So I've been looking around for a sniper rifle for awhile and ran across the KJW Mk2. My initial impressions of the gun were that it looked nice and that it ran on gas. Both are pluses as I kind of have a huge crush on gas guns right now. However, I was wondering if anyone on the forum has had experience with the gun and could let me know if it is worth purchasing? Since I've heard a lot of mixed reviews concerning the Mk2. Some people have said it's only good for plinking and the occasional potshot while others tell me it's incredibly accurate and they wished they had one. Thoughts, ASF?

others tell me it's incredibly accurate and they wished they had one. Nope. Not worth it anymore. Poor accuracy, fixed hopup (I believe), long/hard (no comments :p) trigger pull, and crazy high FPS. Not a sniper rifle. More like...A pistol on steroids and Viagra. If you really want it, there was a post on ASR [quite] a while back which described making the gun usable. Mostly using parts which are now unavailable. If you don't want to do the research, just don't buy it. You'll be disappointed. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find a reliable/consistent gas airsoft sniper rifle. You may want to look into spring sniper rifles. They'll let you test the "waters" of sniping. |

Fun plinker and you can't beat the price (hop up is adjustable, however not very good consistency). But to understand how horrible the trigger pull is on one of those, tie a piece of string to your index finger and a cinder block. Lift the cinder block off the ground with finger pressure alone, that's what it feels like.

....do you all have slender girly fingers? /arnold voice. But seriously, the triggef pull isn't that bad. Not even bad enough to warrant the exaggeration renegadecow came up with.

Ok, so I exaggerated. You want exact figures then? I've taken measurements of trigger pulls of the following guns I have for comparison:
Marui Detonics - 2lbs Marui FN5.7 - 2lbs KWC Python - single action 2lbs/ double action 7lbs Tanaka S&W .500 - single action 1.5lbs/ double action 5lbs KJW MkII - 11lbs and that's with the trigger bar and hammer already polished and lubed for smoothness. I remember measuring it before the trigger job and it was something around 13-14lbs. Bottom line, the MkII has a horrible trigger and unsuitable for precision work. I've seen people who have tried it for sniping work though but unless you hold the rifle well down with the supporting hand and clench both butt cheeks you're gonna have a hard time hitting something past 50 yards. -------------------- You wanna die with a man's gun. I don't suppose anyone knows of any small carbines that I could use for a DMR/sniper set up then? As I was planning on using the MKII, but by the sounds of it that trigger pull sounds horrendous.

HFC M712 carbine if you were thinking on the cheap side. It's also a double action NBB so trigger pull is horrible, but at least you have the option of cocking the gun manually which lightens it significantly.
Also the KJW 10/22 GBB. Top scores on everything and still smaller than usual carbines. Also significantly more expensive but still cheaper than most any other GBB rifle. Other than those there's always the prospect of making a sniping handgun (Tanaka S&W .500, Marui Mk23 SOCOM, Marushin Super Blackhawk etc.) -------------------- You wanna die with a man's gun.
