My Short Guide to Stealth

Stealth is pretty simple. The golden rule to stealth is 'stay low and slow'.

The human eye is instinctively trained to seek movement.

Also, the human body acquires about 90% of its surroundings through the eye. Thus, any type of moving can give

your position away. In night games, vision is severely limited.

So your hearing should play a major role at night.

So in conclusion, if you see or hear anything, do not panic.

Slowly find some dark cover and get to the lowest position possible until the threat is gone.

If you're able to apply these simple tasks then your chances of being exposed are greatly decreased.

Simple Tips

  • Move slow
  • Use your hearing
  • When in doubt Stay Calm

I would also add: practice sound and light disipline too. you want to be quiet (obviously) so don't go stomping around on sticks and twigs or other items that will give away your position or draw attention to yourself. If you're moving at night, you want to make sure to not wear reflective clothing or have shinny objects on your person that will reflect any light back to the enemy.

Additionally, you don't want to use anythink but red or green for flashlight colors. white light at night is much more visable by the enemy than a red or green filter over your flashlight.

Oh and I nearly forgot: blend in. you need to wear appropriate cammo to conceal your self and your gear.

This is a very general article on stealth, but it is only a paragraph. I think when you say "stay calm" you really should be talking about noise, light, and fire discipline. The biggest problems I've had stealth-wise are when a less experienced player not only becomes frightened, but begins firing on a basically insurmountable force. It is important to stress with learning players that one must analyze each threat and carefully choose his actions before breaking cover. Overall, though, this was a good summary of stealth. Good job.
