OK guys, as promised, here is my KJW M700 review. Bear with me, since it's really really long, but I think I covered everything you'll ever want to know.
Introduction: After dealing with the endless problems of the KJW Mk1 Carbine and swearing to never buy a "budget" sniper rifle again, I saw this. At first, I thought "oh great, another 'budget sniper' that shoots an insane fps with no accuracy and crap range. I'll pass." I then began to look into buying a new airsoft gun, knowing that I would be getting a large paycheck soon. I looked at a few AEGs (CA36c, G&G UMG, Marui MP5k PDW), revolvers (Tanakas), and even a gas shotgun (airsoftarmory's upgraded Marushin M500 SSB 8mm), but had my doubts about all of them. I knew I didn't really need another AEG (my AK47 is perfect for me), a revolver would be impractical and expensive, and a shotgun (although extremely cool) wouldn't really fit my playing style. So, after about a month of indecision, I started looking at the M700 again, and noticed Harenil's review of it on ASR. The gun really impressed me, and after some research and after Jungletoy got them back in stock, I decided to take a leap of faith and buy it. Three days later, FedEx arrived at my door with a large box, but to my dismay, it looked like it had gone through WWIII. The box had a 2 foot long gash in it, sounded as if the 0.28g BBs I bought with it had torn open, and upon opening it, the gun's barrel was at a 45 degree angle with the reciever. I told the FedEx guy it was unacceptable, so he took it back to Jungletoy's warehouse in Chino (~2 hours from my house). After a week of waiting and many calls to Jungletoy (who apologized and actually were really nice about the whole thing), the gun arrived at Jungletoy's warehouse, and my dad (who was in the area for work) picked it up and brought it home. First Impressions: My dad drove up and handed me a very large brown cardboard box with "KJWorks M700P Bolt Action Airsoft Rifle" in large black lettering on the side. I took the box into my room, and opened it to find a large, heavy, rifle resting on 3 blocks of styrofoam in the box, along with a manual, paper targets, loading tool, 2 allen wrenches, and a small blue box of "6mm BB Bullets," along with the bag of 0.28 Infinity BBs I ordered. I picked up the gun, which was heavy and very long, with a comfortable "orange peel" textured stock. Everything on the gun except the stock (and possibly one or 2 small internal pieces) is metal with a nice shiny black paint on it (which, as I later learned, will scratch, albeit not very easily). I pulled back the bolt, which cycles with a nice "clack" of metal, and it seemed a tiny bit wobbly (although people who have handled real bolt-action rifles tell me it cycles very realistically). The manual, which gives simple illustrated directions on "operating," "disassembly," and "redisassembly" I put the mag back in, and began to go about removing those hideous iron sights and replacing them with my new Tasco 3-9x40mm scope (which I got from redwolf 3 days earlier, along with a G&G striker spring and a King Arms 14mm negative threaded silencer adapter). The iron sights came off easily enough, and I put my scope on, and it looked beautiful. I really like the way this gun looks. Then I put on the King Arms silencer adapter by remoxing 2 phillips head screws from where the front sight once was, sliding out the ugly orange tip, putting in the dark gray steel threaded muzzle, and tightening the screws (I had some problems with the BBs clipping the end of the sliencer due to these screws being too tight, but loosening and using loctite eliminated the problem). After admiring the gun, I decided to take it out and fire it. Firing (this is the fun part Since I can't fire my gun at my house (I live in a residential area), I called my friend Chris and went over to his house to test the gun out, bringing the gun, my KM 245mm Lightweight suppressor, some 0.28s, a can of red gas, and a can of propane. Once at his house, we went down into the canyon nearby (we have permission to play there) to shoot. I loaded up the gun using the loading tool, which is pretty simple and quick (although a little annoying to fumble with the rod and tube) and then loaded some propane. I cycled the bolt, and pulled the trigger, and there was a satisfying crack as a BB ripped out of my barrel and traveled downrange in a flash of plastic. I grinned and tried to cycle the bolt again, but a BB got jammed in the magazine and refused to push forward with the bolt. I had heard of problems with this gun's magazine feed piece being rough and catching BBs, so I knew that this would be easily remedied later, and popped out the BB and cycled the bolt again. This time it loaded, but fired weakly, and the next shot was even weaker... apparently I had run out of gas! I don't know why this happens, but I think my propane may be running low, and it does this in my M9 as well, so I'm sure it's not the gun's fault. So, I loaded up some red gas, which took considerably longer to fill up, and gave MUCH more consistent power and lasted about 2.5-3 mags on one fill. We had brought a coke can with us to test the gun's FPS, so we set it up at about 20 feet, and fired. Amazingly, the BB wen cleanly through both sides of the can, and embedded itself in the dirt behind the can. This gun shoots HARD... dangerously hard. I promised my friend I would never field the gun in its current condition, and that I would either use weaker gas or use the G&G striker spring (or both). After some zeroing of the scope and some adjustments to the hopup (easily accessible dial on the front of the scope mount), this gun was easily shooting 250 feet or more, and I would guess it would be possible to hit a man at 300 feet (in perfect conditions with Maruzen Super-Grandmasters). This gun really impresses me, and it's power is almost scary. I would say the gun shoots at LEAST 600 fps on red gas with the stock striker spring, maybe even 650. Remember, this is a stock gun that costs 200 dollars. Anyway, that night I installed the G&G Striker Spring (this was a BIG pain to install, and involved halfway stripping the head of the spring guide rod, and an even BIGGER pain to remove, which is apparently impossible without unwinding the spring with pliers. Just a tip, once this is on, it WILL stay on until you break it off.) and free-floated the barrel (very easy to do). The free-floated barrel is much less strong and feels dangerously wobbly, and after test firing the gun a few days later, I believe it's not worth it, so I put the aluminum support back in the gun (it may have been a first-batch problem for the m700s). For now, I'm keeping my gun stock internally but using weaker gases to keep it at a safe FPS (green should be about 550 fps and 134 should be about 450). The gun fires great, is accurate (a lot better than my 400 fps AK47 with a prometheus tightbore and 0.23 excels), loud (cracks like a BB gun w/o silencer, sounds like a muffled "thwap" with the silencer), has amazing range, and is insanely powerful. That's Conclusion: All I have to say is, this gun is more than worth $200. This really wasn't the kind of performance I was expecting out of KJW, and especially not out of a gun this cheap. Actually it's price is one of it's biggest problems... I can just see it now: some kid's daddy buys him one at his local Jungletoy, he doesn't know what he's doing, and he shoots his little brother from 10 feet away, embedding a BB a inch into his skin and sending him to the ER... I can really see this gun causing problems when inexperienced users do stupid things with it. Aside from that, if you're looking for a good low-priced sniper rifle and you know what you're getting yourself into, I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this gun. This gun's main competiton (price range-wise) is the Marui VSR-10 G-Spec, which has a range of around 150 feet and shoots 280 fps... the G-Spec may be quieter, more accurate, and better in the long run if you plan to upgrade heavily, but the M700 annihilates the G-Spec in range and power for the same exact price. I considered both guns, but since I already have an AEG and don't plan to upgrade the gun, I chose the M700 and I am very happy with it. If anyone has any questions at all, feel free to ask me and I'll do my best to give a straight answer (although I don't have a chrono so I can't give exact FPS ratings). I know this was a long review, but I hope it has provided you with some useful info and will help you decide if this gun is right for you. --- Patrick M. aka Bloodred EDIT: And now, some photos ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

About how far out can it hold a 1-inch group? What's the average group at about 50 yards?

Great review. Did it come with the silencer adapter? Probably not... how much was the KM silencer and attachment? That would be a definite buy if I ever came around to finally buying this rifle.

I bought it here. It cost me about $200 plus shipping at the time, but now it's cheaper.

On the subject of it shooting "dangerously hard".... It does. Long story short, I handled the gun stupidly and sent a .25 gram bb into my finger at about a range of one inch. The little plastic bb went straight to the bone and stopped.

The little plastic bb went straight to the bone and stopped. that sucks, I told my bro to shoot me in the leg once with my kjw mkII. Big mistake. It went in a ways, broke the skin of course, became elevated about 4 mm or so I'd say off my leg, and the skin peeled off in that area when I went to touch it -------------------- "Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't."

you say you use a King Arms 14mm negative threaded silencer adapter. Do you mean you use a anti-clockwise adapter?

Nice review. I have the same gun and want to add a silncer. I ordered the King Arms 200mm Silncer CCW and the Silncer adapter CCW for the Tanaka M700 which looks like it should fit. Hopefully it does.
What silencer adapter did you use? |

But its the most beautiful thing I've seen in..........days or weeks. I don't know. It really looks good with the silencer. -------------------- Semper Fidelis!!!

Yes, this is indeed a Darn sexy sniper rifle. I read a review, however, though I forget where, that said that you could extract the orange regulator embedded somewhere in the magazine to get higher power and consistency. Has anyone else heard about a similar mod for the KJW M700?

you say you use a King Arms 14mm negative threaded silencer adapter. Do you mean you use a anti-clockwise adapter? I just got my King Arms 14mm negative threaded silencer adpater for the Tanaka M700, but I'm not sure how it fits into the barrel. I removed the two phillips-head screws to the front sight, slid out the orange tip (along with the silver metal piece that the orange part sits on top of), and inserted the adapter, but it seems to be blocked by a grayish piece surrounding the inner barrel. I'm not sure how it fits inside this. Additionally, now I can't seem to screw in the screws to the iron sight. Any help would be appreciated. On a side note, I tested it on HFC 134a, and it shoots pretty far, but I used green gas too, and from about 75 feet, I hit the broad side of my mailbox and it almost penetrated the metal. I was using Straight .36s. All I can say is... -------------------- |

Do you mean you use a anti-clockwise adapter? Anti-clockwise... That's rich. I'm selling my upgraded CA M15A4 Rifle, since I hate spraying all over the place with an AEG, and a guy has offered me his M700, with a spare tanaka mag, a scope, and $200 cash. I've got a tightbore in my M15, as well as a SP120 spring, and systema piston and piston head. I'll do the trade if I know that I'm getting a good sniper rifle. Basically, how far away can you hit a man-sized target from? If it's 150 feet or more (on the first shot), then I'll be happy. if it's 200 feet or more, I'll be thrilled. If it's 250 feet or more, I'll drive up to washington to trade with the guy right now. Nice review. I think you sold me on the gun. (don't worry, I won't shoot anybody from under 100 feet) About the "crack" sound that it makes if it's not suppressed, I think that just adds to the demoralizing factor that a sniper has. Everybody is gonna be waiting to hear that sound. If you're good enough to get a loud shot off, and then reposition without getting hit, then putting a suppressor on there is probably a bad idea (as far as the intimidation factor goes). Trust me, after playing as a rifleman in my team's last game, I know full well how much having a sniper on the other team wears on your nerves. Especially a good one, who knows how to stalk. -------------------- Need a great sig? PM me, or post in the Sig/Avatar/Art request forum!

Hey, I am some what new to Airsoft but not to the general area of the game. I played comptetitive paintball for nine years before I stopped and ended up taking up Airsoft as a hobbie mainly because of price.
I have been playing for about maybe four months and love the game, I play every single weekend. I have a Mauri Mp5 and a KWA G-19. I really enjoy sort of sneaking around and "sniper like area", always have. Basically, I was going to buy this gun from someone at our local field. He has never used it in a game, has three magazines, a bi-pod and is asking $200 for it and I am tempted to buy it. I was wondering how the up keep on it is. I saw some people saying that its alot to keep working. Honestly I do not want a gun where I have to spend about an hour a week cleaning and stuff. I was wondering if you could give me some input. I read your review, I know its from 2005 but I saw you are or were a Mod for the forum and hopefully can give me some decent input on it. I appreciate your time in reading my message Garrett Anderson |

That is one freaky rifle. 650 fps, might aswell get a pellet gun! I am tempted to buy it however, I would have to lower the velocity to about 450 fps to make it less "deadly". Would it be possible for me just to cruise around redwolf and find a "downgrade" for this rifle?
EDIT: *Note: the following text was ment to be a pm for -=BloodRed=-, however I guess his pm is down, and I am too lazy to rewrite the message to work for a public post. QUOTE Hey, I just read your review of the KJW M700, and now I am even more interested in buying it than before. However, in reading your review I found that the velocity is over 500 fps when green gas or propane is used. So I figuredd, "Hey, I'll just downgrade the spring". But as I read on I found that I would have to damage the stock spring in removing it, but you, for a rifle like this, I suppose it's worth it. Then I found the link to where you bought it, however, the rifle doesn't appear to be any on the website (airsoft128.com)! So I was wondering if you new on any trusty sites to purchase this rifle other than there. In the mean time I will look myself of course. Anyway, if I or you find another site, or even on airsoft128.com if my problem is fixed, I would like to know what I would likely need to downgrade the spring so it fires at about 400-450 fps max. Thanks alot!

You can use HFC134a in it to decrease power. You can also rig up CO2 or HPA and just keep the PSI low.

how do you rig up HPA? Buy the necessary parts for an HPa rig first(tank, hose, connectors, etc), then you have to drill a hole in the bottom of the magazine, then tap some threads so you can put the little adaptor piece so you can connect and disconnect the hose. |

Where did you get the silencer and do I need one if I buy this gun.
I am new to airsoft but not to guns.I go hunting a lot and I want a gun that I can target shoot with so I don't have to go to the range. So it would be helpful if you gave me the website and any info I need to know about this gun. Thanks |

I was thinking about getting this rifle but I have some questions first. I know their 2 modles of thig gun, the normal version and the take down version. which one is better? Question number 2 how does the take down part work and is it still solid. I also heard there is a volocity aguster on the gun. Last but not least I heard a big problam with this gun is the typ of amo you use. Does it take 6mm 8mm what brand and weight .25,.28,.30,.34,.38 what exactly would you use. I would like to get a scope that is under $100 and that is ajustable by only using your hands and not have to screw off caps and useing coins or screw drivers to adjust for elavation and windege. Please help and you hade a nice review and it was very helpful.

Hi guys, I know this is an old thread, but I heard horror stories over this rifle. As in it spontaneously stops shooting all of a sudden. Or, the bb just rolls out the barrel, but does not fire correctly. What's up with that?
Also, does red gas cause any damage in this rifle? It is a very strong gas, and it causes problems in almost all other guns. I might get one of these in a trade, and I want to know if it is worth it. Lastly, what version is this? Thanks! |

Hey, I'm new here, but was thinking about getting one of these rifles. I was wondering if you could put some links up as to where you got your silencer adapter and silencer. I've found some adapters, but don't know if they'll work with this gun. Thanks for any help.

I have an important and urgent question: Does the Tanaka long magazine for the M700 series fit in the KJW M700.
I figure it does, but you can never be too sure, thank you so much for any help. EDIT: Nevermind. Cheers, Graham.
