  1. Grrr... Something in my computer went wack and deleted what I was posting, so I'm just going to get to the point . I don't mind if the spring comes shooting hot, but I care about the safety of the gun. I'm aiming for a broad spectrum of 430-470 fps w/ a .20 bb (I use .25's and sometimes .28's). I want to have to buy a minimal amount of upgrades so I'll be content with the lower fps. What brand of motor or model do you recommend? Also what power of spring should I look at? It seems that the rating and power of differing brand springs can vary, especially the matrix ones. I also will be using a prometheus 6.03 tbb, which will raise the fps a little as well.
  2. I'm going to buy a G&P M14 DMR and decided to buy some upgrades with it. One of the upgrades I want is a Matrix m130 spring for it, but I don't want destroy other parts in the gearbox or the motor. I've heard that G&P made reliable motors (I could be wrong), so I am mainly concerned with the gearbox. Will I need to upgrade other parts as well? I'll have the angle of engagement adjusted and the gears properly shimmed. If the m130 spring is too strong, I think I'll just get a weaker spring, like an m125. I'd really appreciate your honest opinion on this, as I do not know very much about this topic. I've linked the gun and spring below. Thanks! gunlink springlink
  3. Thanks so much! All of you have been helpful, especially airborne. I found a 9.6v 1500 mah elite cell battery that will fit in my gun for a great price.
  4. Alright. Will an 8.4v 1500mah battery be strong enough (and have a good rof) with an m125? Should I upgrade to a 9.6v or anything in your opinion?
  5. Thanks for the quick, knowledgeable responses! On the website where I bought it, in the description it said full metal gearbox. Does that mean that every single part is metal? I was thinking I was going to learn to upgrade the bushings, piston, etc. I need to buy some shims and learn how to do that. If I install a m125 is there any other parts that aren't to hard to upgrade that I could do to be safe? I'm on a budget and I don't want the gearbox to get wrecked or anything. Also, since the spring is stronger would it require more battery power to pull back? I've never had the battery (8.4v 1500mah) run out on me during a war, but could it be an issue? Thanks again!
  6. I'm relatively new to airsoft, and I've done upgrades to other parts of the gun but not the gearbox. I have a JG M16A3 (full metal gearbox): http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-JG-M164-610.htm I'd like to upgrade the spring to an m120 (maybe m125). What upgrades would I need to upgrade the spring without wrecking the gearbox? If it helps I have I believe I have a version 2 gearbox, and I have some upgrades like an scs nub, 6.03 tbb, G&P Hop up bucking, etc. (In the topic I meant "upgrade" fail)
  7. Yeah I did put silicon oil on it a make sure it was in. I didn't cram it in. Any suggestions? I'm going to try it again. When I look into the hop up unit, it looks like its being squished a little into a oval-circle shape and I don't know why
  8. My old hop-up bucking tore, so I purchased a new one. I installed it properly (I think) but when I fire the gun (JG M16A3) it gets stuck or barely shoots. Additional info: Tightbore barrel is a steel 6.03mm Hop up bucking: http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=36022 I believe the issue is that at the front of the hopup unit, when I look into it, it looks like its being squished into an oval... If you have any suggestions please reply! Thanks
  9. Thanks to everyone for all their help! I'm going to wait a couple weeks and see if I can get some of this stuff for my birthday, otherwise I'll just buy it because its so cheap. I may need some help in a couple weeks but I know this is the place I will go for fast, reliable help with it.
  10. Thank you so much! I just have one more question... I've looked around at the kind of battery you specified and a lot of the results are for racing cars, etc. They look like they are very similar but are they actually? Do you know of any not-to-expensive options?
  11. First off, I want to say I'm not an experienced airsofter. I own an JG M16a3 (http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-JG-M164-610.htm), which I would like to upgrade. I'm going to get a Prometheus 6.01 tightbore barrel for it (I know how to install and its not an issue). Would I need a hard bucking? I also wanted to upgrade the stock spring on it to a m125 spring. So I opened up the gun and got to the gear box but I couldn't open it up because I didn't have the right tool. I don't know what kind of gearbox it has(SB engraved in one side), but all the internals are stock and I want to know if I could upgrade to an m125 spring (with the right tool ) without having to upgrading other internals. Sorry that I don't have much for you guys to work with, but if some awesome person could do some research and help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
