Advice for a newbie's gun

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to airsoft and would like to possibly get some advice on choosing a good, semi-fisrt gun. My price range is pretty much anything under $200 (although cheaper is always preferable when quality remains constant). I would like for it to be modeled after an m-4 or something along those lines. This gun will probably be seeing the most use in woody terrain, so I would like for it to have good accuracy and range. These are probably my biggest concerns, with range being less important that accuracy. I am open to any and all advice. Again, I'm pretty new to this and everything I see whenever I am looking for a gun can get pretty overwhelming. I know that the G&G Combat Machines are commonly suggested. Are there any other suggestions? I'm not against a Combat Machine or anything, I just want to consider all of my options. Thank you for any potential help.

I would personally recommend CYMA's cheap, yet very good AKs (full metal, real wood). These bad boys are a competitor to more pricier AKs as well. You can see all of the praise they're getting.

Now about the AR platform, specifically the M4 series. I'd wait till you've gotten into airsoft and you've saved enough money for a KWA or G&P M4. They're the best hands down in cost/quality ratio.

Jing Gong also makes good guns for beginners. So does Echo 1, which is a re-brand of JG. So look into those brands. If you are new I strongly recommend getting a used gun. It's all up to you though.

Is there any risk in buying a refurbished gun? Will they wear out faster or anything?

Do you mean, refurbished from a retailer/technician, or second-hand/used?

From personal expieriance I would suggest Any TSD Tactical Gen3 gun. They are reliable and cost about $200 or below. I actually have yet to replace mine because it still works so well.

I've read all the above posts and honestly they are good gun for beginners, but won't last. On the other hand, you can get really good quality guns for under $200. The new KWA CQR is on the high end of airsoft AEGs. If you want to compete with people that been airsofting for years, then I would get this gun. The reason why it's cheaper than other KWA is because it has a lower polymer receiver. They cost $190, but with an Evike coupon, it will bring it down a little bit. Another great gun is the King Arms M4 for $190.
