I think this qualifies as an event.

There are alot of people in South Orange County, or at least 15 miles in any direction from Lake Forest, that probably don't want to drive to LA, Riverside, or San Diego to play at a private or sanctioned field. And we definitely want to avoid any conflict with local residents or police, for that matter.

So, the problem is, where to play without causing an issue?

I intend to find a local property owner that's willing to "rent" his land for Airsoft games. I have a plan in mind, but it would be very helpful for those of you that would be in support of a local field to play at without issues, to respond to this post with your HOOAH!, so that I could show it to the property owner.

Your support helps our sport grow. Thanks for your help.

I definitely agree. I'm over in Costa Mesa right now, and am really getting tired of a 50 minute drive to HSP or even two hours to get to Lenix. I know plenty of people itching to play over in the OC. If you happen to scrounge up a field, I'll be there at least once a month. Keep us updated a-thumbsup.gif

People have tried looking for a warehouse or some sort and failed. OC is just not friendly to airsoft. I think even in Irvine is illegal to fire any Bb guns or pellet guns.

Right now your best bet is hang out with an existing airsoft group like Iplayairsoft.com and join their open game. Our team in OC have our private field so it's not open to public access.

BTW, last I heard Hagibuis have located a warehouse somewhere in OC. Maybe they will turn it into a game center. Who knows..

As for HSP, I've heard enough horror stories to avoid that place.

It's really not that shabby. It is in a shifty part of town, so you need to watch your gear. Not really any cheaters, a few elitists, some long stretches w/o a game, an occasional sneer from the paintballers, and the paint mush everywhere. But aside from that and refs who have no idea what airsoft guns even shoot ( I kid you not), it can be enjoyable once in a while.

Paint!! that's a good enough reason not to go there. One of our guy got his brand new CA stolen at HSP. It's just horrable. Right now the only place I'm willing to pay is setup a privat game at ASP. Which we have done it before. Otherwise, we just play in our private field and hidden field in Riverside.

If Glock man able to get a public field open in So. OC then it certainly will get a lot of support from the OC folks. We do really need one that's close by.

Just to let you guys know, HSP is trying to become more "airsoft friendly". Some of the changes that have been made are;
1. No more Refs that don't know airsoft. The airsoft Refs are airsoft players (I'm one)
2. No more long breaks between games. When I ref I do my best to get as many games in as possible.
3. "Lunar Wars" is now open to airsoft, we now play airsoft on all the fields (6 total)
4. Airsoft players now have a say in what fields they want to play on, if a field is being used, we can "reserve" it for the next round.
5. Airsoft players now have a say in what kind of game they play, force on force, VIP, hostage rescue etc. All I ask is that the players get together during the break and work out the details of what they want to play so we don't waste time on the field.
As for the paint on the field I'm working on "field clean up" once a month, unfortunately it is a pintball park also so there isn't much I can do about it. There are more changes in the works but it won't happen overnight.

Someday I'll check out HSP. I just don't like paint all over the place.

I don't blame you, it is a hassle. I usually don't wear my best gear there. The paint comes off pretty easily though with warm water and an old(or my girlfriend's...lol.)toothbrush. But on the plus side, it is an outdoor field that's close by(for me anyway) and we have a pretty good group of guys that play there regularly. For the most part friendly and easy going. And it is the only legal outdoor field in this area, I live in Downey so it's only 10mins. away, and with the price of gas now, I don't mind spending a few minutes cleaning my gear. You could almost buy a new holster for what you would spend for gas driving to the next closest out door field...IMHO.

We're trying to get some land in San Clemente to build a field.

I have heard so many times in the last 4-5 years people say "We are getting a field for airsoft" but so far nothing materialized.

I've actually been to Leon's Long Beach Reball Center. I'm with CG Mercs and we had a private game there and it was lots of fun. The field is very strategic and requires a lot of teamwork.

CG Mercs is compiled of 25 team members and 21 guests, who are all currently active.
check us out, register, and give a quick introduction of yourself at:
www.cgmercs.bamsucka.com

To answer the question of where to play in Southern OC, CG Mercs play in Huntington Beach and if you abide by our field rules there, you can come out with us. Let us know when you'd like to come, NO GUNS IN THE PARKING LOT or IN VIEW OF ANY LOCALS (duh!) AND ALL GUNS ARE TO BE CARRIED DOWN IN GUN BAGS UNTIL THE SAFE ZONE IS REACHED.

As for HSP, I'm collaborating with other team leaders and the owners of HSP, SC Village, and Giant PB Parks for Airsoft Events/Tournaments/Ops. Our next meeting is Oct 21st 2008. So feel free contact me if you would like updates. Our goal is to UNIFY Southern California's Airsoft Community.
Thanks,

Thank you. Seems like you have quite an opinion on things and I don't mean that in a bad way. We all have the right to our own opinion. I'd like to hear more on your opinion on this tournament/Op for future reference in our next meeting. That's if you don't mind. I'm doing what I can to make this work. Even if it starts by hearing out a fellow airsofter.

I do have a lot of opinions. Most of the time I keep it to myself. However, if you really like to hear it, you are welcome to contact me anytime. I'm not that hard to find.
