OK. I'm fairly new to airsoft and I just bought my first official AEG, with it I was given a battery and what looks to be a smart charger. The battery is a 9.6v 1600mah, and I noticed that the charger has a selector for what appears to be 2 different charging settings. It says 1.0A and 2.0A, im guessing the A stands for amps. What setting should I be charging my battery with? does it matter? effect battery performance?

What setting should I be charging my battery with? does it matter? effect battery performance? The A does indeed stand for amps, and indicates the charging rate. All this changes is how long it takes for your battery to be charged. mAh/A gives you your charge time in hours, so for example a 4000mAh battery charged at 1 A would take four hours to charge. For NiMH cells, however, it is healthiest for your cells to be charged at a rate under 1C, C being the capacity of your pack. For your 1600mAh pack, you should not charge at a rate higher than 1600mA, which is 1.6A. Thus, for this pack and any others under 2000mAh, charge at the 1.0A setting. If you get a 2000mAh or higher pack, you can charge at the 2.0A setting -------------------- |
