Classic Army M15A4 Disassembly Guide ![]() Ever since Classic Army released the first model of their M15 line, just about everyone and their grandma has bought one. They have massivly improved over the years, and are now one of the top AEG manufacturers to date. With all these guns being purchased, also comes many people wanting to upgrade them. And where do they go? Airsoftforum.com. I have read countless posts on how to disassemble to M15A4 guns, so I thought I would make one final post to make life easier for everyone. Here it goes. ![]() First, to make life easier, remove the carry hande. Then, remove the following Allen screw and the body pin that is near the foregrips, as shown. ![]() Once the pin is removed, slowly start to seperate the recievers. This is done by pulling the charging handle back just a bit, and pulling the recievers apart. There is one point where the charging handle will get stuck on a part of the gearbox, just pull it back a little more and it should be able to get over it. MAKE SURE YOU don't PULL BACK TO FAR, or you will stretch out the spring. Once the recievers are apart, you should see this: ![]() ![]() Next, remove the top screw in the butt stock. It is a long, flathead screw. ![]() Once its all the way out, pull off the stock slowly, and disconnect the mini tamaya clip and remove the stock ring, which just slides right off. ![]() Next, remove the tiny allen screw in the mag release button. Take off the button, screw, and spring. At the same time, the lever will fall out the other side. Just keep them all together so you don't lose the pieces. You should see something like this: ![]() ![]() Next, remove this allen screw and punch out the pin it was connected to. ![]() Now you will need to remove the two phillips head screws on the bottom of the pistol grip. Do not mess with the flat head screw in the middle, that adjusts the motor height. ![]() Once the screws are removed, remove the motor plate and you will see the motor inside. ![]() Disconnect the wires by simply pulling them off the connectors, and then remove the motor. ![]() Once the motors out, look inside the pistol grip and you will see two phillips screws. Take those out, and remove the pistol grip. Watch so that the wires do not get caught on the holes. Your rifle should now look like this: ![]() ![]() Now comes the harder part. You will have to punch out the pin located right above the trigger, next to the SAFE on the selector switch. I found that the allen wrench you used to remove the two main body pins works great as a punch, use that and a hammer and hit out the pin. It may, and probably will be very stiff to get out, but it will come out. I sprayed some silicon lube on it after I had it out and it got a little easier to put in and out. Finally, the gearbox should be free, but its not quite out yet. You will have to work it to get it out. Put the selector switch to Semi, and push in the trigger. Then work it up and out of the box. It may seem to get stuck on the top by where the stock was, but it will go past there with a push. Just keep working it and it will come out. Heres a pic for reference: ![]() ![]() Also, one more thing to note. On the reassembly, putting the motor in is different then normal, and some people have issues here. The wires go through each hole as you will see when you take it out, but then they both need to feed up to the BACK of the grip, before inserting the motor. The red wire has to "curve up and around". Here is a pic of how it should look when you insert the motor: ![]() Make sure once you have the motor in and you think its right, push it down a little bit with your thumb. It should move back up from the spring on the motor shaft. If it goes down and sticks down, it is in wrong and you will need to remove it and try again. Thats it, post here any questions. Thanks. Good post! I'm glad someone finally did this, I had to find out by myself. One thing I would mention, however, is to open the ejection port to make it easier to slide out, and if it's a carbine, to be careful not to pull on the wires too much around the hop up when pulling the upper reciever away.

nice guide but is that the same for the retractable stock m15 It would be almost the same, but the only different part would be removing the stock, which isnt difficult, and to watch out for the wires, which should be wired to the front handgrips. -------------------- ![]() Classic Army M15A4 Rifle disassembly guide AEG Upgrades/questions? Carbines will be slightly different but not too much really.
There is a different procedure for removing the stock, although regular TM M4 guides should be a good reference as they are true clones at that point. Dunno if the CA Carbines have the wire clip at the front though. BTW Notcandc... Fancy serial number you got, I wonder if it can be used to tell which batch the gun was produced in. If yours is gun number 8185 that CA has made and sold. My serial number for reference is: 009293 |

Nice guide.
On the topic of serial numbers, Mine is also somewhere in the 8000's. My friend's carbine, which is a few months old, is 69000. They've made a lot of M15A4's so far. In contrast, my other friend's CA25 is 430. Unless you cut them off, you can not remove it without removing the whole foregrip assembly. (It keeps it in place). You need to buy a free floating RAS system for that.

#008643 has a question: How can you disassemble the foregrip? I need to mount a bottom RIS rail on it and am not sure how to remove the foregrip and front sight assembly. The Delta Ring assembly. Push down harder, pull out rear of handguard (closest to mag well), slide toward mag well. Should come right out. If not, push harder on delta ring assembly. great guide. and if anyone is wondering about the barrel removal, you push really hard down on the delta ring, and fit a large (very very large) set of pliers over the spiky looking ring, and if you have a good enough hold, the delta ring should stay down and the pliers should stay on. once that is done, twist counter clockwise. it should get loose. at which point you can use your hands. once the delta ring is off, the barrel slides out with no problem.

I bought my M15A4 slightly used off a friend, and I love it. I tried to take apart the recievers just to clean up a bit and check it out, but I'm having a pain getting the reciever pins off. I unscrewed the back one easily enough (allen wrench), but the front one will not budge, I can't even get the allen wrench to firmly fit in the socket, I'm working on that know. After I got the back screw off, I couldn't get the rest of the pin out, do I just have to use a good ammount of force to punch it out or am I missing something?

Yes, you usually will have to punch them out.
The safest way is to use the allen key you took the screw out with, insert into the pin long way first, then tap it out with a screwdriver handle. -------------------- |

I'm trying to get the front end off of my M15A4 socom. Its a single-piece metal free-floating (as far as I can tell) RIS. The parts sheet says its just screwed on, but not which direction and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference which way I try to turn it.
Also, any particular strategy for getting the middle pin out? I've been banging on it for at least 20 minutes with a hammer and it's moved about a half-millimeter. This post has been edited by MooCowofDom: Aug 19 2008, 09:56 AM |

You need to loosen the Barrel Nut, which you should be able to see inside of the delta ring. You usually need to push the ring down, and grab the barrel nut with a pair of channel lock pliers.

thank you, you guys really helped alot. I got the barrel off but the deep fire m16 outer barrel doesn't fit my m15a4 sportline for some reason. there is a small gap between the outer barrel and the upper receiver, I guess I gotta get a different barrel or what? any ideas?

This guide also works for the G&G GR16 A2 and A5 (which are modeled after the M16A2 and M16A4 respectively, though the A5 might be named R5). This will help a ton when I want to upgrade my rifle.

That's a nice guide, but I still have questions... What if you wish to replace your gearbox into another metal body? I took off the gearbox and all, but now I'm having trouble with the fire selector. I quess I don't know what way it's suposed to be put back in so that the gearbox actually would fit in.
Any pictures would really be appreciated, I've already spent hundreds of euros on barrels, RIS, delta rings, metal bodies and so on just because I'm lacking information. I'm basicly forced to TEST everything out and to be honest, I think I've wasted about 500 euros in spare parts... *Ouch* So, the fire selector and placing the gearbox in is a big mystery to me, help me out? -------------------- You can stand me up at the gates of hell but I, wont back down, no I stand my ground wont be turned around, and I'll keep this world from dragging me down, but I'll stand my ground, and I wont back down.

how do you remove the retractable stock? Read the manual ? The stock, the lever on it. It has a pin. If you pull down on that pin (further then what the level pulls it) the stock will slide off the buffer tube. -------------------- |
