KSC Nighthawk essentially is the same gun as KWA 1911 DS which discontinue long while ago. Parts diagram still can be located on the net. However, the part numbers system are different between KWA and KSC.

By cleaning I hope you don't mean by "Blasting" with silicon oil.

But yeah... no different between CO2 vs. Green Gas GBB.

They'll sling bbs far enough, but with groups only good for a sidearm.

And that's enough for most people. Even shooting my M8040 I only shoot at 15 meters steel plate.

That said the M9 PTP trigger spring does snap too often and Guges Mk3 assessment on KWA is pretty spot on.

On the other hand, KWA fixed the 1911 firing pin and power stroke issue on the 1911. When is it coming out is another story.

My favorite KWA pistol and sadly hard to find anymore is the HK45. New hop-up (no more ball style rolling hop-up) and a large double stack mag that holds enough pressure for almost 3 mags per fill.

I like it but it seems a bit pricey for what I'm trying build. Maybe if it is closer to my 300 mark then I would consider it.

For the record, the Krytac official announcement made during IWA show mentioned the SR47 is at $315 USD.

Ah.. I see. So this is a "one-off" gearbox with radius cut. It looks pretty tough.

Personally I pick neither. But here is a hint, take a look at Evike and AirsoftGI Boneyard (Actual store not the online store) and you'll know which one NOT to get.

In fairness that stock has been in development since 2010. I guess they have finally decided announced at Shot Show 2014.

"Hey look at this fancy battery stock we've got here. and no you can't have it yet"

haha.... I'm glad someone actually remembered TM doesn't make the 1st AEG.

And I believe R-hop idea was from G-hop? HS5 mentioned it somewhere before so it really doesn't matter who's original. Good ideas and designs will always get cloned. However, if you can protect it and profit from it then you are successful.

Anyhow, this tread is an interesting read... please continue and I'm bringing the popcorn.

Personally, P90 with a box mag is pretty awkward.

Tippmann is like the Honda of airsoft. Everything they build and sell simply works, even if it isn't very exciting or cutting edge. If they're making airsoft stuff, you can bet it will work, even if it won't be especially flashy.

Honda for Paintball. For airsoft still need time to prove itself. However, I'm interested though... if they price it right it might take some business from GBB rifle manufacturers for those don't care much on realistic operation.

I am looking for an airsoft gun for my little brother. I need it to have a reputation like a real Ak-47. A gun that last forever and the gear box won't fail. Or the stock brake off. Any ideas?

Wishful thinking. Reliable AK also depend which country made them. Some definitely worst than others.

Never heard of X High tech brand. Until we know who's their OEM it doesn't change my opinion on any brand.

1. What spring are you pulling?!

2. Cheap + high tech usually don't exist. If it's cheap, there is a reason why. Perhaps inferior pinon gear... etc.

I'd stay away from unknown brand and oversea retailers.

If it looks like plastic gearbox then you don't have a metal gearbox.

Actually no.

I spend sometime talking to Mr. Chu during Shot Show and he showed me the new design. The new receiver body can now house the updated split gearbox as well as the their new V2 gearbox.

It's not bad at all.

ICS latest m4 series are now using standard V2 gearbox. You should check out Shot Show news sometime.

a-wink.gif Yeah...what do "we" know...messing with these things back 12 years ago absolutely has no bearing on what happens today...

I bet within the first 10 test shot without a STS the front flies off of it with a M170.

I don't even need to bet. I've done that already with another well known gearbox shell. All you have to do is freeze it, fire in full auto and watch the front flies off.

I personally wouldn't use TM shell with m170 even with added sorbo pad.. Most of these old shell are using inferior zinc alloy. Eventually they will crack in the cold and they will crack with high stress. Just saying...

It's really not that hard to understand. However, most of the information you read on forums usually contains half the information and don't clearly explain why certain things happen this way. The truth is, you can still use a 11.1v lipo on AEG WITHOUT a mosfet if you know the REST of the requirement.

1. Original TM AEG comes with a 15 amps fuse. So technically if your motor working too hard and pull more than 15 amps will trip the fuse. That said, the fuse does have a delay in time meaning it does allow the currents to exceed 15 amps for a few more second before it trip the fuse.

2. Modern AEG comes with better wiring and can resist overheat when the motor pulls over 15 amps. Case in point some AEG in the market now comes with 20 amps fuse. And in fact, some trigger contacts have better material that can withstand 30 amps pull without burning.

I personally like to run 11.1v lipo with a 15c discharge rate and 1100 - 1600 mAh on my AEG. By calculation, it should not produce more than 30 amps even when you do rapid firing in semi.

Note that when you first pull the trigger, the contact switch make a complete circuit and in that instance the amp will spike. If you didn't let go the trigger the amp will drop back to normal. This is call continuous AMP. Likewise, if you rapidly pull the trigger in semi or burst, the each time you make contact will spike and over time if the AMP is too high this is when burning the trigger switch will occur.

So, either you choose a lipo battery that stays with in spec of the gun Or get Mosfet to regulate the amp so you an use higher discharge rate and higher amp lipo battery. The choice is yours.

how long can a TM v2 withstand a m170 spring provided its radiused and sorbo'd?

Assuming it's really a true TM v2 gearbox and you are dropping a m170.

At minimum you'll need to switch out the stock gear and piston and piston head for a stronger one. While it's opened might as well switched out the spring guide.
Next you need to replaced the 6mm nylon bushing to solid steel bushing.

re-shimmed the gearbox, put it all back together and avoid playing the cold. Otherwise it's guarantee to cracked.

So in another word, the stock TM gearbox really not suited for m170 spring.

Good luck.
