  1. t is now October, and that means that Haunted Hollywood Sports Park is back! This year the Park has added two new attractions, Venom Scare Maze, and Dead Man's Trail Killhouse. First off though, a little more on HHSP for those new to it! Haunted Hollywood Sports Park is a yearly event put on by Hollywood Sports Park, including Killhouses, Scarezones, and Mazes, as well as an 18+ club. To make this review easier, I will break it down into the seperate sections. Killhouses: The airsoft part of the event, you are given a gun, (I was given a G36) and mask, and lead along a designated path, with Zombies chasing you, and you shoot at them. It sounds simple, and that is because it is. While not the typical airsofting most airsofters are used to, it is strangely satisfying to run along confused and dazed with zombies leaning for you. It is target practice, but intoxicating. This year, there will be three Killhouses available. Another airsofting option is the typical we are used to, but with HSP's fields all dressed up in apocalyptic or scare themes. These events will be held at night. I did not get to participate in theses, as they were not set up when I went. I will hopefully attend, and update this section if I do. Scarezones: This is where airsofting ends. Basically, these are the themed areas of the park, where entrances to the Killhouses and mazes are. There are two, Carnival of the Damned, and Outpost Z. These have incredible detail put into the sets, and it is very thorough and well done. I was very impressed. The actors were also quite good, and looked good with all their makeup. Mazes: These are hard to describe. They are meant to be scary, which they are at times, but it wasn't the scares that I enjoyed about them. It was the thought that was put into them that I enjoyed. The little details they had made it go from cheesy, to enjoyable. They had prolific use of special effects such as electricity, fog, and firecrackers, but they weren't cliche, or expected. And the claustrophobia tube was like being squeezed between two bounce-houses. That doesn't sound great, by with adrenaline running through you, it is a blast. There are three mazes this year. Club: Basically an 18+ club that serves food, and has entertainment. While not a main focus point of the event, the "shots" we're actually served in syringes, and there is supposed to be good DJs and magicians, but there wasn't when I was there. To summarize up, I was not expecting what I experienced when I visited HHSP. I was expecting minor target practice, with a few mazes with people in them. Not being used to the "haunt" scene, I was thoroughly impressed with the event. Would I go specifically for the airsofting? No, not at all. Because the real fun of this event is the experience, not the actions. It is easy to lose track of time, and get sidelined at an event for a long time. I recommend this event. Details: Location: Hollywood Sports Park 9030 Sommerset Blvd, Bellflower, CA 90706 Dates: October 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, 27, 31 Hours: 7:30PM to 12AM Price $30 (lots of rebates available. Without you, this wouldn't be possible, and I am honored to so this every year. However, this year had a smaller showing than normal. I am working closely with the moderators to find a long term fix to this, and I welcome any suggestions regarding this. If you do have a suggestion, please PM me. Once again, thank you, and congratulations to those who participated.
  3. And the build off is closed. I am sorry for the delay, in a rare case, I was caught without internet. Judges, I will be in contact with you shortly, and I plan to have results up within 2-3 weeks.
  4. If this doesn't pick up soon, this will not be a good build off. So people of the forum, please post your guns, so the build off can go on!
  5. You are good. Did it perfectly. Do it, do it, do it. Others willing to join in, just do it. Even the smallest guns may have big results...
  6. Let's get rolling people! The competition needs... more competition.
  7. Is there seriously nobody on this forum willing to submit their guns and gear? I know you are out there. It just takes 10 minutes. Add your stuff!
  8. I'm sorry, I was away for a week on family business, I should be here until the end of the build-off now. I need judges. Volunteer up! I know there has to be people out there not planning on entering.
  9. Welcome to the 2013 Summer Build Off and Loadout Competition Rules: 1. One gun or Loadout per post. It can be any gun or loadout you like, unless in violation of rule number 7. Remember, the most expensive items may not always win. 2. A single person can enter multiple guns or loadouts, yes, that means you can double post BUT ONLY IN THE ENTRIES THREAD. 3. Judges may not enter anything. 4. You may edit your post however you see fit. If you wish to remove your entry, or you need to edit it and no longer can, Star_Folder, Airborne101, or any of the mods can help you. Please message one of them with the subject title "Build Off Assistance" and they will get to you when they can. Also, please only message one of them. 5. The Build Off will start Friday, June 21st, the first day of Summer, and conclude on Sunday, September 21st, the last day of Summer. 6. All Discussion of entries is to be in this thread. All non entries posts will be deleted from the entries thread. 7. Previous winners may not re-enter winning guns without at least 50% difference, and must be verified by me. So you can enter a gun that has won in the past, but 50% of parts must be changed. That can be external, internal or both. All final decisions on this rule are mine, and mine only. 8. Remember what you post can be seen by anybody that is on the internet. This is especially true with the new Loadout Competition, as you may have your face exposed. If you are under 18, please have parental consent to post a non-edited photo on this forum. If you want your face blurred, but do not know how to do it, PM me. Please, be safe. 9. All other forum rules apply. Please use this thread for discussion, and current judges list. Have fun, and good luck to all!
  10. You don't HAVE to, but it could HELP you. Some judges are pickier about that than others. Not the only site that is. Now Airsoft Society is having a DMR build-off as well. Remember, if you post it on another site, it can easily be transferred over here as well. Nowhere in the rules does it say you can only enter on one site.
  11. The JG Bar-10 is a fairly good base if you want to build a sniper rifle. Problem is, for that rifle to be competitive with a tuned AEG, you need to put hundreds of dollars into it. The Lancer I haven't heard about, but CYMA AKs are right in that price range, and they are a lot of gun for the money. That is if you just want mid level play. Personally, what I would do is pony up about $30 more, and get a G&P rifle instead of both of those. It is a great rifle that will last a long time, and be above mid level play.
  12. Welcome to the 2013 Summer Build Off and Loadout Competition! Before the competition is started, I do have some notes to share with you. This year, I have decided to keep the Loadout competition, in hopes that the summertime air, and beautiful weather to get more people out, and snapping photos. In addition, this year the categories will not be revealed beforehand. Depending on how many guns and loadouts are entered, there will be a proportionate amount of winners. Please, please, please make sure your pictures work all the way through the competition. One competitor did not, and he was not scored very high due to that. First, we have to have some rules. Rules: 1. 4. All other forum rules apply. Now, I will need 10 People to be gun or gear judges. First to PM me will get the Job. You can do both. I will edit their names in below: Guns: 1. airborne101 2. JGM 3. conmanagc 4. TCHJJ 5. Dmitri Kalashnikov 6. Zenocide Gear: 1. airborne101 2. JGM 3. conmanagc 4. TCHJJ 5. Dmitri Kalashnikov 6.
