Jing Gong G36c (G608) Assault Rifle
Manufacturer: The manufacturer of this gun is Jing Gong. They are a Chinese ‘clone’ company and base their models on Tokyo Marui guns. Model: G36c Assault Rifle. This Airsoft gun is based on the Heckler & Koch G36c 5.56mm Assault Rifle which was designed in the early 1990’s and accepted into the German Army in 1995. Specification: Power: 350fps-365fps Rate Of Fire (ROF) 800 Rounds per Minute Approximately Effective Range: 150ft Approx Spring: M110 (350fps) Length: 718mm Stock Extended (500mm Stock Folded) Weight: 2850g Including Battery (6.5lbs) Barrel: 247mm Standard G36c Barrel Piston: Polycarbonate Wiring: 16 Gauge This weapon is an Automatic Electric Gun. It uses an 8.4V Mini-Type Battery (An 8.4v 1100mAh Battery is included.) Cost & Place of Purchase: I purchased this gun from my local Airsoft retailer, Combat South, Hampshire, United Kingdom). Introduction: First Impressions: When I opened the box at the store, I was immediately impressed. I have had a brief look at this gun before but had never looked at it in detail. I live in the UK and I am not currently a registered skirmisher as I am only 16. Because of this, my gun had to be painted “Two-Tone”. Despite the semi-blue paint job, I was very happy with the look. I had a quick hold of the gun and then took it home. I connected the battery as soon as I was in, and had a few test shots. I was very happy with the performance of the gun. I had my gun downgraded to around 330fps in order to comply with site restrictions. The power of this gun is excellent. It really does have great power behind it. I was also very impressed with the rate of fire. I already had a VP 8.4v 1500mAh battery charged so I therefore used this. This has a very high ROF for a stock gun so I was very happy overall. Looks: After a few shots I had a very detailed look of the exterior of the gun. This gun is made mainly of ABS plastic and is very, very sturdy indeed. There are no trademarks on the receiver of this gun, although personally I don’t need trademarks on my guns. The only two parts of the exterior that are inferior quality are the cocking handle (used to reveal hop-up) and the magazine. The cocking handle is very flimsy and needs to be taken care of, but if you treat it well it will last. The magazine is also made of a cheaper plastic, but it does feed very well so I cannot see this as a problem. ![]() Metal Parts: Although the majority of the gun is made from very strong, robust ABS plastic there are a number of metal parts on this gun. These include: Flash-Hider, Front Sling Point, Lower RIS Rail, Front and Rear Sights, Trigger, Selector Switch, Stock Lock/Release Button, The Bottom Pistol Grip Cover (Motor Cover), And Hop-Up Cover. ![]() Performance: I have not had a chance yet to carry out tests of the performance, from what I have seen from firing though it is very good. This has three fire selection modes: Safety, Semi-Automatic, and Full Automatic. This is a very accurate gun in both semi and automatic firing modes. This gun is also very powerful and has an excellent Rate of Fire. When I have carried out multiple tests I shall write an update. Features: Included in the box: • The Gun • 8.4v 1100mAh NiMH Mini-Type Battery • 250Ah Plug In, Fast Wall charger (Avoid using this, and purchase a smart charger) • One 470 Round Hi-Capacity Magazine • Un-Jamming Rod • Small Pack Of 200 BB’s (I would not recommend using) This gun has a number of features. The gun has a folding stock, ideal for use in CQB environments if you find you do not want the stock open. The stock on this gun is very, very study when it is locked into place open or folded. It is also extremely sturdy whilst in the process of folding it. There really is no wobble. The G36c features two excellent iron sights. The rear sight has to flip-up apertures for either longer or shorter range shooting. This iron sight is easily adjusted for windage and elevation using a small Allen key. The selector switch is fully functioning and is made of metal. It has a very smooth action, and clicks firmly into place. I did pick up on the fact that the selector markings actually have a hint of orange in them rather than the usual red colour. The G36c also features a large MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny (RIS) rail, which is situated on top of the carry handle. This is excellent for mounting a scope/sight and I have purchased a G&P 1X30 Reflex Red Dot Scope. This sight is an excellent addition to this gun and also looks at home on this weapon. The battery included with this gun is a Shuang Ba 8.4v 1100mAh Nickel Metal Hydrate (NiMH) Mini-Type Battery. I have heard mixed feedback on Chinese batteries, but I must say this has been excellent so far. It holds its charge very well which I was fairly surprised at, as I have heard the Chinese batteries tend not to last as long. I strongly recommend purchasing another battery as a spare simply because you do not want a battery running flat during a skirmish. The charger included with this gun is, in my opinion, pretty low quality. I have not actually used it because it is much more sensible to purchase a ‘smart charger’ which have peak detection and auto cut-off features. You cannot really expect much from the charger as it is included with the gun and is just a cheap, plug in wall charger. It comes with a 2 Pin Euro adapter, so those in other countries such as the UK would have to use a shaver adapter. From the feedback I have heard about it, it is quite unreliable and to be honest it is not worth ruining good, expensive batteries when you could purchase a better charger. If you respect your equipment, it will respect you in return. Internals: I have not yet disassembled this gun yet, but I have heard great things about the internals. This is the latest, Version 3 and I believe it comes with 7mm metal ball bearings/bushings. A while ago I saw in a thread that “The new Jing Gong G36c Version 3 (V3) has excellent high torque motor, black reinforced gearbox made with better quality metal, Steel CA gears, and generally better internals all around.” I have only made one replacement to the internals and that was a simple spring change carried out in-store. This is because the 350fps + is far ‘too hot’ for UK site limits. Most UK woodland sites have a limit of 350fps and Urban Sites 330fps. This downgrade also means other internals will be put under less stress and is overall a very beneficial downgrade. I believe the gearbox may have been re-greased in-store whilst it was being downgraded, but other than that I plan to make no upgrades just yet except for a simple re-shim and re-grease for example in the near future. Magazine: The magazine included with this gun is actually very good. It is made of a lower quality, and cheaper plastic than the rest of the gun, but it should stand up well. The magazine had fed perfectly for all the times I have used my gun. The capacity of this hi-cap magazine is 470 Rounds. This is a perfect size as it is not too small but on the other hand it is not too large. The magazine is very easy to load. As with all other Hi-Caps, all that needs to be done is a small door at the top of the magazine to be opened. The BB’s can then be poured easily into the magazine ready for winding. Conclusion: In conclusion I feel that this is an excellent gun. It is of excellent construction and it has all the features and quality of the Tokyo Marui equivalent, but at a fraction of a price. I would recommend this gun to anyone whether you are an avid Airsofter wanting a new gun for your armoury, or just a new skirmisher looking for a first gun. Overall this is a brilliant gun and I have been delighted with my purchase. (Image of my gun after the spray paint job, and yes, it is legal) I have in fact replaced one part of my gun, and that is the fuse. The 15 Amp 'Glass' Fuse included with the gun is in fact made of a cheap plastic and cracks very easily. Mine cracked so I had to replace mine, but I strongly recommend to all owners to replace it straight away as cracking during a skirmish would not be good! Another thing I changed, as you can see in the final picture of my review was the paint job of the gun. I conducted extensive research and found out that it is legal to modify or change a two-toned gun, as long as it is used for the correct purposes and at a skirmish site that has PLI Insurance. Great review Tom! Plenty of detail but I think you could do with a few more pictures. However I am not a mod and I don't get the choice as to whether it passes or not. The pictures you do have though are great and having myself fired this gun (yours in-fact) I will say that it is amazing the ROF is insane (at around 800rpm) and the weight of the gun is well balanced. And I remember hearing that the JG mag feeds better than the Tokyo Marui Hi-caps.
Anyway great review -------------------- ![]() |

I guess that explains the flourescent green thundermaul and sniper rifle I seen on google
but yea the jg is pretty good apparently. externals are plasticy, but a solid and well performing clone model I had gotten one for christmas yet it wasnt very long at all before I did enough stuff to it that you cant even really call it a jg internally or externally anymore now I had bought my brother a used one off of spud who got it from badcompany. its seen two previous owners that I know of and it is apparent that it has indeed seen a bit of use and its still running perfect like it was brand new This post has been edited by Dusti69: Apr 1 2009, 06:04 PM -------------------- |

And yes, I will definately get some pictures of some internals. I haven't yet actually dissasembled my gun yet though. AWESOME PAINT JOB!!! VERY nice review. I have one of these and it's a dream.
One thing though: Make sure to adjust the AoE out of the box if you know how. It would have saved me 3 pistons if I had done it sooner. :) One of my favorites, and at a good price. Nice paint job BTW. looks really good -------------------- |

I got one of these and your review's pretty spot on! I love the G36 family and hope to add more into my collection.
I will be looking out for the 25 fuse, I was thinking of going 9.6 for this but I am still enjoying stock ROF at the moment. Btw, just to share. I saw the ARES G36 in a shop and tho the plastic is slightly more matt. The seams on the ARES are pretty severe compared to an almost unnoticeable seams on JG's. B |

On the CA also? This made me more convince G36 are best with JG. I also felt the ARES G36 are much lighter than JG too!
But I have to be honest that the lack of engraved reciever is starting to grow onto me. Is neglectable of course! Just the finer details. Tom, I hope you don't mind me riding on your thread to ask the question below. Has anyone attempted to take the reciever to engravers so far? I noticed there is this Hong Kong company that sells their JG G36 with engraved reciever but upon having a close look, I supposed they merely uses CA or ARES recievers which are more matt on the surface and just stuff it into the JG? Have a look here, enlarge the photo: http://www.massive.hk/eshop/index.php?main...products_id=208 Anyway, this review and responds to this thread has help me decided to get a second piece to use as special force piece which I am still trying to find photos of the paint and what equipments they added on the gun. the seams on the ca handguard are easilly acceptable. mine was used, maybe it was because of that. but point is ca uses a way better material than jgs. you can tell the difference with your eyes closed. plus the ca body can handle harsh laquer stripper if you happen to paint the gun and decide you want to remove the paint where im sure the jg body would probly melt
I was kinda suprised by the lack of any markings at all as well. the junk BE sl-8 id gotten even has some receiver markings I don't think its really worth it to have custom engraving done on a jg body. itd probly be cheaper and simpler to buy a new or used better brand receiver if tades/markings are that important to you. youd be a lot more happier with a more durable and rugged body anyway or you could even do some custom dremel work. theres an engraving bit for the dremel. I have one and its pretty tiny. you could get one and practice with it This post has been edited by Dusti69: Apr 17 2009, 12:15 AM -------------------- |

Now, what you said is true! I supposed the more expensive AEG uses plastic materials same as those RC plane engine mounts. Some kinda reinforced fibre plactics, I forgotten the name for it. ABS have a tendency to turn brittle cracks in time.
JG got the entire G36 family on their catalog and I wanted all of them. ARES/CA are 3 times the price of JG here so, no go for those for me. However, you brought up an interesting subject, sir! Are CA/ARES/TM recievers readily available? I mean, just the empty shell. Any ideas what their price range are like? I have look around in quite a bit of websites but no stores I came across sells such spare parts. The shops I go to here does not carry spares and if they do, they are usually priced high enough for you to consider getting an entire brand new AEG instead. Thanks! B |

Hello Tom,
Yes, its no biggie but thought they might just look sweet on it. I got this idea only after handling the ARES demo piece in the shop. I went around looking for CA recievers, don't see none but their parts for this AEG is price around JG's complete G36 so, I will go back to my original plan to look for engravers. Come to think about it! I think I saw someone who engraved on his JG somewhere online before too! Just to share. You painted on your blue parts, ABS last indefinitely when painted on. I look forward to your review of your next purchase, Tom! B |

Hello Tom, Yes, its no biggie but thought they might just look sweet on it. B Hey Boxter, Yeah, It definately would look excellent with the trades and I think I with the trademarks. And yes the paintjob seems as though it will last. Thanks for the positive comment anyway, Tom -------------------- ![]() |

Thanks for the great review, will definitely refer this to my friend, who just bought this gun Thank you for taking your time to read it, it is indeed a very nice gun and I'm sure your friend will be happy with it. I still need to add edits to this review such as the internals in detail. When I open up the gearbox for upgrades I shall be sure to review the internals. Just wanted to share that I bought the 608-6 and for some reason. This piece is lighter, don't know why and it shoots great and without a problem. I am using 9.6 v that came with the JG S-System and yes, its more fun!
However, the butt stock came crooket (spell, damn this spelling escape me this minute), the club foot buttstock also got lotsa free play and I will be getting a nicer replacement for it. The M4 magazine is metal and nice BUT even tho its locked. Its got some free play which I find it rather annoying. I will be getting the M4 double mag and the Ak style M4 mag for it soon. Just thought I share my opinion on the last G36 variant from JG! For those who wanted this piece and hasn't get it, I suggest you post haste your decision. B |

hi there nice review, I was just wondering what paint you used to spray over the blue? was it straight from the can? I need to do the same to my a&k lr300! Thanks. Are you in the UK too? If so about spraying an imitation firearm. It does state in the VCRA Act itself (Section 36 I believe) that it will be accpeted as a defense to modify an 'IF' into a 'RIF' or realistic immitation firearm if used for the correct purposes. But yeah, I got the paint from the store 'Halfords'. They specialize in car parts etc. The paint was a standard 'Matt Black' and gave me stunning results. I was really happy with the paint job. Anyway, Good Luck With The Spray! This post has been edited by Tom-843: May 30 2009, 07:37 PM -------------------- ![]() |

Nice review. Quick question about the cheap fuse, where in the gun is it located? I'm not an expert in disassembling guns so...
And where did you get the new fuse? Cuz I just got mine a few days ago and decided to replace it now before I enter a tournament... -------------------- ![]() |

Cuz I just got mine a few days ago and decided to replace it now before I enter a tournament... Thanks. Yeah, the fuse in the gun is located inside the foregrip. You simply pop out the pin, and slide off the foregrip like you do whilst inserting or removing the battery and then the fuse is located just inside. I recommend getting another 15A Glass fuse like the one you already get with the gun. I purchased mine from 'Halfords' a UK Car Parts company, but you can find glass fuses at many electrical retailers, they're not hard to come by. Hope That Helps -------------------- ![]() |

Great review. I just ordered this gun yesterday, and, after reading this review, I'm pretty sure it will be up to par. It may be worth a little more than its price. I'm kind of iffy on the charger, though, because I'm spent after ordering the gun, and can't afford a smart charger right now, but if I ruin the battery, I guess I'll just have to get a new one.

Thanks for the comment.
Yeah, You won't be dissappointed. It's an excellent gun. As for the charger, if you time the charges correctly by using the battery charge formula then I'm sure your battery will last fine until you purchase a decent charger. I have had this gun for a few months. I have absoulutly zero complaints!! Accurate and some power behind it. Got it from airsoftgi and they chronoed it at almost 370! little more than the 330 it was advertised at. I suggest it with mid caps-personal preferance. Im lazy and hate winding hi-caps. Sights are nice I will add. Gotten plenty of kills with this gun
