Brand:ICS
Make:MP5SD5 Specs:FPS-310 w/ .2g bb's Range:147 feet Weight:6 lbs Length:778 mm Barrel Length:230 mm First Looks At first, I wasnt sure what to think. The box was completely plain, just with a sticker in the corner that said "SD5". Upon opening the box, I discovered the real beauty behind the mask. I lifted the gun, expecting the gun to be fairly light, but was instantly surprised by the weight of the gun. For a small kid like me, a six pound gun can get quite heavy after 2 hours of heavy skirmishing. One of my favorite features is the charging handle. It is pure music to listen to. It sounds just wonderful. So far I have run about 3500 rounds through it and there hasnt been a single misfire yet, except for the time I forgot to take the barrel plug out. After jumping into a stream, dropping it in the mud, and banging it into a rock, it still fired like new. 9.5/10 The Magazine/mag well The ICS magazine is a wonderful hicap mag. I have heard that Tokyo Marui mags are always better the the ICS mags, but I have found this not to be the case. The TM mag always unwinds when I put it in the well, but the ICS mag is always dependable to be sturdy and "unwindable". The mag well, however, is annoying. You have to get the mag in at the perfect angle so that it clicks in. Even though the mag is fidgety to get in, once it is in, you know it aint comin out. 8/10 The Body Having a full metal body, this gun is quite heavy but is still a bit lighter than it's real steel counterpart. The foregrip is wonderful because it is some sort of rubber composite or something and feels great in your hand. The silencer screws off, revealing what I think is a 14mm CW thread, which is a plus because the other MP5 models do not include such a feature and require an adapter. Unlike my other first review, after more research and acute listening, I have decided that the silencer really doesnt make a sound difference. 10/10 Accuracy Testing 10/10 20 feet, semi auto--grouping of about 2", just right of bull's eye 20 feet, full auto--grouping of about 2.5",all around bull's eye 40 feet, semi auto--grouping of about 3.5", on bull's eye 40 feet, full auto-- scattered about 5", all around bull's eye 80 feet, semi auto--grouping of about 6.5", all around bull's eye 80 feet, full auto--grouping of about 9.5", scattered across target 120 feet, semi auto--13 in 20 hit target 9" in diameter 120 feet, full auto--9 in 20 hit target 9" in diameter 140 feet, semi/full auto--3 in 25 hit target 9" in diameter The Fire Selector The fire selector is a great idea, but it just wasnt designed right by H&K. When the knob is set on full auto, it gets in the way of your hand, and it is really hard to get back to semi when you are under fire or completely suppressed. The only plus is the rubber coating which makes it so your finger will never slip, guaranteed.6/10 The Hop-Up The hop-up knob is the work of a genius. The little knob, after 2 hours of abuse, didnt move a millitmeter. It is hard to move, and if it gets knocked off of place, there is a little mark so you know where the knob was in relation to the mark. 10/10 Battery and Battery Compartment I love having a full stock gun because you are pretty much guaranteed to have a large battery and you know it is going to fit correctly. All you do is slide the buttplate down and pull it off, then you get to the battery compartment. The large 1800mah battery fits perfectly, all you have to do is drop it in, and it doesnt rattle or shake at all. The fuse has a little section for the case, and so all you do is pull on the wiring and the fuse casing pops out. 10/10 Uses/Efficiency This gun is a great CQB or skirmish gun. The silencer screws off, so if you want good CQB, then this is good, but for improved accuracy and better looks during skirmishes, screw the silencer back on. This gun is extremely energy-efficient. The man at Airsoft Atlanta said that I would get about 1400 shots from my large battery, but after two solid hours of skirmishing, and about 2300 rounds, my battery was still perfectly functional. I hadnt lost any RPM, range, or FPS. The only downside is that with the "Intelligent Charger" I got from AA, it takes about 9 hours to DISCHARGE, but only about 1.5 hours to charge. Maybe it'll take less if I fire everything I can get out of it, I don't know. 10/10 Overall Rating-----9/10------Great Beginner AEG This post has been edited by admin: Jul 19 2009, 02:15 PM
