Hello--

I'm having difficulties choosing the right 1911 GBB for myself. I'm not too picky about trademarks, but I want it to be full metal, reliable, and gas-efficient. Lastly, I would like to have it accessible to aftermarket parts, such as slides, loading nozzles, etc. Here are my options:

1) WE M1911A1 Full Metal GBB Pistol with Extra Magazine: $98

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/we-m1911a1-full...a-magazine.html

2) KWC M1911 BlowBack CO2 Version (Full Metal): $108

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/kwc-m1911-blowb...full-metal.html

3) KWA M1911 MKIII PTP GBB Pistol (2 Magazines): $170

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/kwa-m1911-mkiii...-magazines.html

4) Western Arms SCW3 Colt MKIV Series 70 GBB Pistol (Carbon Black): $173

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/western-arms-sc...rbon-black.html

5) Tokyo Marui M1911A1 Colt Government GBB Pistol: $166

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/tokyo-marui-m19...gbb-pistol.html

Please give a reason or two WHY you would choose that 1911 GBB over the other brands. Also, if there are any essential mods/upgrades that should be done to the GBB, please say which. Thanks so much.

I think if you type "best 1911" into the website's search function, Airsoft Forum would crash from the sheer number of identical questions.

The way you worded your question makes the answer a bit of a toss up. WA and TM will be the best performing, hands down. They are also the most upgradeable airsoft pistols in existence, bar none. However, they are both plastic. (Still look and feel great). The KWA is probably your best option, its metal, performs decently, but is almost absolutely unupgradeable. If something breaks you can get factory extras from kwausa.com, but there's really no aftermarket support for parts. KWC and WE you can just scratch off your list, they're barely acceptable compared to the other options. I can't really speak about KWC, but WE's are neither reliable nor gas efficient.

All of the other "Best 1911 GBB" threads were antiquated, so I decided to get fresh, personalized information. And it seems the WA 1911's are harder to find, so I'm more inclined to go for the Tokyo Marui 1911. Are there any necessary mods/upgrades for the Marui 1911? Also, what metal slide would you recommend for it? Thanks.

TM 1911s aren't antiquated, but they haven't changed any since they came out. The old advice is all still applicable, I suggest you read as much about it as you can.

With metal slides I would just say pick your poison, they're well built for the most part, with guarder taking the low end, but guarder is still a nice looking metal body. Normally I would say don't upgrade a stock TM 1911 at all, but the metal slide will affect your gas efficiency and blowback speed. I'd probably get a better cylinder head and hi flow valves for your mags, but then you won't get as many shots off per mag as you would with the stock TM. So there's pros and cons to everything when you're upgrading.

How much are you looking to spend on this project, in total? (include up to a year from now)

I'm willing to spend $200 for the GBB and ~$300 on upgrades (however, if I can spend less, that would be nice too.)

I'd go for TM, parts and such are easier to find for them. The upgrades you get depend on how you want the gun to perform.

TM GBB's are second to none. I just got a TM MEU couple months ago and I'm not looking back. It is single handedly the best pistol I've used aside from my TM P226 and TM Hi-capa. I would highly recommend TM, especially the MEU.

OK, thanks! How does this GBB sound for the money? http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/WTTF-Glo...6#entry18540066

Kinda old, but I mean for the money, yes it is a good deal. Looks like a good gun with lots of upgrades. Just make sure you feel good with the dealer, its easy to get a lemon GBB (I've had 2) so just be careful!

Alright, I had the ASF member send me a video, and it seems to fully functional. However, I won't know if it's a lemon until I have it for a little while :/ but thanks.

Go TM... go safe. Nothing beats TM.
