Blackwater Airsoft Field - Virginia Beach, VA

Recommended Posts

A new field has opened in Virginia Beach. Check out the site at http://www.VBAirsoft.com. It's tough to find the first time but it is listed on Google Maps and worth the drive.

The field is approximately 30 acres with woods, open fields and a small CQB town. Phase one of construction is complete so the town is now 20,000 sq ft with a dozen multi-roomed and one 2 story building. By phase three the town will be four times that size. The games are based on a year long running scenario so you won't be playing Capture-the-Flag every weekend.

Play starts at 11am on Sundays and admission is $15 which includes lunch and a drink. The Barn has bathrooms and electricity so bring you chargers or use one of ours for a small fee.

We have a retail shop on site provided by Bubblehead's Airsoft Supply. They have weapons, ammo and accessories available. See their site for prices: http://www.BubbleheadsAirsoftSupply.com (Same price on the field as on the site). We are also adding an upgrade/repair shop, but until then tools are available for quick fixes.

If you have any questions, contact Chris or Ken

See you Sunday!

:a-thumbsup:

Age limit: Under 18 requires a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. All others will need to sign a waiver on the first visit which will be kept on file for future visits. Those under 16 are required to be accompanied by a player 18 or over.

So far there aren't any rules as far as FPS and ammo types. We're still feeling out what customers prefer and so far haven't had any complaints. That being said, safety is our first priority. We call "safety kill" inside 15 ft for rifles and inside 9 ft for pistols. All players and staff are required to have eye protection on during game play.

We have received feedback from one team that they wouldn't play if aluminum BBs were allowed on the field. Seeing what kind of damage they can do I tend to agree. We're looking to have nice gentlemanly games so that everyone can walk away with a great experience.

I'll talk to the webmaster about getting a copy of the waiver and more basic information posted to the site.

Thanks for the question. Any other input is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a good place. As far as FPS goes here are reasonable engagement limits that I think will work well:

0-299 FPS: 15 ft

300-350 FPS:27 ft

350-400 FPS: 35

400+: 50 ft

If I'm ever on vacation around that area I'm sure I'll take my guns and drop by.

As far as other rules go I think these will also work:

-No metal BBs, as said above.

-No ranks that you didn't really earn (team ranks could be an exception if you are on a team)

-No pyro (if you want to use this rule it's up to you)

There might be others that I can't think of right now. I hope you can put some of these into consideration.

Thanks again, that's exactly the type of feedback we're looking for!

1) Ranges vs FPS will be tough to judge during play though, that's why we went with the two limits. I see your point though, a 500 fps SYSTEMA at 15ft is much different than a 350 fps JG.

2) We haven't considered ranks yet. That's a cool idea. We're also creating a field club. Annual dues will get you free field fees and special discounts on retail products.

3) By pyro do you mean flammables like smokes, or everything? We've allowed gas powered grenades, BB showers and flash bangs with no complaints.

No pyros like homemade traps or nades or anything. Flashbangs, pyro smoke grenades and other things like that should be allowed though.

What about respected pyro companies? Definitely no homemade stuff, but I'd like to see more smokes and stuff.

Hey guys, its Chris, I saw that y'all were talking about engagement rules. I just wanted to add that engagement in the city can be as low as 4 feet in some places. the maximum engagement in the city is only 25 feet at most. many of y'all are talking about 30 and 40 foot minimum range, and I can tell you that this city is nothing like anything Poseidon has. it is very tight and it is a nightmare to operate in. we try to maintain extreme caution at all times to ensure safety. so far it has gone well and we plan to continue doing what we are doing.

On the Pyro note. No homemade devices will be permitted. Only commercial products that still must be safe for airsoft use will be allowed. Ie. anything that can cause bodily harm will not be allowed.

starting august 22nd we will also be playing on Saturdays and we will also begin to rent guns for those of y'all just getting into the sport.

he also mentioned the trouble finding the field for the first time. its true, most people do. we are working on getting better signs to help with that problem.

When I get the club sorted out I will be redoing the whole site to accommodate for the changes and at that time we will have all the info for the club up and ready to go.

Hope to see you guys at the field!

Products from respected companies would be fine. Nothing caustic of course (I.e. no tear gas) but smokes would add some nice realism to the scenarios.

I just wanted to add that FLASH BANGS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. Even though FBs are non lethal, they are not toys. experienced users of FBs will know that there are different classes of flash bangs that are used in different cases, for example the area of affect. As I said before, FBs are not toys, they are designed to stun and disorient and they can cause bodily harm when used. The only type of flammables that will be allowed for use by players will be Smokes. I say players because we will occasionally blow off a cherry bomb or something of a loud bang or maybe blow off one of our black smoke pots which adds to war zone realism.

You may consider using semi only in your city if you've got concerns about the safety of your engagements.

By the by, I caught your video on you tube, the one you posted on the VAF forum. The city looks sweet, but you've GOT to get the camera guy some training! He whips the camera back and forth so fast in the beginning its almost nauseating! Again, the city looks killer, and well built.

Sorry about the video. My 13 year old nephew shot it. Chris is working to get a professional videographer out there in the next couple weeks.
