Need Better Range With M4

Recommended Posts

Right now I have a stock G&G Combat Machine Raider CM16. It's a good gun but the range is very bad. Could you guys list some upgrades I could make to the gun. Also could you give me links to the upgrades like an inner barrel or outer barrel.

Thanks Guys.

Check compression

R/ER-hop

Polish barrel

I would really like to know what kind of range you like to improve on?

Are we talking Range in general or effective range?

Go buy a Madbull 6.03 M4 length barrel, they are cheap and very high quality, you will not go wrong there.

Its pretty easy to install. Honestly if you are new to upgrading but willing to learn you could "try" the R-Hop, but I would just make a Flat-Hop since its much more "user friendly" than installing the R-Hop and the performance for Autos is pretty much the same between the Flat Hop and R-Hop.

Flat Hop can be made by using an Eraser or Rubber Tubing.

Better yet you could always just grab the Firefly Buffer nub, sand it down to match your hop up window, once you have done that, flip your bucking inside out sand down the mounds and protrusions, wash, let it air dry. Then install, rotate 90 degrees plug and chuck that nub and barrel...boom...you should have a much greater gain in accuracy and range.

I've heard of a R-Hop. Are they any good?

Personally I think they are fantastic. They are pretty much the standard recommendation these days. If someone recommends a conventional bucking, they tend to be behind the curve. All of my guns are R-hopped.

Also, do the compression mods linked in my signature.

I would like to nitpick at EDI's "polish barrel" comment. While yes, technically you are polishing, I think it is important to use the term "lapping". It implies a certain degree of precision. To me, polishing is more like apply a coat of polish and buff off, and it isn't terribly precise. Whereas lapping uses progressively smaller compounds to slowly remove material with one of the barrel laps, making it a more "precise" finish. I just don't want someone going into their cabinet, pulling out a jar of polish, slathering their barrel up, and thinking that is all there is to it.
