It would be really awesome if a musket airsoft gun was made. Where ya like pack the bb's in the barrel and shoot it. That'd be so cool. Then I could have revolutionary battles with my friends.

Make one from the action of an airsoft revolver and some home depot parts. Buy a peice of wood and cut it into a cude stock. put a barrel made of PVC on top. At the back of the "barrel" put the action of the revolver so you can ram the bb down the tube, then c-ock the hammer. I dunno if that would work, but that's the kinda thing I like to do.

Digicon makes some interesting target pistols that aren't muskets but retain some of the feel. look around uncompany or redwolf for them. Theyre likely under gas rifles or pistols.

You can use one of the "Grenade Launchers" that usually go on M16's. If you want a longer barrel for accuracy, get the correct size PVC pipe and go to town. You have to pack in the Bb's in the grenade anyway, so it's kinda like a self-loading musket.

My friend made an airsoft musket with a metal pipe and some firecrackers. It actually works really well, we just can't use it because it fires hard enough to go through apples. (We've pierced 3 before) Still awsome, though.

Why not buy a $500 musket (I have a brown bess model) and actualy fire bb's out of it with a reduced charge? I just tyred it in my back yard, and by using about 1/10th of the powder or so I got about equivelent range as my AEG...

it would be fun, but it would have to have some blowback and "powder" effect after the shot... with out thats its like playing revolutionary war with a charging rod and a springer.

Hate to pile on to old topic, but you are near and dear to my heart talking about ancient firearms.
I do a lot of period fencing, (think 3 musketeers, Dumas, not the candy bar!) and fencing really came about due to the firearm coming of age on the battlefield. So, how to recreate a firearm that takes time to load and fires sufficiently well that we can feel it when on the battlefield, without being too hard to hit, and can't use chemical power for projectile... (sound familiar??? Sounds like airsoft to me....) Anyway, this guy I know came up with a rifle that fired a 1" rubber ball. Used surgical tubing for the "spring" power. Had a ram rod that you pushed the ball in with to lock the latch mechanism, and a matchlock looking trigger that stuck into the back of the barrel to catch the aforementioned lock. There were two pieces of surgical tubing that stretched out, and pushed a rod forward to drive the plunger piece that pushed the ball itself. Sounds complicated, but really quite simple. Took about 20 seconds to reload, which was accurate, and would throw a rubber ball about 100 yds pretty well, and fairly accurately. Thought about building one for myself, just haven't taken time. Only a couple of parts that take any kind of tough machining, rest is straight forward enough. Might be a possiblity for the airsoft field to take out and have as a surprise for someone... old farmer with his matchlock popping you with a big projectile. -------------------- -THE Paisley Pirate- <=== Read at your own peril
