Real Pmag To Airsoft Modification

Recommended Posts

This is just a rough guide I made for someone. Hope it helps.

First, cut the mag to the same level as the magazine shell.

Next, cut off all of the raised ridges on the mag internals and round the front to the contour of the front of the PMAG.

Then, file down the two ridges on the inside sides of the PMAG.

Try a test fit. If you did it right, it should be a very tight fit. Mine are pressure fitted in and they work fine.

Take the locking baseplate and spring and cut it to look like a Z. I made the mistake of cutting up the baseplate on my 30 round mag, but my 20 round mag still has it. If you ruin the locking baseplate, you can't use the PMAG Ranger Pulls. If it is a tight fit, file down the bump so the baseplate can slide over it.

Now, just fit the internals into the mag, and assemble the baseplate just like you would with a normal PMAG.

This is what you should have:

Very cool. This could be a cost effective way of getting mid cap twenty rounders... Figure the AEG mag will cost $15 and the PMAG will be anohter $15. ASGI has the thirty so yeah, not bad at all. Granted, I don't think I could chop up my real steel stuff to be exclusively airsoft - Hurry up STAR and release those real caps!

Does the magazine feel as well as the plain AEG mags? How well does it move within the magwell?

Star has already released their realcaps. The mags all feed fine, and they are a very tight fit in the magwell.
