The Glock 19. One of the most used sidearms in the sport of airsoft. And why not? Its a great gun for beginners and pros alike. It has the power needed to be a good backup, but also is simple enough for the average joe to learn how the insides work and basic gas maintenance. Now on to the review!
Purchased From: Airsoft GI Price of Gun: $109 Price Paid: $160 - included gun, extra mag, 4000 ASGI BBs, 2 cans of green gas and silicon lubricant Total Price plus Shipping: $160 - free ground shipping Gun Bought: 6/7 Gun Shipped: 6/8 Gun Arrived: 6/14 - no ground shipping on weekends, plus I live on the east coast Time owned: ~3 weeks Real Steel Background: "Glock is an Austrian weapons manufacturer (named after the founder Gaston Glock) founded in 1963 in Deutsch-Wagram, near Vienna, Austria. The Glock 19 sees widespread use in law enforcement, but is also a very popular self-defense and carry pistol. Most agencies that use the Glock 17 can also choose the Glock 19 for concealed carry. Compared to the original Glock 17, the Glock 19 has a slide and grip that are 12 mm (0.5 in) shorter, rendering the gun easier to conceal while still retaining service pistol dimensions and performance. Magazines for the larger Glock 17 are also fully compatible with the Glock 19, but will protrude slightly." *quoted from Wikipedia Packaging: So you finally have your new KWA G19. What's the first thing you see? Well, the box of course! The box shows a picture of your new weapon on some type of red cloth. On the box, you will see a Consumer Warning, which basically talks about how this gun can be mistaken for a real firearm, and taking the orange blaze off, will violate Federal Law, and may increase the gun looking like a real firearm, thus causing more problems with the Law. Whats inside the box, may differ from where you bought it at. Mine included the manual, a sheet of paper stating the FPS, and a "beginners reference" sheet of paper which includes questions like "Which BBs do I use?", "What are the different types of gases", "Blowback vs Non Blowback" and other various questions. ![]() ![]() This gun obviously includes the gun, a magazine, a packet of BBs (around 50-100), a hop up tool, what looks to be a small container of silicon oil, and something else, which I have no idea what it is. ![]() ![]() Also, if you're not too busy drooling over your new gun, if you turn the top part of the box upside down, you will find a mini target attached to the box. It includes 3 small targets with numbers on them. The paper reads "KSC Practical Target". Even though this is a KWA, the paper says KSC, which I think is the same company, but thats a besides the point. ![]() ![]() Appearance: The gun is completely black. The slide(which is metal) is darker than the lower frame(which is ABS) of the body. I would say the slide is black, while the lower frame is a dark gray, or lighter black. On the front of the gun, you have a rail mount for things like lasers or lights which use RIS type grips. Moving down the gun, you have the tabs for field stripping the gun. Under that, you have the trigger with no trigger safety (more on that in a minute). Next to the trigger, you have the magazine release, and above that, you have the slide lock. ![]() ![]() As for the body, it has a 3 finger groove system to allow your fingers to naturally fall into place around the gun, allow for a better grip. There is a small indention in the trigger guard to allow your middle finger(or whatever finger you use after your trigger finger) to rest adding a bit more comfort while holding the gun. The front and rear part of the grip has small squares to add traction, better grip, and allow for less slip. ![]() [*img]http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/7848/011rs1.jpg[/img] On the magazine, you have nothing on the sides, but on the back you have little circles, with numbers above this. This is to show how many bullets you have. This really serves no purpose for the airsoft version just for looks. [*img]http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/6489/012dx2.jpg[/img] Since this is a KWA, there are no trademarks what so ever on this gun. The only type of markings you have on the gun is a serial number under the rail mount which reads "COP471US". I have no idea what that means, and I'm almost certain these aren't unique. There is no trigger safety either, which is kind of a bummer. The KSC on the other hand, has trademarks and a trigger safety, but has a plastic slide. It's a trade off issue - Would you rather have a metal slide now with no trademarks? Or would you want the trademarks on a plastic slide, and the trigger safety? [*img]http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/9953/013bc6.jpg[/img] [*img]http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/4839/014mc5.jpg[/img] Operation: Since this is a gas type weapon, you will need some type of gas propellant to make the gun work. This gun can take all 4 types of gas (134a, Green Gas, Red Gas, and Propane), but I have only used Green Gas in my gun. Once your magazine is loaded and filled with gas, all you have to do is put the magazine in, cock it back, and pull the trigger. Since this is a blowback model, the gun will kick back once it fires the BB. This action also causes the gun to chamber the next round, meaning you don't have to pull the slide back every time you want to shoot. That being said, this gun is semi-auto meaning however fast you pull the trigger, is how fast the gun will shoot. Once the gun has shot all the BBs, the slide will lock back as an indicator that you are out of BBs. Simply take that magazine out, and replace it with a loaded magazine. Push the slide lock down, and the gun will chamber the next round, allowing you to fire again. *Side note- if the slide is locked back, you can pull the trigger and nothing will fire, even if there is a fully loaded magazine inside. [*img]http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/537/015jl9.jpg[/img] This gun is modeled after the real thing, which is a combat weapon, meaning this gun is ready to fire at all times. That being said, there is no external safety if you don't have the trigger safety. I can't tell you how many times people, including me, have taken the magazine out, and not cleared the chamber. There is no real safety, but there are ways to not accidentally shoot someone (ie- no gas in mag, no BBs in mag, no mag period). Magazine: Nothing too special about the magazine. Release valve in the back along with numbers of bullets (mentioned earlier). An open slot in the front to put the BBs in, and to see how many you have. Performance: This gun is dead on. I was able to really use it during my first airsoft game yesterday, and I love it. Accuracy is great. I used .2's in the game, but I think I will go to .25's once this bag is done. I was able to hit a guy from about 25-30 yards away, and all I able to hit, was his upper chest / shoulder and head area (he was behind cover). I haven't touched the hop up, so it's pretty good out of the box. I was able to chrono my gun at the field, and I was shocked at the first number that came up. First shot- 350fps, second shot- 332 fps, third shot- 335 fps. That first shot is what really got me, shame it went down after that though. Future Upgrades: The upgrades I hope to make to this gun are as followed: Tight bore barrel Recoil Spring New slide and outer barrel Well, that's about it for the review. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them for you. Hope you enjoyed this review, and I hope to bring more Positives: Strong Accurate Can take lots of upgrades Negatives: No trademarks Outer barrel shows wear after small amount of use Slight barrel wobble Extra pictures: Right side: http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/4637/016ch1.jpg Right side with slide back: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/1205/017yq4.jpg Kind of hard to see, but the hop up adjustment is in there: http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1756/018ub7.jpg Hop up tool: http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/9003/019ia0.jpg Exploded shots: http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7426/020ik4.jpg http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/372/021lf1.jpg http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/4004/022qy1.jpg Outer Barrel: http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/6619/023df0.jpg Inner Barrel: http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/5787/024uk6.jpg Recoil Spring with guide: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5579/025ql4.jpg Gun with vest: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/7917/026vp7.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8189/027pk5.jpg http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/9752/028qv0.jpg http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5213/029as4.jpg http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/6315/030gq0.jpg This post has been edited by NOSintake: Jul 1 2007, 03:50 PM -------------------- Current Loadout: G&P M4A1, KWA G19

This gun obviously includes the gun, a magazine, a packet of BBs (around 50-100), a hop up tool, what looks to be a small container of silicon oil, and something else, [ which I have no idea what it is.] The thing you "have no idea what it is" is a bb loader tube |

Is there any differences between the 17 and the 19? beside the slightly different look. The Glock 17 is made in 9mm Luger and it's the Standart version. The Glock 19 is also made in 9mm Luger, but it's the Compact version. This is the only difference. Hope this helped you. Thank you. |
