| Important Announcement: COMING SOON: Fully licensed Airsoft Guns with trademarks and logos intact! I hope to have the ASF store back online this weekend. I am editing items and inventory today. Additionally, I have added a "Customer Service" phone number for all member problems for immediate website support!! The number is live and functional, I will be announcing it shortly - no more waiting for PMs or email responses for member problems :-) |
"Which Gun Should I get" questions and voting polls are now allowed as long as you have searched the forums and discussion board to make sure that you are not asking the same question that has been asked over and over otherwise you're gonna look silly and probably get flamed for it.

I'm curious as to how many people in the airsofting community use real non-replica military optics (I.E. Eotech, Aimpoint, and Trijicon) on their airsoft replicas as well as the number of replica military optics out there.
Please answer truthfully. This post has been edited by Suzaku: Feb 9 2010, 10:42 PM -------------------- ![]() When in deadly danger, when beset by doubt, run in little circles, wave your arms and shout! FS: Updated Active Braking Mosfets, MP7 stuff, Multicam, Gas Inlet Valve O-rings, and more. |

What defines a "real" combat optic? Most optics are optics, and most are real. There are a few Eotech and Trillicon "replicas" I have a Leapers 4x CQB on my XM8 and a Simmons Pro50 on my MK96 Are those "real" enough for you? -------------------- My Ghillie My Guns/Gear My 'Vette Modular XM8 Under Constructon: The Snipers Guide to the Galaxy ![]() Dude, those would so be awesome in an auto xB...I think scissor doors would make the car 500HP, but if he got suicide scissor doors...oh my...bugatti Veyron power... |

Those scopes you listed are designed for hunting, not for the military. Also, the poll is only limited to the 3 most common makes, Mars, Elcan, etc. will have to sit out on this poll. I should redefine the poll as military optics, not combat. If you're wondering about the blunt wording of the poll it is to avoid confusion. I like the "multi reticle" style optics. I use a replica one, but I still think it should be included. It's the type you see in CoD4, for the lack of a better description.

I own a TRUglo one that I use for real steel and airsoft, only cost me $60. On topic of this poll, My dad owns a Trijicon TA31 F-G for Real Steel Only, Trijicon TA33G-H for Real Steel, and an EOtech 551 for airsoft and real-steel use, I own a B-2 Aimpoint replica for airsoft, a TRUGLO reflex sight that I use for real steel and airsoft, and have recently sent in for repair a Trijicon reflex RX01 that I bought for $110 used in a non-working condition, I plan to use it for both real steel and airsoft use. My dad and I also own a wide-variety of zoom scopes from various high quality brands such as Leupold, US Optics, and Yukon that we use for hunting, but could also be classified as military optics as they see use in the military for more specialized roles. -------------------- ![]() part out the cat fur? my wife is allergic, and if I give it to her she'll be too busy sneezing to complain about me and airsoft. or she'll go into shock and slowly suffocate. Absolutely not, the cat fur is worth $75 alone. Buy my G3! M203 & Accessories, Help me fund my New Loadout and Hi-Capa. |

I think he may mean it's made for RS, not airsoft. A cheap scope on a .300 rum at long ranges won't hold a zero, and you'll be shooting off on the second shot (trust me, I've tired). Even my G&P Aimpoint will slip after a few mags of .223 on my AR.
EDIT: Do USO and Leupold count as combat/military optics? I believe they are used on military snipers/DMRs, right? EDIT 2: Here's a pic from a local airsofter's tour in Iraq in '05-'06, and according to him, these have Leupold scopes on them. Leupolds are limited to the DMRs and Snipers which are quite a rare breed when it comes to the military. -------------------- ![]() When in deadly danger, when beset by doubt, run in little circles, wave your arms and shout! There are PLENTY of RS clones of military sights though...
I have (well I should say my dad has) a L3 EOtech 552 without the NV capability... I forget the model number escapes me at the moment though. -------------------- ![]() |

Ugh, the poll numbers already aren't matching....
Is it a 552 A65? That's the most common one. -------------------- ![]() When in deadly danger, when beset by doubt, run in little circles, wave your arms and shout! FS: Updated Active Braking Mosfets, MP7 stuff, Multicam, Gas Inlet Valve O-rings, and more. |

I get annoyed by people who spend large sums of money on military optics, and then put them on toy airsoft guns. They are much better suited for a real fire-arm.
