A few things to cover that I have found from real life and airsoft that translate over.
1. Ammo is cheap, buddies aren't. If I see a target and I have a decent amount of ammo I will shoot repeatedly even if I have a 'sure shot'. Better safe than sorry. Of course, in airsoft I won't be shooting people in the mouth as I run by them :D
2. Cut the pie! You stand a MUCH better chance of not getting hosed if you stand a distance back from the wall and make a circular arc. This reveals terrain slowly and presents a minimal target. By getting right on a corver and peeking around you have to search ALL terrain immediately or risk getting shot while presenting a much larger target. Try it with a friend to test it if you don't believe me. It is the difference between going home and getting a flag handed to your mom.
3. Semi is for close (I.e. near point blank) shots. I only use it when we play CQB and I have to get a 'close kill' that won't surrender. It's not less accurate but again, ammo downrange is like insurance, you can never have enough. And as for trigger pull with triggers so light on airsoft guns if you're jerking the trigger you have no excuse. A good exercise we use in the service is to lay in the prone and sight your weapon. Have a buddy place a dime or washer on top of your barrel, and you pull the trigger. If the dime falls off you are jerking the trigger. Practice, practice, practice. You would be sprprised how much a slight difference in trajectory at themuzzle translates to missed targets downrange. I forget the exact formula but in Basic they said that if you move a rifle muzzle 1/4 inch at the line, your impact point moves five feet downrange. Do the trig if you have a hardon for it but the point stands, aim small hit small.
4. Teamwork will beat the best lone wolf players every time. USMC studies have proven that two men working in tandem have the combat effectiveness of five individuals. By working together, communicating and safely engaging targets in your lanes you will see a marked increase in kills and a lessening of friendly casualties.
5. Be behind cover. If you're not, you **** well better be heading towards it. And someone better be covering your censored2.gif while you're at it, wether he's firing (if you are presently engaged) or scanning ready to fire if no enemy has been contacted.

This was split off from the thread little hints in cqb or any combat condition because I believed Jballou's post deserved its own thread.
Silent But Violent
lol according to the SAS and my two SEAL friends semi auto is for long range shooting, and aftere looking it up old USMC manuals say the same thing, keeping in mind that airsoft is another realm of Combat, I stilll find semi more accurate then full auto(though it might just be my sig551).I dunno I think we come from two very diffrent schools, im my world preserving ammo and out maneuvering and not outgunning is more effective in the long run.course in are games are team is sevearly out gunned usualy, not to mention are "play" area is huge and we set an ambush usualy.knowing from experiances with marines as well I know that throwing alot of lead is advised, but the us gov. pays for those rounds I pay for my bb's....it just does not make sense to me...diffrent teachings I guess.although it sound like your Tactics work, and alot of this (#2) is balls to the wall honest truths. good post.

Seeing as BP decided to pare this off from the other thread I will update this more tomorrow.

WOW! A lot of good info posted while I was away I see! jballou excellent post.
You might as well add team movements and individual lane assignements in your next post as well!

Great stuff!

Got a lot to say, not enough time to type it all :)
jakor13
nice post but you should use semi at long range

Nice forum. However, I disagree with
shoot when you see something
sospicouse and I don't think
the saying "better safe than sorry"
aplies to airsoft because when you shoot
you'll givee yourself away. This will result
in a tight position or getting killed.

Necropost.
And this is a thread, not a forum. :)

nice post but full-auto is much better at close range because you don't have to be too accurate and rof helps. at longer range you are less likely to hit so why be less accurate and waste more ammo?
