  1. Got my son an HFC G17 that has a metal slide and runs greengas. Heavier weigh feels much better in the hand, and it seems to have a bit more kick than the TM. But the TM is definitely more accurate. I'm running the TM on duster gas. So you think, the kick would be less if I went with a metal slide and greengas? So, the two main reasons for the slide upgrade are to have it fit in the same holster as the real Glock, and so it has the same weight as a real Glock, so I can practice techique more realistically.
  2. I bought a Tokyo Marui Glock 17 to train at home for my real Glock. The TM G17 is great except the trigger pull is only 2.5 pounds, while the real Glock is 5.5 pounds. Is there any way to increase the trigger pull on the TM? I realize I may not be able to get it to 5.5 lbs, but the more the better.
  3. Still a newbie and I've had my TM G17 GBB for 2 weeks now and shot over 1000 rounds. I'm using this exclusively to train on using a real Glock 22 (mainly drawing, sight picture, grip, smooth trigger pull, etc.). It's worked out very very well and is very accurate. But it's too light and I want a bit more kick out of it, so I'll be upgrading to a metal slide. I'll probably get the PGC slide since I've heard that it'll fit in a real Glock formed holster (Guarder won't)...is this true? Any other slide manufacturers that'll fit in a Glock holster. I understand that I need a stronger recoil spring. I'm getting my stuff from UNcompany.com, but they only have a Shooter's Design 150% recoil spring. This will fit on the stock TM spring guide right? Do I also need a 150% hammer spring upgrade? I'll be using green gas/propane after the upgrade. Any point in getting a high-flow valve? Anything I'm missing? Thanks for helping this Newbie out!
  4. If you think the real Glock 17 has a kick, try the Glock 22, which runs a .40S&W round. Ouch. Anyway, got the TM G17 yesterday and shot off one magazine using greengas. Very accurate. Very well made internals. I'm still waiting from my duster gas adapter in the mail before I shoot anymore. I'm going to try the stock slide for a while, before committing to the metal slide upgrade. Gotta say, my accuracy has improved dramatically after 500 rounds. It's going to be another couple weeks before I hit the range with the real Glock to see how much (if any) messing around with the airsoft gun has helped.
  5. Don't think I need a higher FPS at this range, right? After shooting several hundred rounds from my kid's HFC G17 (which is pretty accurate now), seems like 90% of my shooting will be from the 5 to 7 yard line. I mean, the higher FPS shouldn't improve accuracy much at that range, right?
  6. I looked at the PGC slide. It comes with just the slide and outer barrel. Is there anything else I should be getting? For example, high-flow valve, stronger springs (which ones?), anything at all? Again, the goal of this is to make the gun durable, dependable, and shoot as much like a real Glock for target practice drills.
  7. Ordered it from UNCompany.com a couple days ago. Going to fire it w/propane until I kill the plastic slide. Then I'll upgrade to a metal slide. Any thoughts on the metal slide as far as manufacturer and website? As far as my son's HFC, I probably fired close to 400 rounds in the last week. Great not having to drive to the gun range to plink. Of course, it took a while to get used to the airsoft not kicking back much.
  8. Just fired it w/the electrical tape on the inner barrel. It's noticeably more accurate now! No problems either.

  10. On another thread someone told me I could make the HFC G17 more accurate if I put a some electrical tape around the inner barrel so that it doesn't rattle around so much when it fires. First, why is there such a big gap between these the inner and outer barrels? Is it to let gas escape or something? It seems like such a large gap would affect accuracy. So, I did put exactly two layers of electrical tape around the inner barrel near the tip. I then coated the tape lightly with silicone oil. Now, there's less clearance between the two barrels, but the inner barrel can still slide easily. But before I test fire it, I want to make sure that what I did won't harm the gun. Any thoughts? Thanks.

  12. Very nice TM you have there! Do you use green gas instead of 134a? If so, are there any problems with doing that?
  13. From my VERY limited research, it seems like it's the plastic slide that breaks when green gas is used instead of 134a. So, I guess you're right; I'd just have to buy a metal slide with a beefed up spring assembly.
  14. Really? So, people use TM G17s with green gas without any problems? Also, duster gas is 134a gas? Thanks for responding, and thanks for the link.
  15. Guess I'm kinda stupid, but I just figured out the TM G17 GBB I was planning on getting only uses 134a gas. The stuff seems pricier and harder to come by. Does anyone sell a green gas version of the TM G17? If so, is it any less accurate or have any issues? I'm assuming all the reviews I've read are of the 134a version of the TM G17. Finally, I know there are adapters to turn propane into green gas. Is there something similar for 134a?
