First of all, if you make one of these it is your own responsibility. Be sure not to do anything stupid with it. This [Mock] silencer is just for looks and has no real silencing capabilities.
This is what you will be making ![]() ![]() MATERIALS 1) PVC or similar pipe. I used 1" SCH 40. You can use any pipe that will fit over the barrel of your gun. 2) A small piece of wood that will be used to plug the end of the pipe. I use a small scrap of 3/8" plywood. 3) Epoxy or similar glue 4) Assorted sand paper ranging from 120 to 600 grit. 5) Black spray paint. Krylon Fusion would be the best to use because it is made for plastics such as PVC. I used a primer and then regular flat black spray paint over it. ![]() TOOLS 1) Drill and drill bits. 2) Tape measure. 3) Pencil 4) Some type of saw for cutting the PVC and wood end plug to shape. I use a bandsaw. Optional but useful- Belt sander, dremel tool with cutting wheel, band saw, vice. ![]() INSTRUCTIONS 1) First, cut your piece of PVC to whatever length you desire. ![]() 2) Next step is to make a wood end plug. To make this, I find it useful to cut a short ring of your pipe to use as a guide. Use this to trace the inside diameter of the pipe onto the wood. Cut this piece out using the saw of your choice. ![]() ![]() 3) Now, test fit your piece of wood into the piece of PVC. If it is to big, which it will likely be, you have to trim it. If it fits perfect then good cutting. It it's to small, re-cut because it won't work. Mine was to large so I had to sand it down until it fit. Heres where the belt sander comes in handy. I kept sanding and test fitting until it fit perfect. You could alternately use a dremel with a sanding tool, sand it the old fashioned way or trim slowly with a saw. I think the belt sander method works best. ![]() ![]() ![]() 4) Time to glue the wood into the end of the pipe. Mix up your epoxy (or alternate glue) and put it on the inside of the pipe. Press your wood plug in the end and make sure it is oriented nicely. ![]() 5) While you wait for the glue to set up, find the middle of the end plug and mark it. Once the glue is hard, take the drill and drill out the hole so BB's can pass through. I used a 3/8" drill bit but you can use whatever size you want. Make sure the hole is in the center!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 6) You may have to do some extra cutting to make the silencer fit on your gun. On my UTG MK96 it fit perfectly but on my TSD shotgun I had to cut a small slot to avoid the front sight. This is where the dremel comes in handy. The cutting wheel works well for cutting out small grooves if you need to. ![]() ![]() ![]() Picture Posting Limit- Continued in next post -------------------- CYMA M14 Socom: 9.6v mini Elite Battery, Deans connectors Click to View my Full Picture Guide to Making a Custom Mock Silencer |
