Airsoft Innovations Propane Adapter Review
By Dennis Wells - To contact me please view my profile by clicking Here. ![]() The Airsoft Innovoations Propane Adapter is designed to let airsoft users stop buying pricey "Green Gas" which is actually propane with silicone oil for around $15 a bottle and use propane instead. This is great for 3 reasons: 1. Safety - I'd much rather be storing a flammable substance in a heavy duty, certified container instead of those flimsy green gas cans. 2. Price - $2.99 for a bottle of propane is a lot better than around $15 plus shipping for green gas. 3. Convenience - Out of propane? Just drive to the local hardware store and buy some. A lot easier than waiting a week for green gas to come in the mail. Anyways, my adapter arrived about a week after I ordered it from Airsoft Innovations. Not bad considering it was shipped from Canada to my home in the U.S. and shipping was included in the $30 price tag. The box comes with the two adapter parts (only two parts in Revision 2) in a bag, and some great instructions. Real clear, to the point, and Engrish-free. The product appears to be heavy-duty brass. It's heavy, and it doesn't feel like it's going to break anytime in the near future. I wouldn't advise it, but you can probably drop it a few times in the ground without worrying. The integral spring is in there securely, also of good quality and probably not breaking any time soon. Airsoft-Innovations.com is engraved into the top of the adapter. The probe of the adapter is great. It's a very long probe, and makes an excellent seal with my KWC Desert Eagle magazine's fill port. The product is pretty easy to install. It's to be used with a portable propane tank, like the ones used for portable grills and propane torches. Propane tank and pure, 10 weight silicone oil Take off the cap of the propane and screw on the adapter. ![]() Screwing on the adapter Once the adapter is on tightly (don't over tighten it), drop two drops of the thinnest silicone oil you can get (10wt is ideal, but 25 will do fine). This makes up for the fact that Green Gas contains silicone to help lubricate your gun, while propane does not. Putting in two drops of silicone oil After you have added the silicone oil, push in the probe skinny side up into the adapter until it is flush with the base. ![]() Installed Then just fill up your magazines as usual, inverting the mag and tank, pressing down for 4 or 5 seconds depending on the magazine. ![]() Filling up the magazine Now that everything's all set to go, many are wondering, "How well does the propane work?" Just like Green Gas. At first, the gun appeared to be shooting slightly weaker than the normal 380 FPS (no more than 15 FPS less). I think this is because I added a little bit too much silicone oil (kept trying to catch a picture of a drop falling out of the bottle). After a couple more magazine fills, it was back to normal. It appeared to be shooting a little harder than usual now. The gun still easily went through both sides of a Diet Coke can, going some distance after that. It seemed to be traveling slightly farther after leaving the can than with Green Gas. Also, the gun seemed to have a slight harder recoil than the already impressive recoil of the KWC Two-Tone Desert Eagle. Overall, propane is working great. I chambered a few hundred rounds through my gun tonight, with no lock-ups or problems. The BBs flew just as straight and accurate as normal, and maintained the same consistency with green gas. I would've liked to do a bit more comparison with the green gas, but it ran out and I do not plan to waste my money on more of it thanks to the adapter. So, to everyone who uses a GBB or NBB, or a gas rifle that runs off of Green Gas, go to Airsoft Innovations and get one now! Worth every penny and will definetly save you a lot of money in the near future. Final Conclusion: I've fired over 3,000 rounds throgh my KWC Desert Eagle so far using propane. The gun still works great, still has a hard recoil, and still is accurate. Everything still functions, the slide locks, the gun rarely jams, and the slide is not broken or cracked. The adapter is still in great shape, has held up to being dropped several times, the spring is still in there, and the probe is still making a good, tight seal with the base of my magazine. Propane is definetly the way to go for anyone who is currently using green gas. It is no more harmful than green gas to your gun. Provided you use silicone in the propane, and oil the gun, it will last a long time. It is definetly a great way to save money. I'm not really familiar with the new board setup, anyone I can edit my old posts - I want to add my final conclusion.

Excellent guide, DWells! I'll have to try this out when I get a good little GBB - it makes sense, because propane is so much cheaper than green gas...

I have a KJW M9 Full Metal Elite IA GBB Airsoft Pistol and recently got the http://airsoft-innovations.com adapter and am very impressed with it. I have shot over 500 rounds out of the gun using propane and the only major thing that I noticed is that I can get more shots out of a fill with propane than I can with Green Gas. With Green Gas I was getting the full magazine (23 rounds) plus around 7 more shots off before I ran the magazine out of gas, where with propane I have successfully shot 2 full magazines and an average of 5 after that before it runs out of gas. To say the least, I feel safer knowing that it's a much heavier duty container than green gas and the price difference is remarkable. If I run into any problems with running propane through my gun I will definitely post it and let everyone know. As of now, I will enjoy the cheap prices and better performance.

I am having a hard time deciding if I should get a metal or plastic adapter, because plastic adapters are not as durable, but I have heard that metal adapters can destroy your magazine seals and scratch your magazine. please give me some advice I really don't know what I am only going to be in america 4 months before going back to west africa yah I know your thinking its all a big joke but no!!!!! its the truth I leave in 5 days I want to have as much airsoft fun as possible
thanks for any help please I need some -------------------- wish I could afford a pretty g36 with red dot.
