Which Gun Question?

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm kinda new to this forum(and also to airsoft... true newbie) so sorry in advance for 'mistakes' :a-embarassed: . Anyways I was wondering in a little list that I made of which of these guns should I take:

-King Arms SIG 556 HOLO

-Ares SCAR-L(with out the grenade launcher due to budget :a-angry:)

-Umarex G36k

-Ares TAVOR TAR-21 Rail Version(DE)

With a budget like this, the world is pretty much your oyster. None of these would be top choices. Instead of the Tavor you could look at the G&G G2010. Instead of the Ares Scar, some the KWA M4 variants (SR-10 perhaps). Instead of the Umarex (also really an Ares), the new Tokyo Marui G36k. And so on. Ares are quirky guns, and their internals often leave something to be desired, especially given their price.

And about my role I'm sorta a jack-of-all-trades not to decieded yet, well I could do some support as well as assault and recon, my budget range is restricted up to 450$.

Thanks in advance for your help :a-grin: .

for a G36C I would say KWA but u said G36K so I guess listen to those guys

Thanks for the advice but I got a few more questions:

Ares are quirky guns, and their internals often leave something to be desired, especially given their price.

What do you mean by "quirky guns"?

I saw another gun that intrested me it was the G&G UMG(UMP) and I wondered is it a good gun?

I was wondering what's the better choise in the two G36C(KWA or Mauri)?

Is it possible to convert a G36C in to a G36k with out too much "heavy modifications"?(Evading the horrible wobbling effect...)

I thank you in advance for your responses :a-grin:

By quirky, she means they have problems, anywho KWA will blow any TM strait out of the a water. TM's products are marketed to Japan, where they have very limiting laws, thus not letting them perform as well as a gun made under american laws can. The UMP is all right, but not as good as a KWA. I'm sure you can find a "k" kit that won't lead to wobbling

Here's an Ares enthusiast.

There has not been a single ARES/Star rifle that I have seen, held, or worked on that I liked. One of THEE most worthless peice of junk companies to have set foot on this green, red, and blue earth. HOW people still pay for one is beyond me. Sure they all LOOK cool, but all that means is that you have a REALLY expensive wallhanging ornement.

I could think of quite a few better rifles than the TAVOR for your money.....

What I mean is that Ares internals are sometimes less than reliable, and in a lot of models they are unique to the Ares version of the gun, regardless of whether there are other manufacturers who also make a replica of the same gun.

If I had an opportunity to acquire this TM http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/tokyo-marui-g36...w-back-aeg.html I'd snap it up in a moment. But yes, for everyday use, if you're thinking G36c, go KWA.

Little background for those interested:

Okay, so... the other day I went and played Airsoft with a group of kids from my church's YouthGroup. I'm sort of like a Youth Pastor's assistant or something...

Other than that experience and the research I've done on the web over the last 4 days... I have no knowledge of this stuff..

I usta play paintball back in the day, and I know that FPS in Paintball is generally around 270-280, much more and you'll either bust the paintball in the barrel or it will do some crazy things through the air when it leaves..

The gun I used was given to me. It's an M83. Either the battery wasn't charged or it just sucks lol. Many times I shot <AT> the teens and my BB's (that's for the guy who said he hates them being called BB's! :a-wink: ) would either deflect off of a leaf, or hit them so lightly that they couldn't tell they were being shot. And then, as if I had stepped on some sort of hornets nest, a buzz of BB's would come whirling in my direction. Part of me wanted to run to my truck and grab my XDm9 just so I could hit something :a-embarassed:

What's a good FPS that won't kill these guys, but will still give me accuracy & distance, as well as the ability to shoot through a few leafs? I don't want to be underpowered but I don't want to send them home crying either... well not all of them atleast ;) - I'm used to paintballs that would eliminate twigs and things as they made there way to the target (Tippman Pro/Carb with Bigshot barrel).

Here's some guns I've found that I THINK I would like, but being a Newbie I have no idea. Can I get some opinions on these or some suggestions on others?

I'd like to keep it below $200 if possible.

Not sure if this is best placed in this thread or not, but I'm looking for gun experts so this seems as good a place as any.

I'm looking at a couple of used Classic Army guns - an M4 and a M16 (416). I'm trying to determine whether they are sportslines or prolines but I can't tell from the pictures and the information I've gotten from the seller leads me to believe they started life as sportslines but he swapped out gears, bushings, barrels, pistons and all manner of assorted goodies to turn them essentially into prolines.

I've gotten lots of good communication from the seller and the guns *appear* to be a good deal. From the gun experts point of view, are they? I had essentially decided to lay low until I could afford a KWA SR10 but these came along and I figure one of them could get me by for a little while and then I could turn it into a loaner or re-sell it. A friend of mine who is also just getting started in airsoft has the same questions, he's looking at the M4, I'm looking at the M16.

Offer opinions at will - I don't believe they'll be in a class with a KWA, but would they be decent guns for a newbie - or for a similar price would someone be better served getting a G4 from ASGI's custom gun selection? By the time you add a discount code and consider free shipping, the price will be about the same.

Here's the link - would you recommend these guns for $150?

Battery for the KWA I don't have it yet but everyone says u need a small type battery and the best would be a nunchuck style and elite batteries are the best. u can get em here cheapbatterypacks.com and here eliteairsoftbatteries.com for the charger just get a smart charger that has a small tamiya connector and Bio bb's from what ive heard the best so far are Bioval Bioshot and BBKing heres the Bioshot website www.bioshotbb.com I don't know the other 2. also I would get the G36 because you can use it for CQB and long range but with the UMP(G) its mostly CQB if you were to get a UMP style gun I would wait until KWA makes one if they make one because KWA is better than G&G internal and external soooo yea

also just get a 8.4v or 9.6v don't go for anything higher until ur more experienced + even with just an 8.4 the ROF is about 18 rounds per second 9.6 is about 20-23 Rounds per second any higher is about 25+ and if you rewire ur guns to the deans plug that can raise your ROF even more but then again like I said wait until ur a bit more experienced see look at the ROF on the gun with just a low battery

thats just an 8.v in that video a 9.6 is still very very high ROF ( rof = rate of fire btw ) Edited by sora4502

I'd like an actual parts list before buying. Btw, m16 =/= 416. Made by different people, and different firing mechanism, I think.

EDIT: This is <AT> nopants.

Wait, so if I get the 416, are the parts TM-compatible M4/M16 parts or does CA do some proprietary things in their mechanisms that would make parts replacememt/upgrade a pain?

Agree with the parts list. Requested one and got a vague description of what things were upgraded (better piston and motor) but not specifics. Still waiting. Again, for $150, I think the worst I could do is not get a great deal - as long as the guns are fully functional as described.

1. Price Range- Anything under $100.

2. Play Style-rushing, action packed games.

3. Play Area- woodland, fields.

4. Style Preference-anything with an M4A1 look, just a basic assault rifle. I would prefer for there to be a front handle or foregrip on the front.

I play in close quarters, so I want a gun with good range, but a lower fps. Any gun with an fps below 350 will do.

Mea is a different polymer than the nylon glass fiber of the real steel or src. For 100 you're better off with a pistol like the kjw mk1 and a s many mags as you can afford.

Per your advice, I think I've decided on this one:

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?...roducts_id=4602

What was it you mentioned about 15% off?

Any suggestions regarding BB's / New Battery / Charger or any other must have accessory for woods airsoft?

I'm thinking about getting some of those electronic earmuffs (for when I shoot my real guns), they amplify normal sounds and dampen the sound of gunfire. Might be a nice advantage :)

also I would downgrade the spring on that gun to an m110 cus that spring is too high for most places most outdoor have a limit of 400 and indoor are about 350 or 300

The CM028 is already a ~350 FPS gun. As for the G&G Combat Machine, I own one myself, and they are very sturdy guns. The externals are made of a very high-quality plastic, nylon fiber. It is going to better than most pot metals. (low quality metal) At airsoftGI, the coupon WOW will get you 15% off, I believe. At evike, ROCKET gets you 15% off.

Im back with another(and hopefully last) question.

Christmas is coming up,I'll have $200 dollars set aside from that,Im selling 2 guns right now,and I should get ~$175 from that, and starting the week Black Ops comes out,I get $20 a week. That's about ~$450 by christmas. And I need a primary.

These are the only options Ive been thinking about:

1. MagPul PTS MASADA

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?...roducts_id=6859

2.A&K ACR+G&G M4 w/ Blow Back

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?...roducts_id=6044

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?...roducts_id=4726

3.G&P WOC X GBBR

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/gandp-woc-x-m4a...rifle-usmc.html

The Masada can be used for both CQB and woodland, but it's like a Kim Kardashian poster:If you see it too much, you'll get bored of it.

The ACR/M4 I can get for cheaper than the PTS,and I can customize each to my liking, and not get bored of them.

The GBBR I REALLY REALLY want more than anything else, but I'm worried that customs might seize it.But if I get it,I can get a few mags, some new Pantac gear I've been looking at,propane adapter, and propane/Silicone oil.I'm not worried about how much maintainance,I'll do as much as I need to do.

The second set, most definatly. The MagPul Masada is an overpriced MPEG and GBBR's are expensive to get enough mags to actually have a use for it, not to mention you'll be at a disadvantege due to the low RoF.

The mag cost, ammo capacity, and RoF doesn't matter(I play mostly on Semi). With that aside,do you still think I should get the second set?

Yes, the GBBR will also decrease your accuracy due to the recoil, and the EBBR doesn't have much recoil, maily makes a nice "clack" sound.

The G&G blowback also comes with brass bushings, and a metal spring guide compared to the non blowback, so there's other reasons to buy the blowback version.

Anyways, while I can't say anything for the Magpul Masada or the A&K ACR, I can say for gas guns: they're really fun to mess around with, but they're really not that effective in combat compared to AEGs. My friend has a WE GBBR and he doesn't use it much. Look at KWA, they're awesome guns, if you can afford them.

Which 1911 GBB guys, the KJW or Softair (I think cybergun.) The kjw runs on the new co2 version, and the Cybergun softair runs on co2 and is almost $70 more. Is the Cybergun worth it? Here are the links to both guns,

Hey everyone, I'm looking to get new M4 variant gun, and I pretty much have my sights set on a KWA 2GX series rifle after owning one of their 1G series guns. My only problem is that I don't know which KWA M4 gun to get, either the SR5 or the SR10?

I'm sure everyone's opinion is to obviously go with the SR10 as I will be playing in the field and not CQB, but also consider that I'm only 5'2" and 105 pounds. Would the SR10 be too much for me to hold all day, or is it similar to holding a normal M4 like I recently did with my old KWA?

Unless you're playing exclusively CQB, don't get the SR5. But why not compromise, and get the M4 RIS?

Glad I found this thread.

I'm a newbie looking to purchase a few spring guns to use with friends as we experiment with airsoft, we've got 27 acres and a few indoor areas to mess around in, but we're not looking to drop any serious cash at the moment (which is why we're going the spring gun route).

I'm mostly looking at long guns in the $40 price range, was wondering if you gurus have any good suggestions?

So far the TSD M-14 and the TSD M1014 shotgun have caught my eye. Anybody have anything to say about these two, or have ideas for better alternatives?

lol I love how on the m1014 it says "realistic" pump action the m1014 is semi but w.e and yea those spring guns are fine but remember all 40$ spring guns are basically walmart guns and are not going to last you as long as a high dollar AEG but since ur going to experiment with them go for it

I can't help you either if you could give me $100 to work with I could come up with something, keep in ming the replicas you have selected won't be anything like a decent AEG nor will it last much longer than six months.

Hmm, so, basically, spring guns are sh*t? What guns would you normally recommend for a Newbie? (sorry if that's really vague, lol) I heard some good things about the TSD M1014, although I know it's not going to be as good as an AEG or a more expensive shotgun.

The cheapest thing I can recomend would be a DE tri-shot shotgun, which can be found on airsoftgi.com for a reasonable price, if you could bring your budget up to $110 the CYMA cm028, which can also be found on airsoftgi.com, would be an exelent choice. Remember, both of these options will need some BBs.
