  1. Hello everybody, Ive been to a couple skirms using rental kits so far, however it is time for me to buy my first AEG I Consider myself as the biggest airsoft n00b alive, and all the upcoming advice and suggestions are welcome. thanks in advance. my budget is considered to be MAX €400 euro, however preferable less for more ofcourse. I have played both indoor(CQB) and outdoor(fields), and untill now ive liked both alot. so I guess the barrel length shouldnt be too short/long. as a beginner airsofter I made the choice to play as a normal soldier/assaulter, without any in depth specifications. Learn the basics, then specialize. Ive already done some research evenings and figured out the what type/kind of airsoft model I prefer. I love the M4 models with a full attachment rails over the top. and a longer looking outer barrel/handguard. I will propably add the following attachments ( Mildot or Eotech optics, Angled foregrip, flashlight(or peqbox), (optional, 3x flip to side magnification) suppressor/tracer unit. I have narrowed my pick down to a few remaining models ( ofcourse, all other suggestions/advices are still much appreciated) -G&G GC16 Warthog 9" ( or 12") €360,23 (€370,97 for 12") $ 425,61 -G&G GC16 SRL €300,60 (€360, but has special offer) $ 355,16 - VFC VR16 saber carbine mod 1 €389,50 $ 460,20 - VFC Avalon Saber €486,26 $574,52 for reference ( not interested in model) , krytac LVOA-S €510 $ 602,57 , yes I guess Europe is more expensive... ) I do not mind to buy the best replica out of the box, I do not mind teching on it either, and ive already planned on doing some mods/checks just to be sure about the durability of the AEG. ( shimming, after market hop-up, bucking/nub, applying a flat-hop, changing wiring to more durable/less resistance ones, connecting DEANS. (everything if needed ofcourse, if the stock is fine by itself I wont change it) also I want to instantly use Lipo batteries, which shouldnt be a problem because all of them are delivered with mosfet or ETU. I was thinking about 11.1v, above 1000mah with 25C or + . ( suggestions, brands to avoid/or specially use?, also I could use some smart charger guidance) Here are my current questions between de different models I have mentioned above. - as previously said, I don't mind teching on my AEG, however I am noob/beginner so I would avoid the advanced stuff to start with, basicly the questions are all based around the fact, shall I buy a pre upgraded AEG ( the Avalon saber,) or upgrade the lower G&G warthog/SRL or the previous model vr16 saber? Time it takes for me to install/apply the after market upgrades(teching) is no issue, I would like to do it anyway. HOWEVER money is an issue. The 400 euro is the LIMIT for an AEG (excl. batteries/bbs/few extra mags/charger) example : if I buy the €360 euro GC16 warthog 9" , then I will have €140 euro left for upgrading the AEG, inner barrel, motor, everything in the gearbox, to the same or better specifications as the out of the box VFC avalon Saber. is this even possible for the price difference? - is the VFC avalon saber perfect, or what is a MUST to upgrade after market? ( consider there is no budget for it ) - is the VFC avalon saber and VR16 saber carbine mod 1 considered too long for indoor (CQB) play area's ? - What is the stock inner barrel diameter of the G&G brands? ( 6.08mm, or are stocks 6.04 , read this somewhere) and if so, is installing a 6,03mm tightbore a top priority over bucking/nub/motor ? - What are the motor types used in both the G&G GC16? - is the almost 100 euro difference between the VFC avalon saber and the VR16 saber carbine mod 1 worth it? ( the Avalon saber is the same newer released edition from the VR16 series, upgraded gearbox, 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, better performance motor ( not sure which one particular, anyone? ) (almost same question as the example above, I know) - is the quick change spring system in the VFC gearbox worth it? does it make much of a difference? - what are the differences between the G&G GC16 warthog 9" and the SRL edition? ( because there is a difference in price) except for some external changes , SRL has some lines in the top receiver and has keymod rail on the 45 degrees angle of the handguard/outer barrel - is the ETU system in the G&G brand any good or should it be avoided/removed/changed? ive read multiple reviews about this, and its very mixed. ive read this system does two things ( the fire mode option to burst, works as a MOSFET, doenst burn trigger contact. However few websites selling the G&G brand recommened to only use 11.1v C15 batteries, because more C will fry the system, and Nimh wouldnt work with the ETU? - are there ANY other really considerable differences between G&G and VFC , except the ones mentioned earlier? at last her are the delivered links to the specific AEG's I have previously talked about. https://www.qtac.nl/airsoft-replicas/rifles/aeg-rifles/12112-vr16-saber-carbine-mod1 https://gunfire.pl/product-eng-1152207755-GC16-SRL-Assault-Rifle-Replica.html https://gunfire.pl/product-eng-1152211848-Avalon-Saber-Carbine-Replica.html https://gunfire.pl/product-eng-1152208359-GC16-Warthog-9-Assault-Rifle-Replica.html Thank you for your time and effort to help me in my ultimate search to my dream AEG. 3. Hello, I recently bought an A&K Magpul Masada from the AirsoftStation retail store (I live in MN). I took the gun out to the field yesterday and, as a stock gun, it is the best I have ever played with. Granted, this has been my most expensive gun, but still. I was blown away at how far I was hitting people. Anyways, I noticed the BB's have a great range, but the hop-up was not incredibly consistent. I'm pretty sure this is due to the gun coming with the plastic stock hop-up unit. The guy at the store I bought it from suggested that I upgrade that right off the bat, which I am looking to do right now. In the future I'll most likely put a new barrel in there, and maybe upgrade various internals, but for now the gun works fine. I currently have found two aluminum hop-up units on Evike. One is "CNC", the other is "Wii Tech CNC". The simply "CNC" one has four reviews saying that it is great. Yet the "Wii Tech" has none. There is a $40 difference between the prices, and I'm not sure if that extra money is actually worth it. Also, I have to replace the stock. On the field we were playing a hostage gamemode, and I had to bandage the hostage. I put my gun down for a few seconds, and in the chaos someone kicked it and broke the stock... So having to buy a $30 stock and a $65 hop-up unit is kinda harsh on me, since I am on a tight budget. In the end, my main question is: Is the extra ~$40 worth it? If it really is, then I can make the budget work. If not, let me know. The guy at the store said I should drop around $60 for the new hop-up, I just want another opinion on it. What also makes this harder is that I am not entirely sure what parts fit my Masada. I would like some tac. rails, but I can't seem to find any Masada-specific handrail kits. I am also not sure what barrels will fit my gun, or if specific ones work better/worse for Masadas. Same goes for suppressors. I'm not confident enough to buy parts based on my own knowledge yet, since the various brands, models and variants make it very hard for me to understand what will work and what will not. It seems like there are hardly any parts for Masadas specifically, but can I use other AR modification kits, such as ones for ACRs? Thanks so much for the help, Caleb
  4. When I first got my KWA CQBR mod 1, it was shooting around 350 fps. I recently put the following upgrades in my gun trying to get better fps, range and accuracy. A m140 spring, a high torque motor, a new piston and piston head, and an angel custom 6.01 inner barrel. After installation my fps was about 230. So then I installed a type 0 cylinder and just because I was crunched for time I put in the old weaker spring. Now my chrono reads about 18 fps. The bb is literally rolling out of the barrel with a fully charged battery. Before I installed the cylinder I checked the air seal with the piston and it seemed to be fine. I really have no idea what the issue is. Any advise would be very appreciated.
  5. So I've been wanting something to use as a flashlight for my airsoft rifle and I wanted to get an element peq-16A (Retails ~ $55) and I asked my friend for advice and he said that I should instead go with a dedicated flashlight. The laser or IR light on the peq-16 wouldnt be something I would really use anyways, but it does look cooler than a regular torch to me. He recommended I get the night evolution NE04003(Retails ~ $58. I've also taken a look at the night evolution NEFORCE weapon mounted light(Retails ~ $57) I know that the peq box would not be as bright as a dedicated flashlight, but im still debating if I should give up looks for a brighter light. Can I get any opinions please? Also any recommendations of other light systems around $55 or less? I play mainly cqb but I also play field every so often. Also- I don't care to light up an entire building, im just looking for something to use that will make it easier to see my bb's and to maybe blind my opponents a little.
  6. Hi, first of all, new here and to the sport in a serious fashion. Had a couple of small skirmishes back in junior high and really enjoyed it, so now I'm in with a group of people who do this on a regular basis and I'd like to have some proper equipment finally but as this is my first real expense in this area I don't want to break the bank, I want to ease into these higher priced guns. Now down to specs, in order of importance. Needs to be M4 mag compatible, with perhaps one exception I can think of. Solid factory internals but upgrade friendly so I can keep future costs down, so pretty much TM spec. although exceptions might possibly be made. Stock around 350 fps, I want something CQB legal but that is going to somewhat capable on the field until I can get dedicated primaries. (quick change spring would also be acceptable since it would allow me to make the necessary field changes for both arenas) Needs to have picatinny rail for mounting optics would like to have RIS for foregrip, M203, MBUS style sights and such, but is not a necessity. External build quality and upgradeability is much more important that external material. I'm careful with my current LPEG equipment so I'm sure some sturdy ABS would be fine, but I'd prefer Nylon Fiber Polymer, henceforth NFP for ease of reference, or metal externals. Battery space is a concern, I wouldn't mind running a fixed stock at all, but if I could find a decent adjustable I'd prefer that. (something similarly styled to a magpul UBR minus the price tag) I tend to like M4's and Bullpup arrangements so any of those are acceptable Non-blow back is prefered, I don't want to have to deal with a BB mechanism or it wearing down other parts needlessly. Now those are my requests for recommendations, now for the hard part. Seeing as I'm looking at upgrading the gun going into the future, likely to the point that I legitimately replace nearly every aspect of the thing to fit my play style as a grow and adapt, and seeing that it's my first serious gun... My budget I'm willing to spend $200-ish. perhaps another $50 IF it's just something I absolutely NEED once I look at it. But I would prefer to spend less in case I've over-anticipated my seriousness about the sport. and I don't mind getting a cheaper gun with a crap motor or hop up bucking if it has a good gearbox as those are cheap and easy to upgrade. So far I've seriously considered, again in order of seriousness: http://www.evike.com/products/45417/ http://www.evike.com/products/38178/ http://www.evike.com/products/39919/ http://www.evike.com/products/37757/ http://www.evike.com/products/41551/ http://www.evike.com/products/47647/ These are only what I've considered but it tends to be what I like. I'm aware each have their quirks, Like KWA's proprietary hop chamber and the motors on the Combat Machine series tend to be crap. The P90 ISN'T M4 mag compatible which is a huge issue, but there are exceptions and one of our other guys already has a P90 he runs and I love it so exception made. The Tavor is hard to find parts for from what I hear, and the UAR V.1 had a couple of glaring problems with mag compatibility and feeding issues, which they claimed to have fixed with the V.2 but it's APS so who knows. So as much as I like the bullpups I'm leaning towards the M4 platforms at the moment, mainly the CM18 and the CQR. My team runs midcaps almost exclusively, mostly MAG brand, so compatibility is a concern. If anyone has an opinion on the rifles listed or an acceptable alternate please feel free to let me know. I'm looking for something versatile, that I can be patient and somewhat precise with or provide some limited light fire support in a pinch with, and again, needs to be CQB capable with some field applications, so around 350 fps or easy swap spring.
