Full Version: Blowback vs. Non-Blowback AEG
Airsoft Forum > AirSoft Replicas, Tech Talk and Advice > AEG (Automatic Electric Guns) Rifles & SMGs
I am a player that can't decide If an AEG Blowback is worth getting.
Should I get a blowback aeg or should I get a regular non-blowback aeg?
You should try it out first.
EBB blowback is quite unsatisying compared to GBB blowback.

Its a cool feature though. Are we talking G&G's?
As already said, its a nice thing, but thats it. Its basically just a moving bolt unless its one of the new marui guns. I own a blowback g&g mp5, and while its blowback is nice, its actually a hinderance because it actually makes the gun a bit louder with the metal bolt going back and forth...thats my take though
Unnecessary proprietary parts that can break.
that too.
theres more to break.

I don't buy EBB's, and I don't plan too.
6mm man
You can always disable the ebb. If I had a choice, I'd buy a gun without ebb. But if my only choice was an ebb, I wouldn't mind.
And here is where I chime in with the complete opposite in mind.

ElectricBlowBack, not so nice.
GasBlowBack, very nice
PneumaticBlowBack, middle child between the two

I like the Blowback feature on some gun models. I like the loudness that the metal bolt makes, it adds to the *fun* factor of the game. I love gas blowbacks but man are they expensive.

Since I had time to play with G&G's pneumatic blowback guns, I'm happy that it satisfies the cheapness of EBB with the coolness of GBB. G&G aegs that have the pneumaticblowback have only a slight kick due to the spring that it uses is so stiff that it takes a LOT of air to push it back. I found that if you lubricate the crap out of the little piston and weaken the spring (take a bench clamp and put the spring in it and close the clamp on the spring over and over again until you can easily bend it together with your fingers) it will make the bolt fly all the way back and that coupled with a 9.6v battery, will give a impressive kick that will make your shoulder sore after an hour.....

Yes theres more parts to break but honestly, I don't see how anyone would break a pneumatic system.......

Gas needs more maintence and a lot more money so I can't so too much about them.

Ebb I really don't like at all. All you hear is more electric gear grinding and it's not a pleasent sound.
I had the CYMA cm.049 EBB, and an Escort GBB MP5, and a KWC C02 mini Uzi. In my opinion GBB is horrible. The gas in mag designs have horrendous cool down unless you fire off one shot per minute, and the external gas set ups are clumsy, hard to find, expensive, and don't have the same performance of an AEG, I.e. range and accuracy. The EBB does not have the same recoil of a GBB, but the range and accuracy will be on par with an AEG. Upgrades are available depending on the brand. The TM line of recoil guns seems to be the exception. You don't have to spend money on proprietary magazines with an EBB (except TM). Everyone complains that the EBB systems are less reliable. This may be the case, but by comparison they are much less of a hassle than GBB rifles in my opinion. Furthermore they can be fixed just like any other AEG should something break. The EBB is the way to go in my opinion if you want a unique AEG. The sound of the blow back on my CYMA was much better than I thought it would be. Videos just don't capture the effect. I would suggest trying to find one you can check out first hand before buying. Good luck.
