IMPORTANT NEW CHANGES TO THE "Airsoft Items For Sale" Forum

There are two ways to sell your airsoft items in here; one is free and the other is paid.

If you wish to sell your items here in the "Airsoft Items For Sale" Forum, you can do one of two things:

THE FOLLOWING IS FOR MEMBERS WHO HAVE USED GEAR FOR SALE,
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT FOR DEALERS, RETAILERS, AND SUPPLIERS.

For a detailed explanation on dealers, suppliers, and retailers please read the following page: http://www.airsoftforum.com/airsoft-sponsors

#1, To sell new and used gear (not as a dealer), click here to pay to become an "Authorized Seller". When you pay, you get immediate access to the Authorized Seller group and can begin posting your new topic immediately, but you still need to following the our rules, (just as always)....

#2, If you don't want to pay, then you must help us promote http://www.SportsOnlyAuction.com (SOA) and you must have a complete / updated profile to be manually added to the "Authorized Seller Free" member group. keep in mind that there may be some delay before you are added because we have to verify that you are in compliance with the things you must do. If you don't want to wait - then pay. Paid accounts are updated immediately...

If you wish to go the free method, you must also do the following...

#2a. have a completed profile here on ASF.

#2b. help us promote SOA with a link to it from some other sports related website or forum.

#2c. Once you have been moved to the "Authorized Seller Free" member group... you can then go ahead and create a For Sale topic here in the Buy-Sell-Trade forum. (again this is not for dealers and retailers, this is only for people to sell their new and used extra or unwanted items. If you are a dealer, you must become a Sponsor or Advertisers:

http://www.airsoftforum.com/airsoft-sponsors

Basically, we are allowing members to post items here on the forums for free if they are willing to help us promote the SportsOnlyAuction.com (SOA) website. As long as your link is up and pointing to SOA, you can stay in the Free Seller member group here.

To sign up now and pay: http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/index.ph...&CODE=index If you're an advertiser or wish to Sponsor ASF, click here

Added Bonus....
All "Authorized Sellers" can now also...

a. open and close their own topics!
b. You now get 5 days to edit your posts whereas everyone else only gets 24 hours.

That being said though,
- IF you are going to edit your original post, please edit it wisely and DO NOT WIPE IT OUT WHEN YOU ARE DONE OR REMOVE ITEMS THAT HAVE SOLD. We would like to keep a record of the topic and the items listed. We PREFER that you update your "Original Post" (OP) in a reply, but if you must edit your original to fix a MISTAKE, then do it wisely so that 6 months from now when someone else comes along and wants to review what you did, they can read a topic that makes chronological sense.

MORE ON THIS REASON...
The main reasons for the previous 24 hour limit on editing a post was so that the original post could not be altered. This was set like that to reduce scamming and to limit the ability of a dishonest seller going back and changing something that wasn't originally part of the deal. Also, by not allowing people to just go back and delete or blank out their original post, it maintained integrity for the entire Airsoft Forum here in terms of creating a library or history of content.

For example.... If you sell your item and 6 months later someone wants to check your thread but all they find is "SORRY this item SOLD" for an original post or topic title - then that would hurt the board here and not be very useful for future visitors to that topic who may want to see what it sold for, etc.

Additionally, by disallowing people to go back and change the price or quantity, or item and forcing them to update their OP with a reply - this keeps the post more understandable and user friendly as well as less confusing. it also forces the viewers to actually read the topic and replies - not just the first post.

c. Normally external links here in member signatures are NOT ALLOWED (except by paid advertisers and Sponsors), However, If you have listings on SOA or if you have created a free "Store Front" over there, you are allowed to place a clickable link to that listing here in your signature.

HOW TO GET A FREE SELLER ACCOUNT.....
..............................................................
(this does not apply to retailers, dealers, suppliers, advertisers, etc. This only applies to members wanting to sell new and used extra or unwanted airsoft items). If you wish to advertise or sell new items here as a dealer, you need to read this page: http://www.airsoftforum.com/airsoft-sponsors

Previously, we have been trying to force everyone wanting a free seller account on ASF to use the http://SportsOnlyAuction.com (SOA) website, but as you can imagine, this wasn't working and we don't want to force you guys to use something you don't want to use. We also want to make the free-seller accounts as least troublesome as possible for new members that don't want to pay as well as maintain value for those that do pay.

Instead of being required to use SOA, everyone wanting a free seller account here on ASF will simply be required to recommend SOA (SportsOnlyAuction.com) on some other forum or website (without spamming that forum), and that's it. No more listings needed on SOA, no more forcing or asking you to use it and no more trying to make proper ads on there or linking them back and forth between ASF and SOA.

If you want a free seller account, all you simply do now is go to some forum that you already have an account on and post a link to SOA recommending it in a way that it doesn't appear to be spamming that other forum and you're done.

The easiest way to do this without spamming that forum is to simply add the link in your signature there. Otherwise, you can find a topic on a related forum where you think linking to SOA would be helpful, post a link to it with a statement about it and then email the link to what you've done so I can make sure it doesn't appear to be spamming that forum and you're in the free seller account with no more requirements.

As I said, the easiest way to do this, is just add a link to SOA in your signature on another forum. Your link can be on any sports related forum, not just airsoft so if you have an account on a fitness, hunting, fishing, basketball, football, firearms, camping, hiking, etc. - any of those can work. Here are the categories of forums you can post the link to SOA on: http://www.sportsonlyauction.com/browse.asp If you have something in mind that isn't listed, let me know.

If you prefer or if signature links are not allowed on that forum, you can post a reply or new topic on that forum as long as the post or reply is relative to what is being talked about there and does not appear to be spamming that forum. If you simply go try to spam the SOA website on unrelated topics or etc, that isn't going to fly - your link must be relative to what is being talked about there.

Additionally, if you add a link to SOA in your signature on a forum where you have 250 posts or more, I will add you to the Authorized Seller Elite member group here ! That's right, previously the AS-Elite member account was only a paid member group here. The last time we made a change to the AS-Free member group requirements, we made it so that AS-Elite Free accounts were no longer given out - you had to pay for an Authorized-Seller-Elite account... but if you have 250 or more posts on another sports related forum, and you add a link to SOA in your signature there, you can be added to the AS-Elte group for free now.

UPDATES:

1. above say to email me... I rarely check this topic (if ever) - so if you do not email me - you could be waiting for a long time, and

2. you must also have a completed / updated profile here such as age, location, additional contact info, etc..

3. your "link" must be clickable, it must be a hyper link that a person can click on and go to the SportsOnlyAuction.com website (not have to type it in)

4. the link must go to SportsOnlyAuction.com - not an advertisement page first. I am finding that some websites (such as airsoftsociety.com) take you to an obscure advertisement page first and force the person to choose the correct link to actually go to the website - that's not going to fly.

5. Websites that do not qualify... links on the following websites are not authorized
. a) airsoftsociety.com
. b) ASB

6. Your link will not work on a forum that requires the viewer to login in order to see the link.

7. signature links should look something like the following when you edit them:
CODE
  [url="http://sportsonlyauction.com"]Airsoft Auctions[/url] or [url=http://sportsonlyauction.com]Airsoft Auctions[/url] (without quotes)... or HTML Code: <a href="http://sportsonlyauction.com">Airsoft Auctions</a>
or simply: http://www.SportsOnlyAuction.com listed in your signature there (but the anchor text "Airsoft Auctions" is preferred. If its a paintball, football or some other forum, make the anchor text relative to the site you post the link on.

Wheres the money going? How does this protect buyers/sellers any more then the old system did? how much revenue has been generated thus far? I think these are important questions that should be answered. Better yet, is this forum part of a non profit organization?

The money goes to paying the server fees. The number of scams has dropped significantly with this new system.

the above rules have been updated. Please read them.

The basic changes are..

Instead of having to use SOA in exchange for a free seller account here, all you have to do now is post a link to SOA from some other website or forum. You can also add a link to SOA in your signature on another forum if that is allowed and members on those other forums with more than 250 posts can get an Authorized Seller Elite account.

This topic is to clarify the requirements on having an Authorized Seller Account.

UPDATED: December 21th, 2010

Please read this if you are interested in selling here on our forum. If you're only a buyer, there are no requirement for you and this doesn't really concern you. It would be helpful however, if you have a completed profile here and make sure that so does the seller so that we can help you in the event of a problem or dispute.

That's being said, we are not responsible for transactions that take place here so you are advise to use our Buy-Sell-Trade forums with caution and at your own risk.

First, there are both free and paid "Authorized Seller" accounts.

You can pay to get an Authorized Seller (AS-Paid) account immediately,
or you can choose to go the free route by following a few simple rules to get a FREE Authorized Seller Account (AS-free).

People who pay for the Authorized Seller account upgrade are granted immediate access, (as well as other benefits - see the upgrade page). BUT SELLERS ARE STILL REQUIRED TO HAVE A COMPLETED PROFILE! If you wish to upgrade to an Authorized Seller account for immediate access to post a For-Sale topic, click here

If you have an Authorized Seller-Paid account, please take a minute to update and complete your profile. We are removing people from this group in periodic random checks who do not have required information to stay in this member group. If you wish to stay in the AS-paid member group, please make sure that you have an updated and complete profile.. It is helpful for both the buyer and seller to have a completed profile so that we can try to help in moments of missed communication or problems but we are not responsible for your transactions here.

The following is what we need and require of you:

1. Multiple Lines of Communication. (These are not all individually required if you don't have each and every one of these, but if you do have one and you use it, please list it below)

1a. Secondary Email Address. required
1b. Your working phone number. required (only administrators can read or view your phone number)
1c. Your choice of Instant Messenger. (not required but helpful if you have one you use.)
1d. your website url, (not required - but helpful - facebook, myspace or some sort of alternate community website that you can be reached at)

2. Your Date of Birth (required - this is a requirement, please list it accurately. If you're uncomfortable about posting it, then at least give the correct year so buyers and sellers can know each others age in whom they are dealing with.)
3. male or female? (not required but helpful)
4. Your Location. (required - your city and state is required. At least put your state or country if out of the USA)
5. Your interests. (not required but helpful)
6. Airsoft Replicas Owned. (not required but helpful)

7. SOA Name. (this is not required but helpful if you are also using our Auction Site for transactions: http://SportsOnlyAuction.com ) In other words, it is very helpful if you also have an account on http://SportsOnlyAuction.com (SOA) but having an account there is not required. If you are requesting a free seller account here, you will need to help us promote SOA.

Please take a few minutes and provide the above information.
All of the above information can be updated on the following page / link:
http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/edit-profile-info.html

................................................................................

If you have an Authorized Seller-FREE (AS-free) account, or if you wish to get one, you MUST HAVE all of the above information listed in your profile and you must also do the following:

UPDATE 12/21/2010....................... the following are new rules for a free seller account......................

Once your profile is complete and you have emailed me a link to where you have promoted or recommended SOA, send me an email to admin / airsoftforum.com with your ASF screen name and a link to where I can go verify your promotion and approve your request.

You can not PM another admin about your free seller account, you must email me to get your request approved. You can also send me a text letting me know that you have emailed me for faster service. We are only allowing free accounts if you are willing to help us promote the SOA website. If you really don't want to use it, or you think helping us in exchange for helping you - sucks, then pay for an upgraded account.

a-salute.gif

Ok, so here is the following email explanation I sent out on 12/17/2010 explaining the new rule change for free seller accounts....

Previously (and as you know), we have been trying to force everyone wanting a free seller account on ASF to use the http://SportsOnlyAuction.com (SOA) website. As you also know, this really isn't working and we don't want to force you guys to use something you don't want to use. We also want to make the free-seller accounts as least troublesome as possible for new members that don't want to pay as well as maintain value for those that do pay.

Instead of being required to use SOA, everyone wanting a free account will simply be required to recommend SOA (SportsOnlyAuction.com) on some other forum or website (without spamming that forum), and that's it.

Email the link to what you've done so I can make sure it doesn't appear to be spamming that forum and you're in the free seller account with no more requirements.

If you prefer or if signature links are not allowed on that forum, you can post a reply or new topic on that forum as long as the post or reply is relative to what is being talked about there. If you simply go try to spam the SOA website on unrelated topics or etc, that isn't going to fly - your link must be relative to what is being talked about there.

The easiest way to do this, is just add a link to SOA in your signature on another forum.

How cool is that?

As you can see, this will be a lot easier than the previous requirements for a free seller account. If you don't know what to say about SOA, show me the forum and where you want to put it and I'll email you back what to say there.. Basically, just go to some other forum that you already have an account on and edit your signature to link to http://www.sportsonlyauction.com with some relative or related anchor text worlds like "Sports Auction Site" or "Football Auctions", "Trading Card Auctions" or etc or find a topic that you can reply to with a suggestion or recommendation of SOA and that's it.

What I am asking you is no different than someone coming to ASF and posting a link to http://www.airsoftgi.com when someone asks where's a good place to buy a certain aeg.

This new requirement is effective immediately and everyone currently in the AS-Free member group has now been removed until they can comply with the new requirement of posting at least one link to SOA somewhere. Once you have done that, email or text me instructions on how I can verify your link so that it doesn't appear like spam and I'll add you to the AS-Free member group for free and that's it..

"So what's the catch?", you ask? Well, if or when your link goes away, so does your free seller account. So as long as you will make a good faith effort to link to SOA and the link stays there, you're good to go here. If I make a random check and the link is gone, you will probably get removed from the free seller account without question or warning. That's only fair I think. I mean if your link is up, then so is your ASF free seller account, if not then how fair for us is that? I really think this is a win-win situation for everyone. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for your assistance. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know.

I just want to say that using SOA is actually really easy. You can toss up an ad in like 5 seconds and it's nice to have a record of a sale in case things go south.

Hello Ware Rabbit and WELCOME TO ASF!

Welcome to our forum, we're glad to have you with us. The account upgrade you actually purchased was the "Elite Member Yearly" not the "Authorized Seller Yearly". They are different accounts with different benefits. Since you basically made your upgrade the same day the promotion started, I will upgrade you to the Authorized Seller - Elite account

We are actually running a special promotion right now for "Authorized Seller - Elite" upgrade for the same price as the "Elite Member Yearly"..

We are also give away lifetime email accounts on our server (yourname<AT>airsoftforum.com) for a limited number of accounts. Also included in this promotion are a list of our advertisers who are giving these members un-heard of discounts up to 60% on selected items.

To qualify all a member has to do is upgrade to Authorized Seller - Elite,
or make a donation of at least $10 during this limited promotion.

For more info, read the following topic:

Letting you know that I have added the SOA to my signature on our local motorcycle forum. A lot of us play airsoft and paintball and SOA should get a few hits. I once had an authorized account so my profile and all information should be correct as it was before.

UPDATES:

remember, your "link" must be clickable, it must be a hyper link that a person can click on and go to the SportsOnlyAuction.com website (not have to type it in)

Also, the link must go to SportsOnlyAuction.com - not an advertisement page first. I am finding that some websites (such as airsoftsociety.com) take you to an obscure advertisement page first and force the person to choose the correct link to actually go to the website - that's not going to fly.

If you're not sure how to edit your signature in order to make the link clickable, here are some examples (depending on the forum software)

BB Code:
CODE
[url="http://sportsonlyauction.com"]Airsoft Auctions[/url]

HTML Code:
CODE
<a href="http://sportsonlyauction.com">Airsoft Auctions</a>

or simply: http://www.SportsOnlyAuction.com

It would be preferable to have one of the 1st two code examples above so that the "anchor text" (Airsoft Auctions) is clickable and links to the website.

Here is a list of websites that will not work. I will update it as needed...

#1 any website that forces a visitor to login first before seeing the link or signature, isn't going to work
#2 the website you post the SOA link on must not take you first to an obscure advertisement page and force the visitor to view the website's advertisements first (example: airsoftsociety.com) and then make the visitor choose the correct link to actually go to the SOA website

The reader asked, "Dear Uticus, Our preacher said that Jesus swooned (fell in a coma) on the cross and then His disciples nursed Him to health. What do you think? Signed, Bewildered." Uticus responded, "Dear Bewildered, Beat your preacher with a cat-o'-nine-tails thirty-nine times. Nail him to a cross. Hang him in the sun for six hours. Run a spear through his side, embalm him, and put him in an airless tomb for thirty-six hours and see what happens. Sincerely, Uticus."

Alright, I completed my profile here on ASF, and I have added a SportsOnlyAuction link to my signature on the Bay Area Airsoft League forums, as seen here: http://www.bayareaairsoft.org/forum/index....c,10163.45.html. I have over 250 posts on that forum

Finished up my profile and have my link on my mcarterbrown account
http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/yard-sa...ptop-fs-ft.html

close, but I believe that's a paintball forum, change your link from "Airsoft Auctions" to "Paintball Gear Auctions", the code should look something like this:

CODE
[url="http://sportsonlyauction.com"]Paintball Gear Auctions[/url]

QUOTE (siroman @ Feb 2 2011, 02:22 AM) *
So I posted on pbnation.com and have well over 250 posts. http://www.pbnation.com/member.php?u=367742

I think thats it right?

...also very close, but change is so that it reads "Paintball Gear Auctions" and links to the SOA website. the code should look something like this:

CODE
[url="http://sportsonlyauction.com"]Paintball Gear Auctions[/url]

The goal and objective here is that your link be relative to the sports related auction site that you are trying to post your link on. If its a baseball website, make the link read "Baseball related auctions", baseball card auctions, or something like that, If its a paintball auction, see above.. if its an airsoft auction - your signature link there should read, "Airsoft Auctions" and so on.

QUOTE (emobaggage @ Feb 3 2011, 04:03 AM) *
Alright, I completed my profile here on ASF, and I have added a SportsOnlyAuction link to my signature on the Bay Area Airsoft League forums, as seen here: http://www.bayareaairsoft.org/forum/index....c,10163.45.html. I have over 250 posts on that forum

the link must be visible to guests. I do not see the link.
This will not work on a forum that requires the viewer to login in order to see the link.

Please also note (two things):
#1 the instructions above say to email me...
I rarely check this topic (if ever) - so if you do not email me -
you could be waiting for a long time, and
#2 you must also have a completed / updated profile here
such as age, location, additional contact info, etc..

SOA is a great website; but there isn't enough traffic right now. I think it would be extremely beneficial if people who are using SOA could post links to their items in the FS section without being a Authorized Seller.

Example would be:

"I have 3 items for sale in SOA:

AK47 w/ 6 magazines

MP5 w/ battery and two magazines

Full condor chest rig"

(Note: none of the links lead anywhere.)

That way it would first off encourage people to use SOA; and second off we'd get the added advantage of a TON of traffic in the from the FS section. In fact, there could even be a separate section for SOA linked threads. This is all just an idea I had...

I have over 250 posts on FileFront and they do have a sports section of the forums, sports (especially cycling) are played by most of the members there even though it is a gaming forum, but if that doesn't cut it just let me know. Take a look at my profile. I put SOA in my signature as well as "my website" information on my profile.

OK, I emailed you Admin :P

Just in case, ill post it here too:

Here is the link to an example topic as you can't see members unless you are registered, so I won't link my user profile.
This is in my local AS forum, so you can see I am sponsoring SOA in my signature:

http://airsoftreserve.darkbb.com/t3102-1911-hi-capa-parts

I believe my account has all the requirements, age, phone #, etc.

Thanks.
