I was going to get an aeg for my birthday and was looking at a G&G PM5, until I saw a really nice G&P.
Heres the link: http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=31794 my questions are: Are the Internals good quality? Are they durable? Are they kind of beginner friendly? Why is it so cheap? |

G&P's internals are great, though I've heard that their gear axles/shafts have issues under high strain. Unless you're running a very powerful battery/motor there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
BTW that is one UGLY gun. -------------------- ![]() |

So you guys are saying tht the internals are great, and durable. So how many rounds stock should this gun last?(just give a rough estimate), and is it newbie friendly? Also, WHY IS EVIKE SELLING THIS GUN SO CHEAP??????? Is it an older model base gun or something? I think the base gun is their m4a1. If so, when was tht model releasded. |

But it comes with magpul handguard, stock, and grip, and has a peq box, and red dot I'm doubtful that any of those piece are actually Magpul. Notice that on the entire page all the pieces are identified as MOE, not Magpul. The only time the word Magpul appears is describing the PMAG, and even that isn't Magpul, it's Star. Take a look at this G&G--obviously none of these parts are Magpul, and they look very like those on the G&P. http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=32430 For the G&P, notice too that they refer to $100+ furniture. But let's do the math. Genuine Magpul MOE parts: http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=30869 $39 http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=30805 $22 http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=30764 $30 http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=30768 $66 =$157 I think the clincher is the design of the stock. Notice that the G&P stock and the stock on the G&G I linked has (1) a kind of triangular cover piece on the underside of the stock near the back of the reciever/buffer tube, whereas the Magpul is naked there, and (2) there is a round hole top right hand corner of the inside of the stock, whereas the Magpul just has a clean right angle. Evike is using ACM copies of the Magpul. Still, for what's now a $270 base gun (the G&P), $90 is probably a fair price for all those extras, if that combination is exactly what you want. -------------------- Some pics from the collection: Eight Different M16s and M4s & Ten Pistols

My son has a G&P M16A3 and an M4A1.
G&P AEGs have about the best externals available. They have about the best stock performance of any Armalite replica. With my son's M4, we upgraded it with a Madbull M120 spring, making it shoot 435fps w/ .20g BB. With a good 9.6v battery, it shoots 27bps. Shooting like that, the shaft on the spur gear broke after 29,000 rounds. After replacing the gears, the 1st tooth of the piston broke after another 500 rounds. The AOE was a bit off, and he didn't check it when he replaced the gears, duh. We got a good 8.4v battery, and it still shoots 22bps. He is going to run it with an 8.4v from now on. The gears in my son's upgraded G&P M4 broke after 29,000 rounds. Some people have reported failures on stock G&P guns with as little as 1,000 rounds. Some people say their gears never fail. I don't know if there was a bad batch of gears at one time or what, but there is no doubt there is a G&P gear problem. I'd say if you get a G&P AEG, run it with an 8.4v battery and enjoy the performance. Be prepared to change the gears at some point. If you are the kind of person who opens up a brand new gun to check the shim and lube job (like me), just throw in a set of Guarder gears then and be done with it. Put in a Madbull 6.03mm barrel and a Systema bucking, and you have one mean butt AEG. Good luck This post has been edited by namloot: Mar 16 2010, 12:25 PM -------------------- Bob

Or you could just get a lipo and have a better battery in every way. To be fair, the concept of a lipo battery is somewhat daunting to those who are just getting into airsoft. There are many necessary precautions that should be followed when using a lipo. I know that when I first started playing airsoft, it sounded much more appealing to me to just let my NiMH sit on my $20 Tenergy smart charger and call it a day. Plus, better in every way sounds moderately biased. When using a lipo, in order to ensure you don't reach an unsafe voltage, you need to use a voltage alarm, and if that thing goes off in a game... consider your cover blown. Also, while NiMH batteries do require monitoring during charging, they don't require a flame retardent bag to be charged in. I know, if you treat a lipo right, it won't blow up, but that doesn't change the fact that spontaneous combustion is possible while using a lipo. Last, not all guns are "lipo ready" and since he is just starting to get into airsoft, he may not want to dive into the deep end reinforcing his gearbox to the point where he can safely use a lipo and not have to worry about anything. -------------------- Hiatus over.

I've made no difference in how I take care of my batteries from when I got my first smart charger for standard batteries... No voltage alarms, no special anything. Nothing different in my guns either, except for deans connectors. But I'd use those without lipo's anyways. I can't think of a single reason to go back to standard batteries now that I use lipo's.

NiMH batteries don't need to be discharged, right? In fact, you shouldn't use a discharger on them, as discharging them fully may actually damage them. -------------------- Some pics from the collection: Eight Different M16s and M4s & Ten Pistols

I would, but G&G guns arnet really "lipo ready" and I don't wanna strip the gears. Plus im a Newbie, so I wouldn't know how to fix it a 7.4v lipo is fine it performs like a 9.6v battery. Even a 11.1v lipo would be fine as long as you don't hold the trigger down for a long time. G&G has great internals, they arent kwa, but they still are very good. -------------------- ![]() My M14 project pm me for questions about the G&G plastica series and combat machine series G&G m14 video review |

It is their custom gun, but doesn't take to long to get it. You could always buy a regular g&g and get the pts handguards for it
