Upgrades for a g&g

Recommended Posts

After getting my new vfc m4 tactical e series, I was VERY pleased and then when I switched to shooting my old g&g gr15, I was kind of disappointed at the internal weakness compared to my vfc. After thinking for a few nights, I decided to upgrade my gun to a dmr. No speed or rof required because I am cutting off full auto and shooting only semi at around 500 fps or lower (field limit for dmr's). I already have a set up and I want you to tell me which parts are bad, can be better, or not needed. My gun already has a Prommy 6.01 tbb.

I will not be replacing the cylinder because it is needed for the blowback function of work. I really like the design of the blowback and no one on my field has a blowback dmr. I don't have experience for pistons and piston heads. any input would be appreciated thanks :)

I will also be tuning the gearbox to my liking and my main goal is good range, high fps (bb travels faster to hit) and a good compressions and consistency. I will be working with wires for better trigger response and I will be making a mosfet

Well I would suggest dropping the stupid double oring piston head and get a lonex pom piston head, get a pair of jg gears instead of the prommy or go riots for the same cost as those prommys AND have life time warrenty, shs double oring cylinderhead(cheaper and does the same as that magicbox), Lonex high torque(cheaper and is waaay nicer)Lonex blue/red piston. Also add sorbo and radious your gearbox. I would also tell you with the money you saved, buy a mosfet, deans and get a oring airnozzle.

I have the non raider version. What I did to mine was I added a mosfet, and 11.1v lipo, shimmed, corrected AOE, and added the flat-hop mod. Best gun I ever owned. 5 inch groupings at 200feet. And, I was only shooting about 300 fps because I downgraded the spring to get a faster RPM and reduce wear on gears and the gun came with a 6.01 tightbore, I just left it but I would stay away from anything tighter than a 6.03. I've only had a spur gear strip(stock) and the stock piston stripped. But that was when I first made the upgrades and It was all running fine until I recently had a feeding issue which has yet to be resolved. :/ but all in all great gun, lasted about a year and a half with the upgrades mentioned.

The amount of money your spending almost made me sick. Go with what Epiphany said. The lonex parts are much better quality and honestly their bucking is much better too and miles cheaper in terms of price. I still can't fathom how u can spend so much money on just buckings 0.o

Oh and if your nervous about jg gears don't be they are tanks. They can pull some pretty hefty springs with the right motor (lonex high torque) and a nice shim job. There's a reason people use them in DSG setups

I couldn't find a lonex a1 anywhere in the US (overseas retailer cost a lot more and high shipping). can you recommend something that can be found on airsoft Atlanta or airsoft gi? (main retailers). and is there a place to buy lonex parts from the US? I don't trust HK retailers and overseas. and how about these gears from jg http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=27806 I don't use evike much because people say they easily mess up orders.

http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/SHS-Aluminum...028-p/32517.htm heres an SHS cylinder head and is it the right one?

is this the sorbo your talking about? http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/HTS-Sorbotha...per-p/32732.htm

not sure what you mean by radious the gearbox, but I forgot to add that I have radiused the cylinder and the corners are gone. and thanks ill be on my way :)

Clandestineairsoft should have the lonex a1. if not, get the A2, A2 is as good as the A1.

Clandestineairsoft sells A lot of lonex parts. Just go to their site and just buy everything that's lonex.

It's one of the shops I like since they are the only ones I know that sells Lonex that are in america.

Here's a build I will go with for a 500 fps dmr.

Lonex red piston

500 fps spring

Lonex o-ring nozzle

lonex 18:1 gears or riot SC 20:1 but I don't think this would be in your budget.

Lonex a2 motor. I only saw that post that I quoted when I was writing the top part of this but get the A2 for sure now. I saw you wanted a DMR. A1 is a balance motor and not torque. You would want the A2 over A1 in this kind of buiild

Yes a BB is nice but it just causes problems. imo, disable the BB and switch the cylinder to a zero hole cylinder. A 6.01 tbb might be eh, I would switch it into a 6.03 imo.

Lonex pompom piston head for sure and lonex cylinder head. (I think these are double o-rings.)
