Angelust's PMC and A-TACS thread

But that confirms that I can paint up my new ops-core in A-Tacs, so I'll need some tutorial advice Soap!

No problem! Just let me know when you're ready for the write up!

Ok also optics planet has it. Same price with 5% off coupon

This. They seem to have the best prices at the moment.

The Banshee is an excellent HSLD setup, but if you want something bigger, I run the TAG "Plate Carrier" and it's been pretty good. I'll be picking up a Banshee for a new loadout soon, but either one is a good option.

Well, I got a stop-gap setup while I wait to get more funds for a plate carrier.

Got a Coyote Brown Pantac Battle Belt with Y-suspenders ($30 shipped in great condition)

It should easily fit the two kangaroo double pouches on each side (so 4 M4 mags and 4 pistol mags), the EMT pouch toward the back, and I'll see if there's any way to secure the Hydro carrier onto it.

That will allow me to run a very HSLD setup for now, with only minimal coyote brown showing in the front buckle and suspenders.

Still missing on my loadout would be a radio pouch, and a pistol holster. Perhaps a good excuse to finally get that Serpa drop-leg.

Edit: And if I really need to gear up, I can always use my tan vest (or both!)

Some gear on the way-

All the A-Tacs stuff is paid for, though no vest at this point. The Tan vest will have to do, and when I want to go light, the Battle Belt setup.

As an update:

Purchased some Ignite Asian Fit boogie regulators

Condor tan MP5 (3-mag) pouch

Condor tan Flash Bang pouches (x2)

All that will be for my ultra HSLD PMC battle belt setup.

My big decision is what to do for a pistol holster and mag pouches. I'm considering-

horizontal condor holster to put on the rear of the battle belt, upside down, for rear-drawing and minimal interference. I'm not sure how awkward it will be to draw though, depending on how it's secured.

Serpa drop-leg from DHgate - don't want to wait a month, and returns are almost impossible. It'd be nice to wear one and decide.

Use the Kangaroo double pouch, keeping the pistol in an M4 pouch, two pistol mags, and a flash-bang in a M4 pouch. It's A-tacs though, so it wouldn't match the other gear, but ehh...

Nice setup. Simple & effective.

VERY.

Serpa drop-leg...

I love my Serpa. They're quick to draw from, and you could mount it to your belt and keep the area under your arm clear of pouches to maintain effective drawing capabilities.

Another good option. A-TACS won't MATCH, per se, but it'll still look good. Hell, if a pistol in a 5.56 pouch works for the SEALs, it'll probably work for you too haha...

I'm impressed to see you thinking through your rig so thoroughly mate. That's exceedingly important and a lot of people overlook it in favor of some kind of impression. Make your kit work for you - not the other way around. Keep it up!

Sounds great also just get a serpa holster and then buy the molle platform to put on your battle belt

Alright, loadout purchases almost completed. Just waiting for stuff to arrive in the mail.

Purchased-

TAG A-Tacs Plate Carrier (decided to copy you Soap). The banshee looked nice, but the plate carrier from LAPG was basically the same price (and finally back in stock today), and when I want to run a super light setup, I can go with the battle belt. This will let me have a more full rig.

-- I'm going to attach 2 sets of double pouch kangaroos (so 4 M4 mags, 4 pistol mags) to the belly, a EMT pouch for carrying extras on the right panel, a hydro carrier, and possibly a Flash bang pouch or two in tan on the upper left. The upper right part of the front of the vest will either become a spot for an admin panel or will hold my tan Serpa holster with STRIKE platform. I'll have to experiment a bit and see how it feels when it all arrives.

S.T.R.I.K.E. platform for Serpa (will either attach to vest or battle belt depending on mission

Chinese rep Serpa in tan

Ignitor Boogie Regulators

A couple name tapes and A-Tacs american flags for helmet/arm patches

I also got some hiking boots to add to the kit, so when it starts coming in I'll get pics up.

LOL <AT> "1)Muscles"

tips: subdued IR flag for the hat, classic mechanix gloves with the white logos on the back (looks sick) standard issue tan Army boots look good or the danner combat hiking boots, and write some crap on your mags like the first letter of your last name and a number (used to identify magazines) in a red or white paint pen, then youll look all highspeed cool guy! and remember drop legs are old and busted, battle belts are the new hotness.

BTW get on those pushups trooper!

Haha, seriously lacking the muscle department. That piece of gear takes quite a bit more effort than the rest!

I've been looking at LAPG's Bates RAT boots, or possibly some USGI bellevilles or something. Trying to spend sub $50 for them.

I have been thinking about a mag identification system, but right now my mags are sort of mis-matched anyway. I'm waiting on my Lonex bucking to arrive before I do any serious testing on the M4. The one I have in there now is crap and led to some misfeeds - the lip seemed slightly worn/damaged at a certain spot, and I don't want to deal with any jams. If my regular mid-caps feed well, I'll probably do a khaki/brown paint job on them too, though it won't look full A-tacs, since it'll only be 2 colors.

If that works out okay, I'll probably be able to just use a black sharpee to mark numbers on my mags. That also means getting a dump pouch...

A-Tacs!

TAG Plate Carrier

2 condor double stacker mag pouches

Condor utility pouch, basically a small T&T admin pouch

2 tan condor flash bang pouches with thunder Bs

Condor hydration carrier

Propper BDUs

Boogie regulators

Replica ops core

M-pact mechanix gloves

Real Tree hiking boots

Condor tan knee pads

A-tacs elbow pads

Dytac and G&P hybrid M4 upgraded out the wazoo.

The waist looks out of whack to me, so when I go full kit I might add a pantac battle belt, dump pouch, serpa rig, pistol mag pouches, and add the utility pouch to it and add an admin Velcro panel to the PC. Will need a comtac style headset and radio pouch to complete. Anyway, here it is finally.

Looks good to me! Do you have any mock-plates in your PC? If not, try making some out of cardboard. They make the PC fit loads better.

Thanks! Do you say that because it looks weird without them, or because you just find it more comfortable in your own set up? I think the vest fits fine as it is so far.

Maybe I could get dummy plates or something if I need them, but I don't really feel the need to simulate the full uncomfortableness of plates. haha. Even thinking about adding the battle belt with dump pouch and pistol mags feels like a lot...

They make the plate carrier feel more snug, and keep it from sagging. Quite the opposite of uncomfortable.

Hm, I guess I'll have to give it some thought. Dummy plates from evike are pretty cheap...

Yup, and a few layers of cardboard are even cheaper. The curvature on the dummy plate will probably be a bit more comfortable though.

Any tips on making mock plates from cardboard? Cash has become tight again, and I need some comtac replicas before anything else at this point.

How many layers of cardboard do you usually cut? Say 3 of regular corrugated style, front and back? Do you guys do the side panels too?

By far the best pic in the thread! Tactical myspace picture to the max!

Diggin the loadouts man! Cant wait to get my hands on a pair of my own ATAC bdu's.

Oh! As for plates. I ended up using 2 layers of a shipping box I had cut out per the dimensions of the real deal.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Arms_Protective_Insert Good link for measuring up the Sapi's.

Did Mediums to try it out in my Satch and loving em so far.

Part of me wants to coat them in fiberglass resin minus the glass so theyll be waterproof and still a wee bit flexible but the added security of not worrying about them getting wet.

Hmm... May actually do a writeup on that now >.>

Wrap your cardboard in Duct Tape. Makes them more water resistant and enhances the rigidity.

Thanks, will have to work on that when I get more time. Right now, learning gearbox work is taking enough of my energy!

For gear updates:

Purchased some more pouches-

A-Tacs Condor dump pouch

A-Tacs double pistol mag pouch

A-Tacs radio pouch

Tan velcro panel

EDIT: Just scored some comtac 2 replicas, peltor arc rail adapter replicas, and U94 PTT on ebay for a great price. Looks like that's all I needed!

That should basically finish off my loadout completely.

Planning on arranging it this way-

Upper right vest will be velcro panel (to keep it unloaded for rifle shouldering)

Upper left vest will be pistol mags

Belly will be M4 pouches

Vest back will be hydration carrier

Vest back upper left will be Radio pouch (or possibly next to the pistol mag pouches depending on how it fits together.)

Battle Belt will be loaded with-

Left side front ThunderBs

Left side back Dump Pouch

Right side front STRIKE Serpa

Right side back sidekick pouch

Probably more pics in a week. Now I just need more MAG midcaps to fill up the pouches...

So shifting my PMC loadout a bit (which is becoming my CQB loadout)

Picked up a Vector Kriss with 3 mags. As such, I'll be getting rid of my MP5, and probably my G&P M4 as well. Only really need 1 CQB platform.

So here's the plan as of now-

Purchase 2 more magazines (250 bbs total + sidearm with 3x 27 round mags). Should be sufficient for most respawn CQB games.

Purchase 2 double P90 magazine pouches (about $30 with free shipping on Amazon). Not the coolest looking pouches, but they're functional. That should allow me to load 4 mags on my plate carrier front. Unfortunately I don't think I can fit everything I need on just a battle belt - 4 Kriss mags, two pistol mags, a dump pouch, a Serpa with P226, and two thunder Bs...Only way to do it would be to drop the two thunder Bs, or the pistol setup. Or maybe to just store the Thunder Bs in the dump pouch...but ehhhhh...

Also a communications update-

The comtac 2s and peltor style arc rail adaptors work, but the headphones sit somewhat loose on my head. It's not non-functional...but it's definitely not as tight as I would like. Seems to be a flaw with the design as a whole as far as I can tell, since my head isn't exactly narrow.

I also finally traced down and got my swimpat style headset with PTT. So now I have two PTT sets.

Pics up later when I get a chance...full regalia. Haha.

Helmet loadout. Plans are to khaki/brown spray the flakjaks, since the eggshell white color feels really bright.

As an update - ordered two more vector mags for 5 total, and I am about to order two P90 double mag pouches off amazon. Also getting some foam dummy plates- front back sides. Also bought 5.56 stamped KA midcaps to fill out my vest pouches. 50/50 camo painted and black gov't.

Sold the MP5 and some random stuff to a new player to fund it all.

Basically all done. I cant think of anything else to add really.

Diggin the headgear man! I swear, everytime I see you guys update with your FAST's and ATAC's I realize I need to stop being lazy >.>

Oh! Did you have to modify your mesh facemask at all? I've got the same one and it's a bugger with my flakjaks and ESS NVG's. Starting to think I should just start cutting it.

I didn't modify the mesh mask at all (except for spraying it tan). I let my flakjaks sit on the upper part of my mask, and it provides a full seal except for where the bridge of the nose is. But that's the price you pay for being born with an Asian face.

Only issue I'm concerned about is having my breath creep up into the goggles and fog it, but so far it hasn't been a problem with the lower portion being mesh. Also the upper part of the goggles have had the plastic air spacers removed, so there's a lot of ventilation happening through the goggles. So when I'm moving or if there's a breeze, there's no fog. Thankfully, the helmet provides full cover for the top vents so it's not a problem.

Just an update -

Will be getting my KWA Vector Kriss in a day or two, and the seller was generous enough to throw in a free KWA M93R with a few mags for shipping a couple days late! Talk about score!

I purchased 3 additional magazines (for a total of 6), and 3 double P90 magazine pouches in Coyote Brown from Airsoft Club (HK).

I'll run it one of two ways - either attached to the front of my A-Tacs vest in a mixed-non-impression loadout, with everything loaded on the vest (mag pouches, serpa strike holster, pistol mags, Thunder Bs). Or lighter with just the mag-pouches on a battle belt and either a) Thunder Bs or b) pistol and mags. It'll depend on how I'm feeling. I could just go ultra light with Kriss + belt + the 6 mag pouches as a straight shooter platform.

Other updates-

I purchased some foam dummy sapis for my A-Tacs plate carrier from FCMA and it turned out to be a great buy! Front back and side plates, and they really make the vest more snug and structured. I might be getting a total loadout pic tonight, so stay tuned...

Alright, mags and pouches in. Here's a first try.

HSLD PMC style setup. Not trying to be really strict about the look. This is just what I'm planning to wear to CQB games where I get to shoot pre-teens and run around all Tarantino.

Pistol draws somewhat awkward, but I can angle it more forward before I actually play.

Maybe toss the pistol forward on the belt and then put the pistol pouches behind the pistol, and the extra mags where the pistol mags were?

I had it arranged that way at first, but I really didn't like the balance or utility of it. The two mags in pouches together weigh a LOT, and unless they're evenly distributed on the built, it leans and sags pretty bad.

Also, I'm keeping the pistol as a back-up only, since the Kriss is really a CQB setup. So I'm keeping the pistol and pistol mags in the harder to reach spots, because if I'm reaching for it, something really went wrong. I'm assuming I'll be reaching for mags 10x more than that pistol in most cases. The only real reason I have the pistol is because these fields often employ a rule that if your gun gets shot, you can't use that gun anymore. If you don't have a back-up to use, you're basically dead.

Finally get to play a game tomorrow!

8 adults, 8 highschool students. Got asked to help chaperone a kind of High-school field-trip/week long project. Their theme is zombie survival...so I'm not sure what I'll be in for. Got a friend coming along with me though, so it should be fun.

Decided to go full A-Tacs, but cutting down on weight a little. Leaving the battle belt at home, stashing the 1911 in a mag pouch, and adding the side-kick to my side panel. Put in a 2-liter hydration pouch in the carrier, and all together the vest weighs a ton! Not as bad though once worn.

Hopefully I'll have a couple game pics from tomorrow.

Updates from the game today. I just gotta say, R-Hop is AMAZING on the field. Was able to get all kinds of hits that wouldn't have been possible before. Had some issues at first, but was able to fix it on field by re-situating my bucking. Here's a few photos of me in game-
