KWC P226 Review
Back-story: So, I was in Sports Authority, looking for my first airsoft gun. I was browsing the aisles, looking for a pistol that really caught my eye. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw it! The perfect pistol for me, The KWC P226... First Impressions: Well, when I got it home, I had to get the scissors to cut through that hard packaging plastic we all hate to open up. After a few minutes, I finally got to the gun. Being my first airsoft gun, I didn’t have any other gun to compare it with, but it seemed to have a nice good weight in the grip. The finish on the gun is quality, a nice flat black; this gun is very pleasing to the eye. Even holding this gun is a pleasure, it has a nice grip and feels very secure in your hand. Loading the gun: So, after I finished drooling over the aesthetics of the gun, I went outside, and loaded the gun. Well, at first I had a hard time figuring out how to get the B.B.’s in it, but then I finally got out the manual and checked it out. What you have to do is pull down a little spring until it catches at the bottom, and then hold down a little tab at the top to put the B.B’s in. Now, having loaded the gun many times, it is very easy for me to do and only takes a few seconds to load the magazine to its max capacity of 12 B.B.’s. The only problem I have with the magazine is if you press the release button, two to three B.B.’s come out of the gun. Shooting: After I had finally loaded the gun, I set up the nice little sticky target that came with the gun. It was hard to cock the first time, but after time it got easier. Anyway, I cocked it, turned off the safety, and squeezed the trigger. One of the B.B’s came zooming out of the barrel on to the target. I was impressed! It was very accurate, the B.B went right where I had aimed it, and it got there in hurry! Got there going 290 FPS to be exact. Build Quality: This gun is made out of all plastic, except for the inner barrel, this seems to be aluminum. The only rattles that can be heard from this gun is from the magazine, this wobbles a fair bit, but the rest of the gun is sturdy, no creaks on this gun. I wouldn’t be too rough with it though, as with any gun, you should take care of it and make sure not to drop it, as I think if you were to drop it the gun would break into a million smithereens. Okay…the part you’ve all been waiting for….Pros and Cons!! Pros: Pretty hard shooter Accurate Looks nice Feels very nicely in your hand Cons: Magazine wobbles When magazine release is pressed a few B.B.’s come out of the gun. Closing thoughts: I am glad I purchased this gun. It is a great beginner gun, as well as something great to plink around with for more experienced players. I would recommend this gun in a heartbeat to anyone in the market for a cost effective springer pistol. © Copyright 2006 Luke Madigan -------------------- Kwc P226 | DE M4 | Crossman Holster |

I got the same gun at big 5, but my magazine doesnt wobble, but unfortunately, 2 bbs come out if you release the mag before emptyin the clip. this gun is good for begginers, or someone needing a good reliable sidearm. I've dropped the gun and clip a few times, and they haven't broken or chipped at all.

I have dropped the magazines before, the haven't broken, but I haven't dropped the gun, so I couldn't tell you about that.
It does seem like a sturdy weapon though. -------------------- Kwc P226 | DE M4 | Crossman Holster |

I loved this gun. I miss mine. The part that holds the clip in broke. It pissed me off. But yes it is a very nice beginners gun and the look was lovely. So compact and easy to carry around. Plus if you go to Big 5 you can buy I believe two clips for $10. Only thing is that I disagree with you on is the FPS. I don't believe it was 290 otherwise my m4 would be about 340 which it is definitely not. I had that gun and it at least went 40 - 50 fps less then my m4. But that is just me. Otherwise good review I loved this gun and would like to get it again. I just don't feel like going to Sports Authority where the guns are about 30 - 40 bucks more then other places.

I know this is kinda necroposting (but it's still on the front page), but I wanted to share my experiences with this gun. This gun has been very good to me over the past 2 years. It is quite accurate and powerful (hurts quite a bit at short range). I've had it for 2 years and many bits have broken off it, such as on the bottom of the slide, the rearmost centimeter or so has broken on either side, this was the first bit to break off. Then the bit opposite the mag release fell off and I lost it, but I replaced it (It only fell off because I had taken the gun apart and one of the screws would not go back in, so that bit was loose). Finally, the button on the magazine that unlocks the part you pull down broke, so it's very hard to load (you need to get something small, like a pen, and nudge the spring to unlock it). So now it is not very good for springer wars, but is still my favorite spring pistol of all time. I <3 the KWC P226, only when I first got it I did not like the clear plastic look, but now I love it since I can see how much ammo I have left without dropping the mag (which wastes 2 bbs and makes noise, bad for being stealthy)

I've owned 5 airsoft guns in my life so far, and as far as all 3 of my pistols go, this is the best. It even tops my SMG.
Pros: I can knock over a soda can from 20 yards 2nd highest FPS that I have (the other is my rifle) Ejects the magazine when released instead of gravity drop No Trigger Hair, easy to pull the trigger in a smooth motion (minimal shaking when you pull the trigger) Con: If the magazine isn't empty when you release, it ejects the next 2 BB's Compared to my other pistols (Daisy Airstrike 240; Crosman Stinger P36), the P226 wins hands down. The Daisy Airstrike 240 has good FPS (240) but has accuracy that could have been better, and is good only up to 15 yards. The P36 has a range of about 25 yards, but the WORST accuracy I've seen on an airsoft pistol. The only reason it has a higher range is because of the large amount of Hop-up on the BB. The P226, I don't have to tilt the gun upwards to hit the target like the Airstrike 240, and I don't have to tilt it down like the Stinger P36 to hit the mark. This is my best pistol because what you see down the sight is what you get. It might be off by 1-2 inches at 20 yards, but that's about it. Can't wait to actually test this out with some friends! I recommend this pistol to anybody looking for a beginner gun or looking for a very reliable sidearm. Help! If anybody knows how to modify this weapon, please inform me. I've wanted to keep this gun in good shape, and like all guns do, I don't want it to lose it's FPS, so I'd like to stretch out the spring. I've always been afraid of modifying my pistols because I'm afraid to damage them, and this one looks like it's almost impossible to modify the spring. Help? I recommend this pistol to anybody looking for a beginner gun or looking for a very reliable sidearm. And I wouldn't. No hop-up, made of cheap shiny plastic, cylinder cracked so now it only shoots 10 feet. You are only impressed because you are comparing it to pistols that are even worse. The KWC Colt Delta Elite is $5 more, has a decent hop-up that gives it twice the range of the P226, and spare mags are easily available. Heck, I'd take my P230 springer over this thing, and the P230 only chronoed at 130 FPS with .2s. Help! If anybody knows how to modify this weapon, please inform me. I've always been afraid of modifying my pistols because I'm afraid to damage them, and this one looks like it's almost impossible to modify the spring. Help? Don't bother. The cylinder cracked on mine when it was stock, streching the spring will only speed that up. The best upgrade is a new gun. I enjoy that it has little to no hop-up, why? Because it's my only pistol so far that fires in a straight line for up to 20 yards, and is accurate withing 1-2 inches as I already mentioned at that range. My other pistols have 0% Hop-up and what seems like 40% hop-up, and this has a nice medium of about 15-20%. For my pistol with 0% hop-up, I have to angle the gun upward quite a bit in order to hit my mark, which in this case is a soda can. I have to angle it up by 20 degrees in order to get anywhere close to the level the soda can is. The pistol with 40% hop-up, I have to angle it down by 30 degrees in order to get somewhat close to the soda can, and even then I still have to take into account that it fires 10 degrees to the left, which has been there since the first time I used the gun, brand new from the store. I prefer to look down the sight and hit what's there than have to figure angles. Another thing, I take extreme care of my guns. I only have one broken gun, and not even that, the battery needs replacing because of faulty wires. If another gun is the only upgrade I can get, then so be it. I enjoy airsoft, but the only thing is, I only but my guns once and a while. I've been playing for 3 years, and over that time I've only made 4 purchases of airsoft guns, but 5 guns altogether. Besides, if the cylinder cracks on mine, too, I have plans. |

I don't suggest spring pistols at all.
There are better spring shotguns and rifles for the same price, and not much more. http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=24320 http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=29229 http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=24298 |

Besides, if the cylinder cracks on mine, too, I have plans. My KWC Colt Delta Elite could hit someone at 40 yards, and my TM USP and MK23 at 50 yards, maybe more. And they would also have no problem tagging a soda can at the same distance as the P226. Lets see this no hop-up piece of crap do that. I agree with RunnerGunner that a shotgun would also be a better choice. -------------------- |
