Is it possible to remove the front sight on a G&G Combat Machine M4? If it is not possible, would mounted optics be effected by the front sight?...would it be in the way?

Usually M style front sites can be removed. They require removing two punch pins that are located horizontally under the barrel, along with one grup screw that is located vertically under the barrel. The punch pins are just friction pins so use a tap and hammer. The grub screw is generally an odd sized allen key. You will also need to remove the flash hider so that you can slide the sight off the barrel.

Combat machine front sights are molded on. You would need a new outer barrel if you wanted to get rid of it. Or a power saw.

Okay, so would that be an obstruction to a clear line of sight through a red dot scope?

Depends on how high the red dot is mounted, which depends on the model/style of red dot and also on the mount (if you are using one). For instance, aimpoints with a cantilever should co-witness with the front iron sight, which works pretty well. ACOGs and EOTechs sit pretty high; other styles sit lower, but can of course be used with a riser.
