I finally got the time to test various buckings and tight bore barrel and how they fit the KWA M4 hopup.

Here is my result.

1. Using KWA Stock barrel
a. Systema - Tight, will go in without problem
b. Prometheus - Very Tight, not recommended.
c. Firefly - Good Fit

2. Using MadBull TB barrel
a. Systema - Tight fit, sleeve will stretch, need mod.
b. Prometheus - Won't fit.
c. Firefly - Tight fit.

3. Using Guarder TB Barrel
a. Systema - Tight, will go in without problem
b. Prometheus - Very Tight, not recommended.
c. Firefly - PERFECT FIT - goes in smooth, no stretch, no struggle, no problem.

Basically, you can skip Prometheus bucking as it's just very tight. I was using the soft one and it's still tight. Really not recommended.

Systema will fit with some work.

Firefly on the other hand completely and perfectly fit using a Guarder TB. And its also the most expensive out of the 3 buckings I've tried.

So if you on a budget, Systema will do with some work. You got the $$$ go with Firefly.

Now I need to test the range using these buckings with a Guarder inner barrel. It's got some feature like a KM barrel but will it stack up? I'll find out soon.

Very helpful, considering the number of people asking what barrels and buckings will work. Maybe a pin? Thanks for taking the time (and money) to figure that out!

A review for a "Got Hop Up?" patch off of Airsoft GI:
5 stars, kinda stiff when I got it, just wash it with something like conditioner
What is it with airsofters and modding everything they can get their hands on??!! Mags, BB's, and now even patches. Gotta love it.

Thank you so much allizard, I was trying to find what bucking I could use with my mad bull. And just how tight is the firefly, why is it good, and where can I get one. That would be greatly appreciated. This needs to be pinned.

I have't shoot the gun with firefly bucking yet. I'm waiting on the M4S to arrive and will drop it inside.
However, when I look inside the firefly bucking I was like "Whoa!! that's .... different." My friend at Airsoft Advantage calls it "The magic hopup" and if I have to put it in words why it's different.... think of a bucking that's with a "build-in" H hop nub. you press it down... all you see is two FANGS coming down very strange.

Tokyo Model Company do carry Guarder TB. I think these are new products as I haven't heard too many places carry them.

I got some update on the range test.

On a stock KWA G36c using stock barrel I'm getting about 130 feet. Around 43 yards. With a Firefly bucking and Guarder TB. I'm getting a whooping 180 feet that's 60 yards!! Very nice!

Let's put it this way; since the first day we received the new SRC RPK, which has the same internals as the AK47, we've fired a little more than 100,000 rounds at full auto, and after the first internal inspection the piston barely showed any visible wear. Keep in mind that these guns are shooting between 350 and 375 fps, so we are not talking about a weak spring. Since 100,000 rounds wasn't enough to break the piston we put everything back together and fired some more box magazines through it, and we are happy to say that the RPK is still in fantastic working order and is sitting on display in our walk-in store. 100,000 rounds of constant firing at over 350fps is harsh treatment for a gearbox and its internal parts to undertake

^Tm got pwned.
Even SRC guns can last 100k rounds.
You must re-shim and re-lube MPEG before using them and re-lube after every 25k rounds.

Alright, chances are this is gonna come across all wrong, but do you know if a prometheus TB will fit well into a KWA G36C? As I said earlier, I think it's awesome that you did those tests and posted the results here, and I'm not saying you should have bought every TB out on the market to try them out a-shocked.gif . It just struck me that you would be likely to know the answer, and if you could reccommend another prometheus-level tightbore (not a budget one like a madbull, because I think it's worth the $60 investment for a nice one) then I'd appreciate that, too.

Once again, awesome post.

I think he means the G36C - you have the M4, right?

Allizard, would there be problems fitting an aftermarket barrel and bucking on the G36C? Such as JBU and Promy...

Systema bucking /w Madbull TBB is a bit tight for KWA M4 Hopup. you'll need a lot of lube to get it in. Also, cut off about 1mm or 2mm of the end of the bucking right because it is too long and the rubber will get in the way of the clamp.

Good luck.

What if you took a dremel and took down a little bit of the outer diameter of the inner barrel just a little bit, then could you maybe fit a prommy bucking?

Hey Allizard, the systema bucking that you used, do those only come in one standard form? As in there is no hard/soft type. Also I've been searching for the firefly bucking(soft) and the only place I could find them is at Uncompany and Trinity Airsoft. UC sells them <AT> $15+ but out of stock and TA <AT> $20+. Just wondering where you purchased yours. Maybe you know of a place that sells them cheaper.

One more question =), do you think I would get the same results on my JG M-4 or does KWA use a slightly different style hop up unit.

Whoops didn't mean to quote you Ludacris haha

As far as I know there is only one type of Systema bucking. Firefly is hard to get and very limited quantity. I got mine at Airsoft Advantage and those bucking never stay on the shelves longer than a few days and it will be gone. It was $18.

I'm don't understand your last question. Please clarify.

Here is my result.

1. Using KWA Stock barrel
a. Systema - Tight, will go in without problem
b. Prometheus - Very Tight, not recommended.
c. Firefly - Good Fit

2. Using MadBull TB barrel
a. Systema - Tight fit, sleeve will stretch, need mod.
b. Prometheus - Won't fit.
c. Firefly - Tight fit.

3. Using Guarder TB Barrel
a. Systema - Tight, will go in without problem

I was just wondering on this part. If you knew if I would get these same results with my JG M4. (as far as fitting) Either way I'm going to try and get myself a Firefly bucking and a Systema bucking. Thanks for the reply!

TK barrel isn't design for 400fps gun.

And no, these are specific to KWA. Don't know will it apply JG guns.

It probably will work but a little tight. I have a Prommy on my stock bucking and it's a good fit. Firefly is just a tad bit thicker. Lube it up and it should go in. My Firefly bucking is now in a KWA secret lab somewhere. hehhehe

I'm not sure if this is an old topic, but I was thinking of purchasing a KWA M4 RIS with a DBC TB and Systema bucking. Will this work without modification? I've heard you need to change the air nozzle in order for the gun to be compatible with all hop ups.

thanks guys

you will only need a different air nozzle if you are planning on using aftermarket hop up chambers. if you are just changing the barrel and bucking it shouldn't be a problem.

I haven't tried that combo but if the systema bucking is thinner than a firefly then it should fit. Here's what I've tried:

Prometheus tightbore w/stock bucking: fits good no problems
Prometheus tightbore w/ firefly bucking: Very tight, needs a lot of lube and playing around with.
DBC tightbore w/firefly bucking: Tight, needs lube and also had to cut some of the bucking.

Hope it helps.
