Just a quick FYI since your stating that you work on AEG's.

Although it's great to repost information manufacturers provide a true AEG specialist's main focus is to provide the customer with what they want. Many times these barrel/cylinder relationships are simply at best a rough baseline.

Example: I personally build solid airseal setups. Period. From there ROF/power mix is assumed and so far I have never required more than a 1.5:1 and gone as low as 1.3:1 cylinder volume:barrel volume ratio. What does this mean?

With a solid sealed system.. I need no more than an additonal 30-50% extra cylinder volume to ensure the bb has left the barrel. This optimizes ROF and battery life.

2:1 or greater ratios which are being implied by the statement that a Type B cylinder is required for a 450mm - 400mm barrel length applies to stock barrels where there is a greater outlet of air escaping passed the bb and through the standard leakage areas.

Why do I say this.. just to simply explain that hands on experience surpasses any guide or baseline statistic. Everyone's AEG has its own personal issues. I have personally dumped a Type B cylinder on a 385mm barrel CA SCAR just to help this trigger smashing full auto deviant from grenading his tappet plate. The larger cylinder slowed the cyclic rate quite a bit.. at the expense of unecessary battery power usage from unecessary excess cylinder compression stroke length.

Great post of information... just do not base all actions off of it.

Yes, I understand, and thankyou for pointing this out. I too use experience to fix other people's age problems, not just by watching a video on mechbox.com. I use guides sometimes, like for the FAMAS gearbox, (v.1) or the G36c takedown, just so I can get everything done properly on the externals, but when it comes to mechboxes, I use my own information. (exp.) I just posted this guide to help someone make a choice, this guide was not really intended to explain the barrel-conversion chart, just the barrel lengths. I just put that other guide in there because I found it.

Oh totally understandable. I apologize if I came off like you needed to explain your reasons for posting this. By all means any information is great to have spread amongst the community. I just wanted others to understand that in airsoft there are so many variables and means to get to the same desired goals that one should not limit themselves to one set chart or website.

But please keep up the good work. Compiling data on an assortment of rifles is always greatly needed for general comparisons!!!
