Are some Gearboxes more noisy than others?

Recommended Posts

are some version 2 gearboxes more noisy than others?

how about other gearboxes.

Your gear box could have a really bad shim job. Your gears could have an irregular shape causing grinding. It really depends. What kind of sound are you hearing? Whining, grinding, motor noise, piston slap?

Any individual gearbox will sound different from another because each one has different quality of tuning and parts in it. You can generally tune any gearbox so that it performs better and in doing so you can reduce noise in some ways.

Some examples:

- reshim the gears, less friction so less noise

- sorbo padding and o-ring on piston head, less noise of the piston hitting so hard

im referring more to the motor area..well depending on what type of motor one has, but regardless you will hear the motorand the gears turning either way even after you shim your gun perfectly and other upgrades to right?

link to my airsoft gun...would the zzzZZZZzzz noise be common?:

Oh okay, that kind of noise. The shimming would most likely help this. Did you do the shimming yourself? A good shimming job takes account of the bevel to pinion gear relation, along with motor height.

In general some parts may seem "noisier" than others but tuning work is supposed to solve most of that.

it has stock copper bushings, (non ball bearing)

could ball bearing bushings help with noise reduction?
