Alright, well, I have not seen to many TM MK23 threads, and I know that a lot of people own them. It starts here, this is the thread. I'd like to use this thread to gather information about the TM MK23, avail upgrades, and troubleshooting.

I"ll start with upgrades that I know of.

PDI/KM Tightbore barrels, 6.01 and 6.04
Hi flow valves
Hop up buckings from Firefly, Laylax (nineball) and KA
KM Stainless Steel Enhanced Recoil Guide Rod (just found and picked one up!)

That is all I know of right now. Other than that, the TM MK23 is compatible with KJW/Y&P/STTI magazine, making those magazines useful for green gas.

Anyone changed the inner barrel or hop up bucking on one of these before? Taken the nbb mech out? Taken the hammer out?

What other upgrades has anyone turned up for this gun? And do you think that it is possible to get a metal slide CNC'ed?

What holsters have you found for the TM MK23? Silencers?

Let the thread begin.

Well one nice modification is the TM Pro-Silencer Shorty. buy one. then swap the MK23 adapter and VOILA shorty silencer for the MK23. No its not just for looks, the gun will be JUST as quiet as the stock silencer. Also you can use the P90TR silencer. so you don't have to use the stupid BLING gloss silencer

You also forgot about the Wolf Industries M97 LAM unit.

(this is my KSC Hard Kick but close enough)

I'd really like to know if it could handle greengas/propane in its stock form. Anybody wanna hook me up with that info?
And if it can't, what upgrades would be needed to get it to that point?

well speaking from my experience. I have only used green gas since I first bought my MK23. this was a year or two after the MK23 came out. I heard the early ones couldnt handle green gas. If you get the KO clone mags, then you should be ok

Thanks. I have a few more questions for my own curiosity, but I'm sure they will contribute themselves to the thread.

1. Where would be a good place to buy the gun/mags? Domestic is always eaiser but overseas would be fine also.

2. What kind of performance is average for one of these right out of the box? (Fps, Accuracy, Range)

3. Where would be a good place to buy a third party LAM? And which brand(s) are reccomended?

4. What brand/model holster(s) will fit it with and without the LAM and suppressor?

you will need a LARGE holster. I have the Replica MK23 holster. sadly it does not fit with teh LAM unit. If you have a lam unit and you want to holster it, the closest thing would be a holster for a MP7.

right now there arent any lam units. Besides the TM and M97 (but M97 is out of production). there are alternatives. go find a MK23 rail adapter so you have a weaver rail on your MK23. then you can get the Lasermax laser.

http://www.lasermax.com/product.php?id=104

then get any pistol light you want and put it on there. OR you can spend money and get a good laser/light combo. but you are still looking at around 200-300 dollars. there are some cheaper ones but they are crappy.

Not enhanced recoil springs, but reinforced and better quality recoil spring guide rods.

Good information Solscud.

I was looking around at arnies, and some guys said they put a laser in their lam unit. they took the red led out and dremeled the laser down to fit in. Then they used a surefire bulb with the lam unit also. (pretty cool I think.)

I know KA makes a 16mm, Socom silencer that fits the KSC and TM Mk23's, I'm looking to pick one up soon. People say it is as quiet as the original mk23 silencer.

There is also a .45 cal holster on ehobbyasia that is said to be designed for the mk23, it has 3 mag pouches on it. I'm going to buy one soon here.

Airsplat is a great place to get the STTI/Y&P magazines, they are only 19.00 each! (great price)

Solscud, any information on where a KM TN 6.04 extended barrel for the TM MK23 would be in stock at? they seem to be out even over seas. I think it is 200mm or something, I may want to pick one up for the future. I'm going to get a PDI 6.01 soon from Airsoftatlanta though, it is only 38.00. And shipping is much much cheaper then getting it from X-Fire.org, since x-fire is in Japan.

Good info, keep it coming.

don't believe what you see online. when I was in HK in march I visited something like 25 airsoft stores in a square block. the big ones that we know like Dentrinity and UN Company do not have everything on their online store. its like 10%

No I don't know where you could get the barrel., why not get Dees to custom make one?

Oh yeah for those who don't know VSR-10 hopups work for MK23. or any GBB by TM. I have the firefly for my Bar-10. I havent tried it in the MK23 but it is a great hopup.

There is a recoil spring guide with a strike plate (you know those meat tenderizer things) for the MK23 NBB.

The holster that I have for my TM MK23 is made by Milspex. It can hold the MK23 with the LAM on it very well. It also has 2 mag pouches on the side of the holster, and the front of the holster has a pouch for the silencer. I don't know exactly where to find them for the cheapest, but I know for sure that RedwolfAirsoft.com has them.

On my TM MK23, the original owner had to put a bigger O-ring inside the mag so that it would be able to hold Green gas better. If I remember right, he said it leaked slowly without any modifications to it, so that's why he put a new (bigger) O-ring in it.

I'll try to take some pics of it and with all my stuff (MK23, silencer, mags) in it so you can see the size of it. They need to think of a better design for putting the silencer in it though, because it easily falls out. I have yet to figure out a good way of doing it... Here is a link for a Milspex holster so you can at least get an idea of it for now until I can get the pics. Milspex MK23 Holster

I have an older STTI Mk 23, and it is virtually identical to the TM (except the trades and the aluminum inner barrel...)

The mags are indeed interchangable, everything else is swappable to the TM... fyi if you ever need parts (granted, they are cheaper quality, but mine's held up for at least a couple of years with the only indication of wear being a chip in the slide that was there from about the first week of ownership)

I carry my gun and extra mags in an Infinity Tactical shoulder holster. I like it because it is swappable left/right (I shoot leftie), and the mags are under the on hand, so that when you need them, they are easily pulled out by the off hand.

Nice gun, and easy to work on.

Hey guys I own a Tokyo Marui MK.23. However, mine is shooting 440 FPS!! I took a Dee's custom barrel (509MM, universally cut so I can use it with any hopup system). Then I measured out to about 3/4'ths of the silencer (That way I would still be able to have the cool silencing function) and dremmeled the barrel down to there. Upon putting the tightbore back in the gun I ran into a problem. a-censored.gif The tightbore barrel was to wide to fit back into the outer barrel (the place where the silencer attaches, the stock barrel ends right at this). So I carefully filled down the inside of the outer barrel to accept the new extended barrel. Upon doing that I fit everything back together and went out to shoot it. I must have got another 75 feet more of range by just using that barrel and I could really tell the FPS and accuracy went sky rocketing. I took it to Nashville Airsoft to get it chronoed and man; everyone was astounded at how hard the gun was shooting, how nice it looked and how long that barrel was!

I don't doubt that you could get a custom metal slide machined for you (I actually plan on getting one...eventually) The hardest part would be moving the internals from the original slide over to the new one. I also am 99% I will order a firefly soft bucking for my MK.23 sometime this week just so that I can make the accuracy even better. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

It sounds like that thing is awesome, and its beast factor is still rising.

Was the barrel the only upgrade you put in it? If so how are you getting 440fps on a guns thats shooting ~300fps stock?

When I had my TM Mk23, it was completly stock and I was getting 360 fps, so the 440 with only a TB is very feasable. I think I am going to have to get another one, I miss my baby.

I in fact have a PDI 6.01 tightbore made for the MK23 coming in, and I plan on getting KA 16mm Socom silencer also made for the TM and KSC mk23s. I got a KJW with the one I bought. Got the gun for 80 shipped though. (great deal) I am going to try a KA Bucking when I get the silencer soon, Snipershot said it's supposed to be better then the nineball or firefly. If not, I'll get a nineball after that one. I'm shooting about 380 on propane at 82 degrees, so I think I'll get up there real quick. 440 is... a LOT for a pistol. I'm looking into getting some hi-flow valves for mine soon too!

Yes Im pretty sure it is....

Just ordered my MK 23 from Dentrinity, and I also ordered 3 more STTI mags from airsplat because they are dirt cheap over there.

Also I heard those mags work better with GG/Propane, simply because they were made for it while TM mags were not... Also they cost 40% of the TM mags price....

Were els can buy the mags at? for some reason the pages are't loading on Dentrinity.

Very interesting. Any place in the US that carries those KA buckings, if so could you link me to it? Tell me how the PDI tightbore does and how much FPS you gain. Anyone know any good high flows for the MK?

Cant link you, but Ehobbyasia has them for 11.40 shipped or around that price, way way cheaper then nineball and firefly. I will tell you how it preforms, when I get it in and it works good. Good hi flow valves for the mk23 I've found are some from KM and Firefly, I can only find firefly's overseas, so I may have to pick some up from UNcompany when I order. Long Range Killer, you can buy the mags at airsplat, they are the cheapest there, only 19.00 each. That is the cheapest I've found.

I'll update with some valves and other parts.

STTI is that the same as the Y&P?

I know that dirtygreek said he thought it was, but I am not so sure. I don't know for a fact (either way).

I have a couple of other Y&P guns (but not a Mk23), and the build quality of this is a lot better than those. The only part that I think is cheesy on it is the slide outer cover itself (it just feels, ...thin... compared to the TM) but it's been a pretty rugged pistol.

FYI, JungleToy had this gun about 2 or 3 years ago as the Stealth Assassin, and they sold it with the silencer that has a springloaded barrel extender in it (and yes, it works conical cut barrel and silencer allows it to self center... neat easy system)

All I know is, that except for the trades, it looks identical to the TM (having had both side by side and field stripped) and it's got pretty good build quality (but not tm quality)

The STTI mags are pretty darn good, just remember that, if you have a feed issue, to polish the bb area, esp where the mag transitions from metal to plastic near the top.

Again, I haven't had a Y&P Mk23 to compare it, so I can't speak to that.

OH, and my gun chrono's at 390fps w/ .20's on green w/o the silencer. It jumps to 440 fps with the barrel extension silencer.

I feed it .25's and r134, which they fly at 340-350.

That's great Paisley. good chrono readings. You think it is possible that they will make metal or aluminum magazine lips for the mags? I want to see how much they would be custom machined.

Hey, installed that recoil spring guide by KM today, since it came, along with parts for my Glock 17. I like the Recoil guide, I'd recommend people buy one if they are looking for the last upgrade they can do. Very solid, and it attracts to magnets (means it's metal, not aluminum like the stock one) It's easy to install, if you need directions just pm me or post here. I'll make a hop up changing guide when I get my PDI and bucking. I don't like the hop up system... it does not really do much... but w/e. I'll keep you posted about my barrel soon. ( that is when it gets here...)

So as far as the mags for GG/propane, which brand would be best? STTI or Y&P?

Heres a link to the Y&P mag at airsplat. Look at the manufacturer, "STTI / Y&P", airsplat seems to think they are one and the same.
http://www.airsplat.com/Itemdesc.asp?ic=GP...amp;eq=&Tp=

Edit: Nevermind...I just realised they list TM and WE as one manufacturer...

To my knowledge STTI and Y&P are the same man. I got the 19.00 ones, they work really well.

That would work if you drew the trades out on a piece of cereal box, and then cut them out with an Xacto knife to make them perfect. you'd have to cover the whole gun up except for the part you are sparpainting, I'd take the slide off and take the barrel assembly out.

I don't think it would be too hard, just a lot of time to do the cut work on the stencil. I would go to the art store and get some stencil mylar (with mild sticky on back) to make it easier.

It would not be a hard thing to do, as the bosses etc where the stuff would go is all there...

AFA the replacement mag parts, I don't know of anyone making them right now, but I am planning on going into the metal shop sometime soon (to build a metal slide for my Hi-Power) and I'll pop one of my mags apart and have the real machinist take a look at it and see what it would take to knock a few out...

I'll keep you posted on the experiment.

Because, yeah, those tabs are somewhat weak. Just like a bunch of other guns...

That a great Idea! the sticky paper would keep it from moving around while I'm spraying.

Yes, I was thinking it would be around 100.00 to have 4 of them made... but I'm not sure. If they are cheap or you can get a bulk order, hook me up. get like 50 of them made and you can sell them. Can you check on the slides too?
