I don't think any1 doubted the ics gearbox, they have been known to be able to take higher than normal rated springs. If you look at the portion on top which holds the shorter screws, its actually pretty thick.

not trying to be rude, but what are you trying to test? the gearbox shell, the motor, the gears? although I don't know you enough to necesarily doubt you, but you havent proved anything except that your gun shoots, some chrono readings, a longer burst, or some other proof would shut me up haha, but any gearbox (excluding of course the WELL gearboxes a-rolleyes.gif ) can handle a FEW shots with an m170, which im not entirely sure your even running. when you get some proof I will believe you fully, and praise you for doing this test to show us here a-thumbsup.gif. Not that my opinion matters that much to you hahaha

The test of any upgrade is how it holds up in the long haul. I trust you'll let us know if it breaks in the next few months. I should mention that I have an ICS M4 and I really like it. But I'm keeping it stock.

The ICS gearbox being a two piece gearbox according to some is less durable because its in two pieces. And I agree that maybe a burst, or more shots would prove that the ICS is infact able to handle a M170 spring.

TO be honest, just about any gearbox can stand up to a few shots with an M170. Come back with a longer video, do some full auto, and report back to us after its had a couple more thousand rounds through it. Thanks for trying this out though! If it can make it past 10k rounds with an M170 it has England's seal of approval a-thumbsup.gif LOL.

It has been said that using anything over an M130 spring will cause the mechbox to move out of place and mesh the piston. Thats what I am showing.

I don't want to hear

-come back after 100k rds
-why put that spring in a small gun
-there is no point of that

Thanks

one more thing, did you clean and re grease? I don't know how youre doing your test but I would have a clean greasing then use a qtip after the test to see how much metal dust (if any) is around the gears.

seems to be relivant. forcing any AEG is no problem, but long term is the most important part. I doubt it's going to last.

Yeah, he successfully installed a high powered spring and now its firing. anyone can do that

Doesn’t prove that the ICS gearbox is superior without long term results. I doubt the long term effects

I’ve installed a M130 spring into the older plastic CYMA gearboxes and it fired for a while. Had to force the motor to turn with a 10.8v battery. Don’t know how long it lasted after that, but I told they guy it's not going to last and I wont guarantee the work

Basically, what were trying to say is that, anyone can post a video on youtube, with an M170 in just about any gearbox, and claim its able to stand up to it. Until I see some research and results, I remain skeptical. Nonetheless, I am interested, and I appreciate that you are willing to do this. So please keep me posted.

Just personal opinion; Don’t mean to dis/offend anyone, but chairsofters and backyard airsofters always talk about their high end guns. But most of the common guns I see at real games are mostly stock or slightly upgraded guns. Upgrades and high end guns to make the game, the player does

Well, that's cool. Having never dealt with a 2 part gearbox, this intrigues me. Makes me want to check one out sometime. Hope this works out well for you, let us know how it goes. Also, are you planning on keeping the 170 in there, or did you just slap it in for the video? Just curious.

I wouldn't even bother with an M170 in any gun. Firing a sustained burst is like asking to blow the face of your gearbox off, IMO.
People go so far to get reinforced gears, upgraded piston, new piston head, and all sorts of new upgrades, just so they can put a freakin M190 or similar spring in their AEG. I look at those people as mindless idiots.

I still don't see why people insist on putting such a heavy spring in their GB, but you already requested that no one post that in your thread, and I've already posted enough, so I'll stop here. a-wink.gif

He is probably waiting on the replacement parts to come in, lol. Just give him a little time... Sorry I couldn't resist.

For real though... I hope this works bc I may purchase an ICS M16 soon bc of this thread.
