I was playing airsoft today, and the outer barrel on my brand new JG AUG just fell off in the middle of the game. I tried to fix it but had to call myself out. After the game I tried fixing it for about an hour. What happened was that the metal part of the outer barrel(visible from outside of gun) fell out of the part of the outer barrel that connects it with the plastic part of the outer barrel(visible only when removing outer barrel assembly). I thought the culprit was in the gas regulator but I've tied and tried with no luck.

This gun is brand new and this is my second skirmish with it. I also think I lost a piece of the hop up assembly in the sand. I can't stick the adjuster dial on the hop-up unit.

Please help. Is the metal part of the outer barrel supposed to be glued? I was supposed to airsoft again tomorrow at a place a million times better than today's. Please help...

Thank you.

Hope this helps:

I can't exactly tell, but I think that that part is supposed to screw in? Otherwise, you've been mistreating your gun or it was badly made.
What's with the taped stock?

I didn't take that picture...lol. I figure they're using a large battery. Also, I tried those screws in the plastic part. It didn't work. BTW, It doesn't seem broken, because there is a notch for the outer barrel not to turn, so it seems like it's meant to come out. I just can't get it to stay.

Do you have any other guns that you could use in the war tomorrow? If not then you could try to tape it up until you find a solution to your problem.

I use to have problems with my outer barrel coming loose. What I did was put Teflon tape on the gun to give it a tighter fit to the rest of the gun. I also put it on the regulator cap to prevent it from popping out during a game.

Also field strip your gun and take a picture of the hop up and the parts in question.

mine did the same freaking thing today on the field.....I picked up the gun by the barrel, and it almost fell apart in my hand. I've upgraded my AUG, and had it apart many time, and I've never noticed that part of the barrel being loose before......there doesn't even seem to be any screw that is directly responsible for holding it in!

why would you pick up a gun by its barrel? I always feel really weird and insecure doing it...

any ideas on how to fix it without any external additions?

It was leaning against a tree, barrel up, so it seemed like the easiest place to grab it.....it's not like barrels are supposed to just pull out!

I haven't had a chance to look at it since then to be honest with you.

Look on the back of the outer barrel. There's a notch that goes all the way around it and I'm not sure if that means anything. And with the hop-up, I think there's a piece that you stick on the unit, and the dial goes on that piece. I remember holding an extra piece like that after I went to take apart my gun. I couldn't find the dial and once I did I lost that piece. I looked and looked but had to leave the field.

That grove all the way around the rear end of the barrel does mean something. There's supposed to be a small pin that sticks through the place where the barrel goes onto on the gun. Look for a small hole thingy.

BTW, in my case, the outer barrel is slipping in and out freely. There's not reallly any resistance like it's not supposed to be a tight fit. It just falls right out like something broke that was supposed to hold it. Is this how it is for you, juaninanos and h0ndajunkie(or anyone else)?

It was similar until I applied the Teflon tape.

I put duct tape on the outer barrel, stuck it in, and it holds fine. Thank you. But what actually caused it to just fall out and not want to stay in? And BTW, did you apply the teflon on the notch or somewhere else?

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm missing a piece to the hop-up. Without removing the actual hop-up unit, I think two pieces can slip off of it. The adjuster dial and something else(what I'm missing). Does anybody know what it is?

what would be a more permanent solution than teflon (or other) tape?

Probably drilling a very small hole, somewhere that will not be very noticable, and taping it for a very small screw....that's pretty permanent.

Just found this.

QUOTE
Take the foregrip off by taking the bottom plate of it off and unhooking the spring. Then push the pin holding the foregrip on out. If it's difficult to push the pin out, you are probably pushing from the wrong side. Once the foregrip is removed, you will see a small hole with a hex screw in it. Your hex screw may be loose, so all you need to do is tighten it. It might be missing too, in that case you will probably have to buy a new one. That's probably what's wrong with your barrel.

Is there any way I can get this part without buying a new hop-up unit?

But what goes on first, the one I have the arrow pointing to, or the dial above it?

Wowwwwwww.... I'm an idiot. The piece I'm pointing to was on it, but I had the dial off and didn't know that if I twisted the piece it would come off. It's all good now. I'm all fixed up.
