Well the days of systema parts are certainely gone a-grin.gif

I'm sure upgrading a kwa can be done, but it's not the greatest platform either. Its possible to fit a square peg in a round hole, you just need a dremel a-laugh.gif

Upgrading a kwa should only be done by someone experienced with gearbox work with the right tools. They are certainely not for new techs.

Can someone point me somewhere where somebody compares a marui v2 gearbox with the kwa 2gx gearbox? Using HIGH QUALITY DIGITAL CALIPERS or other extremely precise measuring device. I'm still not believing that kwa is tm compatible.

True... but that doesn't mean I don't know what you guys are doing to the gearbox.

And BTW... dremel not required.

Yeah they do. I've seen topics made questioning politely about some questionable stuff KWA does to their guns and later seeing the topic being deleted since they were quote "flaming KWA".

Here's another pitiful topic that I'm surprised hasn't been taken down with the moderators being very one sided:

http://kwausa.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6354&st=0

Honestly, I'm surprised how a lot of the people there kept their cool when talking to some of the ignorant people there, especially SVT Cobra and that Hitman guy. The fact that some users even stated that ASM did not have quality techs and that people such as HS5 are 'jokes' is quite pathetic.

Hell, there was a thread recently where a fellow ASM member went to KWA's forum to fix his G36. Asked about AOE correction and a moderator told them that stock a KWA is AOE corrected with sorbopad. We both know that's BS. Want to know what happened to the thread? Deleted to back track and fix their mistake.

http://forums.airsoftmechanics.com/index.p...6.html#msg81136

I saw the thread with my own two eyes and even replied. Now it's gone.

Sorry to bring back old thread from July. To REX3453, I said "Take down" meaning we don't delete a thread base on KWA bashing. Locking a thread is necessary because it becomes a flame war and non-productive. I'm pretty sure ASF have similar policy. Am I right Robert? If he's even reading this.

As to Bossman, I was an extremely active ASF member since 2005. I'm very old school and from the days of Systema / TM upgrades. Consider you guys are being spoil compared to the cost what I used to spend on AEG upgrades. And to answer your question am I being a KWA Fan boy? Well.... not because I'm a fan boy but I got recruited by KWA in 2008 so I might know a thing or two about airsoft guns. Just saying.

This^

Kwa might be better than jg or other china clones stock. But frankly, I could care less about stock performance. Upgradeability and external quality are much more important to me.

This is the reason why we ask anyone wants to upgrade to visit KWA forum. IT CAN BE DONE and I'm old school of Systema upgrade. You get the straight answer without the BS to filtered.

Stopped by here once in a blue moon and every time I've seen some very unfounded claims and misinformation on KWA guns. Please, if you really want to learn. visit KWA technical forum. Just like Philsaudio said, lots can be done on the Type 3 gearbox.

This is pretty funny considering more newbies use LiPo's than I can think of.

I will admit a KWA "could" be a good starter gun, but they market it up so much it makes me sick. I don't want to support their business. My boss always wants to *&tt in his shorts every time he shoots my KM4 RIS, when I know that my other guns out perform it with ease and all I can do is a-crazy.gif each time.

There was a discussion about a week ago on the KWA forum displaying the specs of which LiPos can be run in their guns. A couple people posted incidents how their gun broke after 100 shots even on a 10.8v. Not to my surprise, KWA has already taken down that thread a-laugh.gif. Ya, I am going to steer clear of a company that can't even mount up and take that their products are highly overrated.

Seriously, what thread are you talking about? KWA forum don't take down any thread just because people complains about the gun.

That would be kinda hard to find. Shooter's design made some nice slide that will fit on KSC/KWA slide but they are bit too heavy and will effect performance of the gun.

Haven't tried G&P... one from Echo1 does work with KWA M16.
The only one I know for sure doesn't fit properly and will affect the barrel is one from CA.

I don't use spray oil, I use the stuff that Airsoft Innovations sells, you just drip it into the propane cannister then attach the adaptor. Gets soaked up like it's going out of style.

Just wanted to clear up the fact that it's not just spray type oils.

Then I'm not sure what's in the Airsoft Innovation silicon oil. KWA package comes with little bottle of silicon oil as well and those have no issue at all.
Then again, any oil should stay out of hop-up bucking in the first place.

This is a good thing... KWA hopups soak up silicon oil and then jam. I can't use the same propane cannisters for my rifles/regular handguns and my KZ75 because of that.

This only apply when using spray type silicon oil which contains aerosol. (not good with rubber aka Urethane) it's fine using RC car shock oil like 25-30 wt.

BTW, the latest batch of ATP have snappier recoil spring. A trigger safety is also added to the gun.

It will fit. KWA receiver pivot like a TM so you'll need to use a 2-piece hop-up that with the gun.

In terms of ATP upgrade. The internal is just like the old KWA M17 or KSC G17 series. So literally all KSC G17 upgrade parts can be install on the ATP.

However, ATP also have a few upgraded parts like metal rocket valve. Hurricane KSC G17 upgrade kit is also a good option. Aftermarket barrels made for the KSC G17 also fit. ie. KM Head, Mad Bull, PDI... etc...

Range is also not an issue with ATP. Check out this video on actual combat footage using ATP. He's got multiple of them.

Most of the time you can't see the damage on the follower. If it doesn't slide, it's either the follower is deformed or damage. The mag body itself may have a burr in the channel. If you can't fix it yourself I would recommend you contact KWA Help Desk. And since you are located in SoCal. You might be close enough to drop the mag off at the service center located in City of Industry.

You need to determine which version do you have. Try this...

Rack the slide open and look at the nozzle. It's metal and silver. You most likely have Pre-NS2/Pre-System7 gas engine.

If the nozzle is black and polymer, then you have a NS2/System7 gas engine.

Your magazine can also tell which version. If you don't see the BB follower then you have the Pre NS2 version.

Like wise, if the mag have BB follower that you can pull down and lock then you have the NS2 version.

BTW, found another smaller caliber is 380 ACP. Glock 25 I believe.

No problem. but you are correct about the compact glock. M19 and M26 mags are too short for standard ATP.

The ATP is based on a 1:1 scale with the glock 17 model, so you should look into models that will holster that variant. It is compatible with the blackhawk serpa g17 holster.

I am not a pro on this, but the old kwa g17 and g18c systems were not compatible--the ATP should then not work with a g18c slide selected on full auto.

The mags you are looking for are any KWA m17, m34 or m18c mags, which are exactly the same. The only difference between the ATP mag and the old g17/18c/34 mags is the butt plate is a little more stylish. If you are looking for an extended mag, know that it is the same thing as the standard cap mag when it comes to compatibility. Also remember that it must be this model (17/18c/34), the smaller "caliber" pistols have different sized magazines.

ATP's are base on M series pistols especially the M17. It is compatible to Glock 17, 34 holster. ie, Serpa, Blade-Tech, Safariland etc...
As for internal parts, it's about 95% the same M17, with adjustment to the inner frame structure and barrel. Difference are mostly in material change. Most noticeable is the rocket value is now a metal on the ATP.
You can definitely use existing M series mag as well.

Now... about the smaller "caliber" AFAIK, Glock smallest caliber is 9mm. Which is deploy on G17, G18c, G34. So I'm not sure what do you mean by smaller caliber pistols have different sized magazine. Maybe I'm reading something wrong here.

For most up to date information on KWA products please visit KWA official forum at http://kwausa.com/forums/ Thanks.

On the other hand, I'm not naive to think our guns aren't without problems. We have been actively addressing each one of them. Either it's fixing QC issue or improve internal parts, we want our customers to be able to enjoy their purchase. This is why we've spend so much time and effort to build up customer service dept.

In any case, I don't post on ASF unless it is absolutely necessary. If you guys are curious about why we do things differently then please visit KWA Forum.

Please keep your hop-up clean of any oil and grease. There is really no reason to spray any silicon inside. It will actually does more harm as spray silicon oil contain aerosol. When in contain with urethane (rubber bucking) it will expand. MP7 hop-up housing is very tight so doesn't have much room to expand and will cause BB jam. Use silicon oil (in a bottle), just a few drop into the piston cup and that's pretty much all you need to do.
