good accuracy for a stock gun, especially one design for CQB.
Next, I wanted to find out whether the gun shoots as fast as CA claims. My previous CA gun, CA33e actually shot faster than it was advertized. So I wasn't surprise when the soda can fps test revealed that CA36c is a bit faster than a tm stock.
http://membres.lycos.fr/falloutboy33/g36c_06.jpg
While firing it, I notice the gun is louder than most airsoft I owned. Usually I see that as a good thing but the noise this gun makes is almost excessive, especially in a CQB enviroment. Out of curiousity, I attached the only real sound dampen silencer I could find, which happened to be a puny pistol silencer, and attached to the CA36c. Righ away I notice a huge difference. With a full size silencer, I'm sure you can get the noise down to low level.

The interior of the CA36c is pretty complicated, with a lot of small parts and springs. I'm not sure I understand why CA made some components more complicated than it has to be. But arnie said that CA copied TM's g36c, so it might be TM's design not CA. If you are interested in upgrading or trouble the CA36c yourself, I recommend you read internal section of arnies review carefully and follow his instructions. However there is one part I wouldn't recommend you follow. Once you get it down to this step:

I don't recommend you removing the two screws that arnie had shown removed in the picture. Instead you might want to leave the safety plate (the black metal plate the 2 screws hold) with the gearbox. To do this, take out the retaining pin (the pin underneath the left screw) holding the safety plate to the lower receiver. This way you don't risk losing the tiny silver lever and the spring, like arnie said. There is no reason to remove that particular section unless there is something wrong with the safety. I'll posting other tips as I discover them.
Since we are talking about breaking down the gun, I thought I mention that the firing selector on the right side can be left off. That thing always bugs me on the mp5 navy receiver. And that as soon as you get a chance, take out the inner barrel, wrap around the end with a layer of electrical tape. The reason is the inner barrel fits fairly loose inside the front gas assembly. This could be the cause of my accuracy problem. But you don't have to worry about your barrel getting bent though, the support is made out of metal and fairly strong.

Overall it's a good gun. I'm not impressed, but satisfied with my purchuse. Though I'd like to see CA take more risk with TM designs. Not sure how the gun will do in the long run, I guess time will tell. I update this post as soon as I get a chance to use it in a game.
